What’s on my bedside table?

Today I thought I would tell you about ‘What’s on my bedside table’… and my routine before I go to sleep at night.
I have always had trouble getting to sleep, so my night-time routine is very important to me:
Firstly I spray my pillow with a couple of squirts of Avon Sleeptherapy Goodnight Pillow Mist, this has a lovely soothing fragrance and dries really quickly. It is £4.50 for 125ml and last for ages – I’ve been using this bottle for a couple of years now!
Then I liberally apply Clarins Hand and Nail Treatment Cream to my hands (and sometimes my feet too if I have just had a bath). This is a really rich moisturising hand cream so you only need to apply a pea-sized blob to cover both hands. It has a pleasant fragrance too. It’s not cheap though at £20 for 100ml, but as with the Avon product above it does last a long time as you only need to apply a very small amount.
Next I apply a thin layer of Vaseline Lip Therapy Rosy Lips with rose and almond oil to my lips. My lips tend to dry out overnight, particularly in Winter and this is one of my favourite beauty products – the Vaseline brand has been around since 1870, it is just so simple and I just love rose scent of this little tin. I think I am going to invest in all of the other flavours of this product very soon – well at around £1.90 per tin I can’t afford not to!
The little picture is one that I created myself using a silver-plated frame that I bought from Ebay and a lovely phrase that I saw on Pinterest. I do think it’s important to try and think positively, and seeing this every morning just reminds me of the possibilities that the day may hold.
Before turning out the light I always read for half an hour or so to help me relax. I am currently reading ‘What Have I Done?’ by Amanda Prowse. It tells the fictional story of a woman struggling to rebuild her life after killing her abusive husband. I am about halfway through and enjoying it so far, I would definitely recommend the book, and I have another Amanda Prowse novel to read after this one.
Lastly before turning out the light, I lift the lid on my Molton Brown Sleep Cedrus Room-Aroma Rocks to let out the fragrance. This is a little box containing rocks of acacia tree sap scented with Moroccan cedrus tree oil, Bulgarian lavender and sweet orange oil. The box comes with a little bottle of the oil to sprinkle over the rocks when they start to lose their scent. The fragrance is very relaxing and scents the whole room. At £31 it’s probably not something I would have justified buying myself, but this was bought for me as a present from a good friend so I don’t have to feel guilty! It does make a lovely gift if you know someone who has trouble sleeping.
I would love to hear if anyone has any other good tips on how to relax before bedtime.
The bedside table in question is from the Ikea Hemnes range and has 2 drawers plus a useful little tray in the top drawer for keeping odds and ends, and the wallpaper is Laura Ashley’s Tatton (rather expensive at full price, but they are always having sales where you can pick it up a lot cheaper).
