W7 Kiss Lipstick Scarlet Fever Review

I usually try to avoid bright red lipsticks as I feel they’re a bit too bright for me, so when W7 recently sent me this Kiss Lipstick in Scarlet Fever* to try I was a bit nervous! It looks so bright in the tube I wasn’t sure if I could pull it off.

My old opinion of W7 was that they were a bit cheap, but they’ve recently launched some great products and their packaging has really improved, plus there’s so much choice – they literally have hundreds of products to choose from. I recently reviewed W7 Captain Matte Foundation and it has turned out to be one of my favourites.

The downside of this Kiss Lipstick is that although the price is low, you don’t get very much lipstick for your money – the lipstick in the image above is fully extended, so it wouldn’t last very long if you were wearing it every day.

I’ve already mentioned that Scarlet Fever is a bright red, and it has an orangey undertone. I was really surprised by the formula, I had thought it might be a bit drying on the lips but it’s really buttery and soft and applies to the lips really nicely. You can see the sheen on the swatch image below.

I also love the fact that the lipstick has the figures ‘W7’ standing out on the tip of the lipstick. Obviously this won’t last long once you start using the lipstick but it’s a great little touch that you normally only see with more premium products.

You do need to use a really good bright red lipliner when using this Kiss Lipstick in Scarlet Fever (I seem to have misplaced mine, so the image below was taken without one… and you can really tell!). You can clearly see how glossy the Scarlet Fever shade looks on the lips. I’ve still not plucked up the courage to wear this bright red shade outside the house though….

I have to say that my opinion of the W7 brand has really improved, they have some great budget products – I’ve got my eye on their little square Honeycomb Bronzer box which is a ringer for Benefit’s Sugarbomb.

Kiss Lipstick comes in 18 different shades, including 6 matt ones.

Kiss Lipstick in Scarlet Fever from W7 is usually priced at £4.95, but I have found it on Amazon at £3.04 with FREE delivery.
