Urban Decay Eyeshadows in S&M and Chopper Review

I’ve had these Urban Decay Eyeshadows for a while, they were given to me by a friend, and they’re two of Urban Decay’s most popular eyeshadow colours – gunmetal grey ‘S&M’ and sparkly copper brown ‘Chopper’.

Fans of Urban Decay will know that these two are sporting the old packaging, their eyeshadows have recently had a funky new makeover and whilst they’re still in silvery grey round plastic pots they now look just a little more classy:

The new eyeshadow packaging has been created so that the actual pans of colour can be removed from the plastic pot and added to the Nirvana Build Your Own palette. Anyway, whilst the packaging pots have changed the eyeshadow colours haven’t, so I will go ahead and tell you about the shades S&M and Chopper.

S&M is a mid gunmetal grey shade with a shimmer – it looks quite dark in the pot but if applied sparingly it gives the effect of a pale silver, whereas layer it up and it gives a much darker shade useful for adding definition to the crease of the eye or lining underneath the eye.

Chopper is a vibrant coppery brown shade, this also has a shimmer and tiny glittery particles too. Again, this shade can be used as a light subtle colour wash or built up to give a more pigmented deep colour.

Both of the shades apply fairly easily to the eye using an eyeshadow brush (I use the amazingly soft Bobbi Brown Eye Shadow Brush) but can give a little bit of powder drop off so be sure to dust this away after you’ve applied your eye make-up.

And before you apply your Urban Decay Eyeshadow (or ANY eyeshadow, come to that!) be sure to use Urban Decay Eyeshadow Primer Potion which will absolutely stop your eyeshadow from creasing after a couple of hours and it makes the colours more vibrant too. It’s one of my all time favourite make-up products.

You can see from the image above that I like to use S&M all over the eyelid, applying more towards the outer eye to give more depth of colour. I then smudge Chopper into the crease of the eye and finish off with a smudge of black eyeliner on the lower lashline and lots of black mascara.

I think these two Urban Decay eyeshadows go really nicely together – what do you think?

The image above shows the old Urban Decay eyeshadow packaging, I think they’re meant to look like little coins or tokens.
