The hunt for the perfect pink lipstick #8

Welcome to the eighth episode of ‘The hunt for the perfect pink lipstick’! I am on the hunt… the hunt for the perfect pink lipstick that is ‘MLBB’ or ‘my lips but better’. You know, the sort of colour that looks from a distance like you’re not wearing lipstick, like you just have naturally pink, plump perfect lips. The sort of colour you can just slick on from the tube and doesn’t need painstaking application with liner and lipbrush. The sort of colour that looks like ‘my lips, but better’.
Today I am reviewing MAC Frost Lipstick in Angel. I love MAC make-up, I love the wide choice of lipstick colours that they have available and I love the way that the testers are displayed in the shop so that you can see the real colour of each lipstick and try it out.
I like to do my research before purchasing a new MAC lipstick, searching on the internet for swatch images and reviews of colours that I think I might like.
Angel is a slightly sugary mid-pink colour, and despite being in MAC’s Frost collection I wouldn’t really say that it was frosted, it has more of a creamy sheen rather than a shimmer. It applies to the lips really nicely – either straight from the tube or using a lip brush. It has the same strong vanilla fragrance as the other MAC lipsticks that I’ve tried, I quite like it but I think it could put some people off.
The image above shows MAC Angel on my lips and you can see that it’s not really a frosted finish, more of a glossy matt. I have lined my lips with MAC Lip Pencil in Hip N Happy which is pretty much a perfect match for Angel.
When I swatch Angel on my wrist it looks like more of a darker rose pink than it does on the lips, this doesn’t really give a true reflection of the shade.
So is this my perfect pink lipstick?……. I really love it, it’s my favourite lipstick of the moment, it really suits my pale skintone and I like that I can just slick it on straight from the tube without it looking messy. However, it is a bit too much of a sugary pink and slightly too bright to look like my own lips. Angel is fairly close though, but my hunt for the perfect pink lipstick goes on….
Frost Lipstick in Angel is priced at £15.50 and it can be purchased from MAC Cosmetics.
