The hunt for the perfect pink lipstick #4

Welcome to the fourth episode of ‘The hunt for the perfect pink lipstick’! I am on the hunt… the hunt for the perfect pink lipstick that is ‘MLBB’ or ‘my lips but better’. You know, the sort of colour that looks from a distance like you’re not wearing lipstick, like you just have naturally pink, plump perfect lips. The sort of colour you can just slick on from the tube and doesn’t need painstaking application with liner and lipbrush. The sort of colour that looks like ‘my lips, but better’.
This is the third lipstick that I have tested as part of my hunt – Joli Rouge lipstick in Petal Pink* from Clarins. I am a big user of Clarins skincare products, but I am ashamed to say that this is the first Clarins make-up item I have tried.
Petal Pink looks quite a dark pink colour in the tube but the Joli Rouge lipsticks are creamy and sheer with a supple texture so it doesn’t translate as dark on the lips.
The Joli Rouge range contains ingredients that help plump and hydrate for full, soft and supple lips, this lipstick has a lovely creamy consistency and applies really nicely both direct from the tube and with a lipbrush. It has a feint fruity strawberry scent which is quite pleasant. It is a lovely creamy mid-pink colour, quite Summery.
The swatch image above clearly shows how glossy Petal Pink is, although it looks to have more of a darker red tint in this image (I was struggling to get good light). I just love the sophisticated shiny silver bullet tubes too, they look really glamorous (they’re a bit of a nightmare to photograph though without getting lots of reflection!).
The image above shows Clarins Joli Rouge lipstick in Petal Pink on my lips and you can see the beautiful blush pink colour.
So is this my perfect pink lipstick?……. It comes pretty close, I just love the sheer formula and the fact that you can apply it straight from the tube without it looking messy, but it’s just a little bit too bright to look like ‘my lips but better’. I will definitely be wearing this lipstick lots though, particularly with a soft smoky grey eye. The hunt for the perfect pink lipstick goes on…
There are 34 colours of Joli Rouge lipstick available from Clarins, I will be reviewing another colour very soon so keep an eye on Beauty Best Friend for that.
Joli Rouge lipsticks are priced at £18 each and can be purchased from Clarins.
