The hunt for the perfect pink lipstick #3

Welcome to the third episode of ‘The hunt for the perfect pink lipstick’! I am on the hunt… the hunt for the perfect pink lipstick that is ‘MLBB’ or ‘my lips but better’. You know, the sort of colour that looks from a distance like you’re not wearing lipstick, like you just have naturally pink, plump perfect lips. The sort of colour you can just slick on from the tube and doesn’t need painstaking application with liner and lipbrush. The sort of colour that looks like ‘my lips, but better’.
This is the third lipstick that I have tested during my hunt, Mineral Lipstick in Runway Pink from budget New York make-up brand e.l.f. (stands for Eyes Lips Face), and it is the first natural mineral lipstick that I have tried. Mineral products are made using 100% natural oils and minerals and contain no chemical additives, no parabens and only natural dyes, so they cause no long-term threat to your health. I would say that Runway Pink is more of a pinky brown than a true pink, but it does have a lovely creamy consistency and applies really nicely both direct from the tube and with a lipbrush. It doesn’t have much of a scent or taste, this is great if overly scented products put you off. It is a fairly matt colour with no shimmer, but it does give a nice smooth finish and feels creamy on the lips, not drying.
The swatch image above shows the colour of Runway Pink clearly, and you can see that it has a real brown tinge to it. The colour of the lipstick doesn’t look much like it showed on the website or the pink sticker on the side of the box, I was expecting it to be more of a sugary bluey pink, but I still think it is a really nice colour. The sleek matt black tube wouldn’t look out of place in a cosmetic purse filled with Chanel and Mac products either.
The image above shows e.l.f. Mineral Lipstick in Runway Pink on my lips and you can see that it gives a fairly natural look, particularly with my pale skintone (I need to stock up on fake tan!). Unfortunately I don’t feel that this is my perfect pink lipstick as I would prefer something that is more of a sugary-sweet pink with a bit more gloss, but I will definitely be trying out the other 17 colours in this Mineral Lipstick range as I love natural products and e.l.f.’s range doesn’t break the bank. The hunt for the perfect pink lipstick goes on…
e.l.f. Mineral Lipsticks are priced at £5 each and can be purchased from e.l.f.. Keep an eye out for discount codes too, when I made my purchase e.l.f. were offering a mahoosive 60% off all online orders!
I will be reviewing an e.l.f. Mineral Booster powder, a Shimmer Palette and one or two other e.l.f. goodies over the next few weeks, keep an eye on Beauty Best Friend for those.
