The hunt for the perfect pink lipstick #1

I am on the hunt… the hunt for the perfect pink lipstick that is ‘MLBB’ or ‘my lips but better’. You know, the sort of colour that looks from a distance like you’re not wearing lipstick, like you just have naturally pink, plump perfect lips. The sort of colour you can just slick on from the tube and doesn’t need painstaking application with liner and lipbrush. The sort of colour that looks like ‘my lips, but better’.
So today I am trying out Mac Cremesheen Lipstick in ‘Pink Pearl Pop’. Firstly, a little about Mac’s Cremesheen Lipsticks – they are part of Mac’s regular lipstick range, but are softer and creamier giving a more glossy finish. Mac’s Cremesheen Lipsticks are currently available in 29 colours, I chose ‘Pink Pearl Pop’ – a bright sugary pink with a very slight shimmer (which you can only see if you look closely).
The coverage is fairly sheer after one thin coat, but if you layer it on it starts to look very bright and not at all like a natural lip colour. You can see from the swatch above that the bottom of the swatch has had 2 coats and is looking very bright, whereas the top of the swatch looks more natural although still a bit darker than a natural lip colour.
Overall I like the sheer moisturising feel that you get with the Cremesheen Lipstick, but overall the colour is too bright and not at all like a natural lip colour, so ‘Pink Pearl Pop’ is not going to be my winning ‘MLBB’ lipstick. I would, however, try more of the Cremesheen range – perhaps going for a paler pink next time. As with all Mac Lipsticks this is priced at £14 and available to buy from www.MacCosmetics.com. I love the Mac range of lipsticks as there are so many colours to choose from – more reviews coming soon.
