Temple Spa Repose Aromatherapy Resting Cream Review

Before I start this review I have to make a confession… although I had never tried any of their products I always had a negative image of Temple Spa. This is mainly down to an awful woman at a wedding fair that I attended years ago who was a Temple Spa consultant, she was trying to force everyone in the room to sniff their products and sign up for a party. I’ve also always been a bit cynical of brands that sell via a ‘party plan’ scheme – I couldn’t see how they could sell quality products when everyone (company, area manager, consultant, party host) was taking a profit, and always thought they were overpriced rubbish… I know, I know, there are exceptions to this rule, but having been to many Virgin Vie parties in my time I was very sceptical.

Anyway, earlier this month I was contacted by Temple Spa to ask if I was willing to give up my usual moisturiser for Lent and replace it with their hero product, Repose Aromatherapy Resting Cream. I said yes, as I wanted to try one of their products for myself (and not being forced into it at a wedding fair!) and see if they really were any good.

My first impressions of the Repose Aromatherapy Resting Cream were good, the sleek black packaging and glass jar are great quality and I love the inspirational quote inside the lid – ‘Your body is a living temple. Honour it, enjoy your life and live it to the full.’

The product also comes with a little clear spatula which is a lovely touch, and I’ve found it’s really useful for getting just the right amount of moisturiser out of the jar.

When using the cream the first thing that hits you is the amazing scent of lavender and frankincense. It’s quite strong, so probably not for you if you prefer your products unscented, but it’s really relaxing and I can see why Temple Spa dub this product ‘a good night’s sleep in a jar’!

It’s a real multi-tasking product too (I love anything that has more than one use), not only is it a night cream but you can also use it on your ‘rest-days’, use it as an intensive 2 hour mask or rub it into your pulse points at night to help get a good night’s sleep. Plus it’s suitable for all skin types.

The cream has a texture like thick brandy butter, it is a little bit difficult to get the right amount out of the jar with your fingers which is where the mini spatula comes in handy. You only need a small amount to cover the face and skin feels well moisturised but not sticky or oily which can be a downfall of some rich night creams.

As soon as I’ve applied Repose the scent uplifts me and my mind feels cleared and relaxed. I’ve also tried rubbing a little into my wrists before bed as I often have trouble getting off to sleep. I’m not sure it’s helped me get to sleep any quicker, but I do enjoy the scent and I feel really relaxed after I’ve applied it.

A couple of weeks ago (before I started using Repose) I developed an itchy dry patch on my forehead and so I was interested to see how the Aromatherapy Resting Cream treated this… I have to say the skin patch has pretty much cleared up since using the Temple Spa cream.

Overall I really love this ‘duvet for the skin’ from Temple Spa, it feels like such a luxury product and it has completely got rid of my prejudice against them! As soon as I mentioned on Twitter that I was going to be reviewing this product I received lots of comments telling me how nice it is, which doesn’t happen with many products, so it’s obviously a favourite with lots of other people too.

So will I continue to use Repose Aromatherapy Resting Cream after Lent is over? You bet I will! In fact, I might just treat myself to some more for Easter!

Repose Aromatherapy Night Cream is priced at £38 for 50ml, available from the Temple Spa website or your local consultant.

UPDATE – since this post was published I have repurchased Repose twice, I absolutely love it!
