Tanworx Tan Maintainer Review

A couple of weeks ago I reviewed the new Tanworx Self Tanning Foam from Monu Skincare (you can read that review here) and they have since sent me their Tanworx Tan Maintainer* to try out. The aim of Tan Maintainer is to apply it to your skin a couple of days after applying the Self Tanning Foam, so that it helps to moisturise your skin and ensure that your tan is maintained for longer.

The first thing that I noticed when using Tan Maintainer was its colour. It is a rather scary bright yellow colour, not what I was expecting! The ingredients include carrot oil (which fights against cellular damage caused by the sun), so perhaps this is why it is yellow? Other ingredients include Coconut Oil and Sunflower Oil to moisturise the skin, plus Hyaluronic Acid and Seaweed. It should only be used on the body and not the face as the tub states that it should not be used around the eye area.

Tanworx Tan Maintainer is a thick lotion in consistency and it applies to the skin really easily, leaving the skin looking moisturised, glossy and glowing. I have been applying Tan Maintainer on my arms and legs over my fake tan and it has definitely stopped my tan from looking streaky as it fades away. I haven’t actually done a comparison between this product and another body lotion so I’m not sure how it compares, but I would say that it is definitely a good moisturising product. The big downside to this product for me is the very strong talcumy fragrance – it is the same fragrance as the Self Tanning Foam, but it is much stronger in this product and I find it quite overpowering.

I do like the fact that Monu is an ethical skincare brand, they are against animal testing and their products contain no synthetic perfumes or colours. I haven’t come across many other natural skincare brands that make self tanning products, so I think that the new Tanworx range has a great place in the market.

Personally for me I find the strong fragrance offputting so it’s probably not a product that I would choose to buy, however if you like highly fragranced bodycare products and you like to choose those that contain natural ingredients then it would definitely be a good choice.

Tanworx Tan Maintainer is priced at £14 for a 120ml tub, available from Monushop. There is also a Tanworx Exfoliating Body Cream that you can use to prepare your skin before using their range of take tan.

    • The fragrance is quite strong, but it’s not an unpleasant fragrance. Just a bit too much for me! xx
