What I got up to at the LUSH York reopening event

What I got up to at the LUSH York reopening event

LUSH is one of those brands that I’ve dabbled with but never really fully immersed myself in. I have to admit that I’m sometimes put off going into the stores by the strong scent that comes wafting out of the doors, and I’m not really a bath bomb fan either, which is kind of LUSH’s big thing. However I have read great reviews of loads of their products and they have great ethics when it comes to animal testing and using natural products – last year I reviewed a LUSH fresh facemask, Cosmetic Warrior, and it’s innovations like this that are totally different and where LUSH really stands out from its competitors. A couple of weeks ago I was invited to the big reopening event of the LUSH store in York. The store had been closed for a few weeks while it was being refurbished and I was very excited to see the result. We were welcomed to the store with drinks and a welcome speech from the store manager....

Neal’s Yard Remedies Blogger Event, Leeds

Neal’s Yard Remedies Blogger Event, Leeds

A couple of weeks ago I was invited to the Neal’s Yard Remedies store in Victoria Quarter, Leeds, to their blogger day. Their aim was to educate bloggers from around the Yorkshire area about their natural skincare and bodycare products. I recently reviewed their amazing Mothers Bath Oil but I have to admit that this was the only product from Neal’s Yard Remedies that I’d tried so I was looking forward to finding out more. I was welcomed to the store with a glass of fizz and a selection of superb vegan canapés… The event was very informal, first of all I chatted to one of their staff (really sorry I can’t remember her name!) and she told me about the background of Neal’s Yard Remedies – starting off in the back streets of Covent Garden 30 years ago and developing into a national brand. We then discussed my skincare regime and which of their products might be right for me. One of the products she recommended was Wild Rose...

Kiehl’s VIP Blogger Evening in York

Kiehl’s VIP Blogger Evening in York

Last Wednesday I was lucky enough to be invited along to the Kiehl’s VIP Blogger Event at their store in York. I’d visited the store a few weeks ago and had my skin diagnosed by Store Manager Hannah, then received a free mini facial that I wrote about here, and I’ve been using their products since so I was looking forward to seeing what other bloggers thought about the Kiehl’s experience. Just a few years ago the only Kiehl’s stores in the UK were in London, but now there are a lot more and they appear in many major cities throughout the country. The York store is only small, it’s nestled away on traditional Stonegate next to Mulberry Hall and opposite White Stuff – blink and you’ll miss it! But once inside the old fashioned building the store goes way back and there was plenty of room to accommodate the 7 bloggers that attended the evening. We were welcomed into the store with bubbly and strawberries, then Kiehl’s Store...

Crabtree & Evelyn – Garden Celebration Blogger Event, York

Crabtree & Evelyn – Garden Celebration Blogger Event, York

I was lucky enough to attend the Garden Celebration blogger event held at the Crabtree & Evelyn store in York last Thursday evening. The event was being held to celebrate the new garden-inspired bodycare ranges and the theme was all things afternoon tea! We were welcomed with fizz, fruit juice or one of Crabtree & Evelyn’s own fruit tea blends and invited to have a luxurious hand treatment. I had a hand scrub using Rosewater Hand Recovery Scrub and my hands were then moisturised and massaged using the matching Rosewater Hand Therapy moisturiser. I love the fragrance of rose, and these products smell really natural, not over-sweet like you sometimes get with synthetic rose fragrances. My hands were left smelling lovely and fragrant for the rest of the evening! After this I had a look round at all of the bodycare products that Crabtree & Evelyn had to offer. I’d been under the impression that the brand was a bit ‘old ladyish’ (sorry Crabtree & Evelyn!), but no more! I...

Voluspa – Suede Blanc Votive Candle

Voluspa – Suede Blanc Votive Candle

I purchased this small Voluspa Suede Blanc Votive Candle from Imaginarium in York last week (if you live in the York area you should definitely visit Imaginarium, the shop window displays themselves are worth the visit). I had never heard of Voluspa before, it is a luxury US candle brand. Fueled by a love for art, fragrance and elegant illumination, Troy and Traci Arntsen created their first scented candle in their kitchen in 1999, and the brand took off from there. I was attracted by the traditional luxury style logo and wording on the box, and when I smelled the buttery soft scent I was hooked. Voluspa describe the scent of Suede Blanc… ‘buttery soft sueded leather and rich cedar combine in a blend that is both exotic and refined’. It’s only a small 3oz votive candle, but I have it on the side of the bath and light it whenever I have a soak. It’s my little bit of luxury! The candle wax is a coconut wax blend,...
