The lip balm that tastes good enough to eat!

The lip balm that tastes good enough to eat!

I picked up this cute Bee Good Raspberry & White Chocolate Lip Balm* in my goody bag from a recent blogger event that I attended in Leeds, the #LeedsMarchMeet. It was a social meeting for bloggers who live in the Leeds area and the aim was to raise money and collect donations for a local foodbank. I had a great time at #LeedsMarchMeet, it’s always nice to meet other bloggers – they’re such a friendly bunch! We also got crafty making our own name badges and feasted on sweets and tasty homemade cakes. There were several health and beauty goodies in my goody bag including this lip balm from Bee Good. The brand was created in 2008 by a Hampshire beekeeper and his wife when they were looking to find uses for excess honey and beeswax from their bees. The brand has leaping bunny status, meaning that their products aren’t tested on animals, and the natural ingredients of the lip balm include British beeswax, Vitamin E, Borage Oil and Echium...

White & Glitter Nails

White & Glitter Nails

I purchased Barry M’s Matt White Nail Paint ages ago but thought it looked a bit stark worn on its own (it looks a little bit like you’ve painted your nails in Tipp-Ex if you don’t do it really neatly!). So I decided to pair it up with a glitter polish to create a vivid sparkly effect. I decided to use Diamond Arcade from Nails Inc, one of the most vibrant and sparkly glitter polishes that I’ve tried. Nails Inc called it a ‘Nail Jewellery Top Coat’ and when the light catches the glitter particles it really can look like you’re wearing jewellery on your nails! First I painted 2 coats of the Barry M Matt White Nail Paint over my nails and left to dry. It very opaque and works really well as a base colour – it would also work well as part of a French manicure or to create white accents in a nail art design. Then I painted a coat of the Nails Inc Diamond Arcade...

Botanicals – Radiance Serum

Botanicals – Radiance Serum

I love natural skincare brand Botanicals and have recently also reviewed their Cleansing Melt and Nourishing Face Balm. All of Botanicals’ products are blended by hand in rural England and contain no no petrochemicals or synthetic additives, plus they are approved by the Soil Association, are suitable for vegans and are never tested on animals. Radiance Serum is a blend of natural oils that give revitalising effects to the skin. The main ingredients include apricot kernel oil, avocado oil, grapeseed oil, rosehip oil, jojoba, evening primrose, lavender, mandarin and chamomile. Avocado is known to increase collagen in the skin giving a plumping effect and is sometimes known as ‘nature’s botox’! The scent of Radiance Serum is beautiful, the lavender really comes through but it also has a citrusy undertone and it smells natural and relaxing. Although it’s called a serum it’s really a golden coloured oil – it’s very different to the consistency of other serums that you’d find on the high street – and I’ve been using it as a...

Zatchels – White Ditsy Floral Micro Satchel Review

Zatchels – White Ditsy Floral Micro Satchel Review

I love the current trend for satchels, I used to have a traditional brown leather-trimmed canvas one as my schoolbag when I was very young, but I adore the vibrant colours and patterns that they are available in now. Last Summer I purchased my first modern satchel from Zatchels – a UK company that promotes traditional British manufacturing, every satchel ordered is made to order in Leicester from high quality leather. You may be interested to read my previous review of my Zatchels Candy Gold Cracked Metallic Satchel. When I saw that Zatchels were having a Summer sale I was very excited, I was planning to order an 11.5 inch floral one but unfortunately they all sold out before I got a chance to order. I then noticed that there was a new limited edition smaller Micro-Satchel available (7 inches wide) in the half-price sale and I wasn’t going to let this one get away! I ordered the White Ditsy Floral Micro Satchel (it’s also available with a purple...

Barry M – Textured Glitter Nail Paint in Lady

Barry M – Textured Glitter Nail Paint in Lady

This is my third and final review of Barry M’s Textured Glitter Nail Paint. I have recently reviewed the golden Majesty shade (you can read that review here) and the pink Princess shade (you can read that review here). Today I am reviewing the white Lady shade, and I have to say I think it’s my favourite out of the three! I absolutely adore a good glitter nail polish, and I rate them on how dense the glitter is. Some glittery polishes look amazing in the bottle, but then when you paint them onto the nails they look sad and washed out, and you need at least 4 coats to get a good glittery coverage… not so with these Textured Glitter Nail Paints from Barry M! After just one coat the nail is covered with glitter and it’s really sparkly and dense. Lady is a pale creamy white colour with a gold shimmer undertone.  The image above shows how it looks after just 2 coats. The white and golden...

Black toothpaste?

Black toothpaste?

Yes, you read that right… black toothpaste! I was asked to try this out by Beverly Hills Formula and I was both intrigued and disgusted when I received it. Do you remember when Heinz launched a limited edition green ketchup a few years back? I felt the same then, some things are not meant to be a different colour! The thought of a black toothpaste is just something that’s never crossed my mind and it seems counter-intuitive to use something black to clean and whiten. Now for the sciencey bit… the reason that this toothpaste is black is because it contains activated charcoal which is known to eliminate bacteria and therefore prevent bad breath. Activated charcoal is also useful at removing tannins, these include coffee, tea and red wine, and these are the things that cause teeth to stain. So the toothpaste is able to gently remove stains from teeth without being too abrasive. Beverly Hills Formula recommend that the best whitening results can be seen after brushing for...

Handmade Christmas Gift Tags

Handmade Christmas Gift Tags

I just thought I would share the Christmas gift tags that I handmade earlier this week. The wrapping paper I will be using this year is red and white, from Paperchase, so I wanted tags that would match the colour scheme. I bought the blank cream tags at the Country Baskets store in Leeds, then found all the rest of the items in my craft stash! I found the little reindeer image on the internet and printed those and the ‘Happy Christmas’ wording using the PC and a basic colour inkjet printer. The ornate silver and white patterned paper was left over from when I made our wedding invitations a few years ago. And I’ve had the little red metal roses for quite a while but they’re a bit too bulky and spiky to go on cards. I have cut some lengths of white ribbon to use to tie the Christmas gift tags onto the presents. I think they’re going to look great! If you enjoyed reading this blog...

Ahava – DeadSea Water Mineral Body Lotion

Ahava – DeadSea Water Mineral Body Lotion

This week I was asked to try DeadSea Water Mineral Body Lotion from Ahava. You may not have heard of Ahava before, the brand was formed in 1988 when they started doing clinical research into the powerful effects of the Dead Sea’s rich selection of minerals in facilitating skin renewal. All Ahava products are paraben free, SLS free, not tested on animals, and contain the Osmoter™ — a perfectly balanced concentrate of Dead Sea minerals that effective replenishes, rehydrates and recharges the skin. This Mineral Body Lotion is a white cream. As you can see from the image below it is ever so slightly gelatinous with a sort of lumpy texture to it and I think it is this that allows it to melt into the skin really quickly. I had expected that this Mineral Body Lotion would have some kind of natural seaweed-y smell given that it contains minerals from the Dead Sea, however it has a very strong traditional floral scent. Personally the fragrance is too strong...
