Rimmel – Scandaleyes Waterproof Kohl Kajal Pencil in Silver

Rimmel – Scandaleyes Waterproof Kohl Kajal Pencil in Silver

My name is Laura and I am addicted to coloured eye pencils…… there, I’ve admitted it! I do love a good coloured eye pencil, my make-up box is home to a fair selection of dark and brightly coloured Urban Decay 24/7 Glide-On Eye Pencils, but I don’t think Urban Decay has a good range of paler colours so I was on a mission to bag myself something a bit paler and shimmery… and this Scandaleyes Waterproof Kohl Kajal Pencil in Silver just fits the bill. The tip of the pencil is really really soft and this makes it really easy to apply to the eye, you hardly need to press at all and it doesn’t cause the skin to drag. What’s more, once it has been on the skin for a couple of minutes it becomes really waterproof – after I had applied the pencil to my arm to take the below swatch image I tried hard to remove it just using warm water and cotton wool and it...

Max Factor – False Lash Effect Mascara

Max Factor – False Lash Effect Mascara

Max Factor False Lash Effect Mascara is the mascara that I use every day, and I have been doing so for a good few years. I’ve tried other mascaras but nothing seems to quite live up to this one for me, plus it has won several awards including the Style Magazine 2009 Beauty Awards ‘Best Mascara’ award. False Lash Effect Mascara is available in 2 colours – black and black/brown – I wear the black one and I find the result on my lashes is nice and black with a good coverage. Max Factor say this mascara ‘doubles lash size appearance vs bare lashes’ and it certainly does with mine, although my lashes are quite fair particularly if they haven’t recently been tinted so mascara is a must for me. The brush is nice and thick with tiny little plastic bristles. It did take me a while to get used to this brush when I first started using False Lash Effect Mascara but now I love it, it’s really...

Helen E – Waterproof Protective Lip Liner in Shade 4

Helen E – Waterproof Protective Lip Liner in Shade 4

This Waterproof Protective Lip Liner from Helen E was in my June Glossybox. I had tried other Helen E lip products out in the past with differing results, so I was interested to try out this lip pencil. Helen E is a relatively new UK makeup brand, founded by owner Helen Elowe in 1999. This product is a fairly simple waterproof lip liner pencil with a lid – it ‘does what it says on the tin’ basically – there’s nothing fancy or special about it, but it delivers what you expect from a lip liner. Shade 4 is a mid-to-dark red colour which works well worn together with both red and brown lipsticks. The pencil is really nice and soft and easy to apply and also sharpens fairly easily which is imperative for a lip pencil in order to continue producing a nice sharp, even line. I am pleased to say that this Waterproof Protective Lip Liner in Shade 4 has restored my faith in Helen E products and I would...

Jelly Pong Pong – Fairy Lashes Mascara

Jelly Pong Pong – Fairy Lashes Mascara

This Fairy Lashes Mascara from Jelly Pong Pong was nestled inside my May Glossybox. I had heard of Jelly Pong Pong before but had never tried any of their products, and I just loved the design on the box so I was very excited to try this. The Jelly Pong Pong philosophy is all about ‘creating products which evoke the dreamer in you’ and I guess this is why they named this mascara ‘Fairy Lashes’. Jelly Pong Pong’s packaging is really pretty with boxes displaying flower illustrations and flowing fonts, but this feel doesn’t necessarily follow through to the products themselves – the mascara tube is a plain purple and rather boring when compared with the pretty box. Fairy Lashes water-resistant mascara was developed to make ‘eyelashes thicker & curvier while allowing them to be spectacularly soft & light’ and I did find that it applied really nicely. The brush is smallish and very easy to use, and it gives a fairly even application of mascara with no clumps....
