Amelia Moss Natural Skincare

Amelia Moss Natural Skincare

I’m a huge fan of natural skincare, I just hate those long ingredient lists that you get on a lot of skincare labels full of complicated words that you can’t pronounce and don’t know what they are. In fact a lot of the ingredients may not actually be anything that benefits your skin at all, they could be preservatives, emulsifiers, colours or fragrances and they may actually have a detrimental effect on your skin or your health. I’m also a great believer that using natural oils on your skin is the best way forward, ever since I first tried Rosehip Oil from Trilogy I’ve been hooked! A lot of people, particularly those with oily skins, are very nervous of using oils as cleansers or moisturisers as they worry that it may make their skin even more oily. But it doesn’t, in fact using natural oils on your skin actually counteracts your skin’s natural oiliness and can help your skin to calm down. Recently I was contacted by Amelia Moss...

Christmas treats from Roger & Gallet

Christmas treats from Roger & Gallet

Well, it’s December so we’re officially allowed to think about Christmas! And when we think about Christmas we have to talk about one of the brands that does gifts so well – Roger & Gallet. I’ve reviewed several of their products in the past, in particular their fragrances and hand creams, and they all make perfect gifts as their packaging is so beautiful. Today I’m reviewing two items from the Bois d’Orange fragrance collection: Bois d’Orange Eau Fraiche Parfumee* – I’d expected this Fragrant Water to smell really fruity and orangey but it doesn’t. The scent is supposed to encompass the leaves, flowers and wood of the orange tree as well as the fruit, so it’s more woody and musky than just an orange fragrance. I think it smells quite classic and traditional. The scent is quite light as this is a fragrant water rather than a perfume, and it’s unisex so suitable for both men and women. The smooth glass bottle with its yellow and gold label doesn’t...

KOREAN BEAUTY – BRTC Jasmine Skincare

KOREAN BEAUTY – BRTC Jasmine Skincare

I am currently taking part in an initiative working with BNT News International, a global beauty/fashion/lifestyle and entertainment source based in Seoul, South Korea. I am helping BNT to promote a selection of new and exciting Korean beauty products to a UK audience, these are products that you probably won’t have seen before and some of them are really different and unique. You may have already seen some of my previous Korean beauty reviews, such as this post about Nature Republic Ginseng Royal Silk Watery Cream that I published last week. Today I’m reviewing a duo of skincare products from BRTC – this is a premium Korean skincare brand that I’d not heard of before receiving these products. Both packaged in purple boxes the products are from BRTC’s Jasmine Moist System collection. Jasmine Waterful Sleeping Pack* – this is an overnight face mask that you apply before bed then wash off in the morning. Overnight masks are a relatively new phenomenon here in the UK but over in Asia they’re a...

Micellar Water – should you believe the hype?

Micellar Water – should you believe the hype?

I feel like I’m the last blogger on earth to review a Micellar Water cleanser, reviews of this type of product were all the rage a few months ago but I thought I would wait for the hype to die down before trying it out for myself. I received this 125ml bottle of Garnier Micellar Cleansing Water in my July ‘My Little Box’ and was excited to see if it lived up to all of the great reviews that I’d seen. ‘Micellar’ is pronounced ‘my cellar’ and it refers to the chemical structure of the product which contains clusters of microscopic oil molecules called ‘micelles’ that attract dirt and grease. The best way to use the product is to apply some to a cotton wool pad then sweep it across the face to remove make-up and dirt, although if you are wearing full make-up you’ll probably need to go through 4 or 5 cotton wool pads to completely clean your face. The thing that I love about this Micellar...

Bee Good – Honey & Wild Water Mint 3-in-1 Cleansing Water

Bee Good – Honey & Wild Water Mint 3-in-1 Cleansing Water

All things honey and bee-related are really popular at the moment, plus it has recently been highlighted that honey has wonderful properties that help to treat and improve skin. This Bee Good Honey & Water Mint 3-in-1 Cleansing Water is made in Hampshire, UK, from the honey of British bees and other natural ingredients and contains no synthetics or parabens. This 3-in-1 Cleansing Water is a clear liquid with hardly any scent and it really does have 3 benefits – it dissolves and removes make-up, cleanses the skin like a cleanser and then tones and refreshes the skin. It should be applied to a cotton wool pad then swept over the face, with no need to rinse afterwards, and can be used morning and night. Personally I don’t like products where there is no need to rinse as I don’t like the feeling of a product being left on the skin, so I have been using it as a pre-cleanse to remove make-up before using my usual Eucerin Dermo...

La Roche-Posay – Thermal Spring Water

La Roche-Posay – Thermal Spring Water

I was going to publish this post next week, but given the amazingly hot, sunny weather we’ve been having over the last few days I thought I’d better bring it forward and tell you about it now, as this Thermal Spring Water from La Roche-Posay has been a godsend this week. Thermal Spring Water is just basically water in a spray can…. but it’s natural spring water which is rich in selenium and other minerals that are beneficial for the skin, and as it’s just water it’s suitable for all skin types, even very sensitive skin. I’ve been keeping mine in the fridge then using it on my face and wrists when I feel like I’m overheating. It gives a nice spritz that evenly coats the skin in a fine mist of water, and it’s so lovely and chilled that it cools me right down. You could also use it in place of a toner after cleansing your face – La Roche-Posay recommend spraying it onto your face then...

Organic Surge – Orange Flower Toner

Organic Surge – Orange Flower Toner

I think it’s really important that we know what we are putting on our skin, and I am more and more often choosing natural and organic skincare products. One of my favourite organic brands is Organic Surge. Organic Surge products contain no parabens, sodium lauryl sulphate, no artificial fragrances or colourants and no genetically modified ingredients, neither are they tested on animals. I used to use Organic Surge’s Refreshing Toner, but they have recently reformulated it and created the new Orange Flower Toner. This is a fairly simple product, it is a cooling, refreshing pale orange coloured liquid toner with a lovely subtle Neroli orangey scent, it feels cooling on the skin and leaves it feeling really clean and fresh. It contains organic orange flower water which is renowned for its healing and regenerating properties. I apply Orange Flower Toner every night with a cotton wool pad after cleansing to help refresh my skin and remove every last trace of cleanser. After use my skin feels nice and cool,...

Ahava – DeadSea Water Mineral Body Lotion

Ahava – DeadSea Water Mineral Body Lotion

This week I was asked to try DeadSea Water Mineral Body Lotion from Ahava. You may not have heard of Ahava before, the brand was formed in 1988 when they started doing clinical research into the powerful effects of the Dead Sea’s rich selection of minerals in facilitating skin renewal. All Ahava products are paraben free, SLS free, not tested on animals, and contain the Osmoter™ — a perfectly balanced concentrate of Dead Sea minerals that effective replenishes, rehydrates and recharges the skin. This Mineral Body Lotion is a white cream. As you can see from the image below it is ever so slightly gelatinous with a sort of lumpy texture to it and I think it is this that allows it to melt into the skin really quickly. I had expected that this Mineral Body Lotion would have some kind of natural seaweed-y smell given that it contains minerals from the Dead Sea, however it has a very strong traditional floral scent. Personally the fragrance is too strong...
