La Roche-Posay – Anthelios XL Suncream

La Roche-Posay – Anthelios XL Suncream

Haven’t we been having the loveliest sunny weather recently here in the UK? I’ve loved waking up to sunshine, and it’s also given me a great opportunity to test out these 50+ SPF suncreams from La Roche-Posay. Designed for sensitive and sun intolerant skin these Anthelios XL products contain very high protection from both UVA and UVB rays (UVA rays are the ones that age our skin, and UVB rays are the ones that burn us). La Roche-Posay Anthelios XL Tinted Fluid* was the first of the two suncream products that I tried out. It’s really light, almost like a liquid so you have to be careful you don’t drip any when you’re applying it, plus it’s tinted a dark brown colour although the colour doesn’t look quite so dark once you’ve applied it. It feels a bit like a BB Cream (Beauty Balm Cream) once you’ve applied it to your face, although with it being so light in texture you would still need to apply a foundation product...

Barry M – Cor Balmy in Adam & Eve

Barry M – Cor Balmy in Adam & Eve

My sister called round last week with a little gift for me…. and it was this little Cor Balmy tinted lip balm from Barry M. Whenever I go shopping with my sister we always spend ages looking at Barry M nail varnishes and between us we have quite a collection, so it was very apt that she brought me something from Barry M! Cor Balmy is a collection of five SPF15 tinted lip balms, with a rich moisturising core enriched with Vitamin E, Jojoba Oil and Shea Butter to protect and revitalise dry lips. I think they were brought out to rival Maybelline Baby Lips lip balms, but from most of the reviews I’ve read the Barry M ones are better. My shade is called Adam & Eve, it’s a pale pink lip balm with a white moisturising core – you can see the core closely from the image above. It’s quite a thick, waxy lip balm – it’s perfect for very cold Winter days and chapped lips –...

Miners – Tin O’Tint Strawberry

Miners – Tin O’Tint Strawberry

When I think of the brand Miners it reminds me of the very first eyeshadow palette I had as a little girl (a cast-off from my Mum!), it was a pale blue duo and I used it when I was dressing up. Fast forward many years and I had pretty much forgotten about the brand, but they’re starting to make a come back. I was sent this cute little Miners Tin O’Tint Strawberry to try out, it’s a tinted lip balm and I just love the little round tin and it will be great for keeping earrings in when the lip balm is finished. The first thing that struck me with this product is the lovely strong strawberry scent (I’m a sucker for anything fruity). This Miners Tin O’Tint does have quite a strong red tint which is great, I often find that other tinted lip balms don’t actually have much colour to them. You can build up the colour on your lips by applying more of the lip...

My 3 favourite….. Lipcare Products

My 3 favourite….. Lipcare Products

This is the second in my occasional feature ‘My 3 favourite…..’ in which I choose my 3 favourite products from a particular category. Today I will be discussing my 3 favourite lipcare products and explaining why I like them so much. I’m a bit of a sucker for lip balms, particularly if they’re in cute packaging, but they don’t always live up to their claims so I have picked 3 lipcare products that actually work and have different benefits for the lips. The first lipcare product that really makes the grade is Lip Glow Color Reviver Balm from Dior. I’ve been using this for a couple of years now and absolutely love it! It’s sort of a cross between a lip balm and a lipstick – it has been designed to enhance the lips’ natural colour, and it reacts with your lips’ own ‘chemistry’ to make lips look pinker, fuller and radiant. The pale pink balm looks pretty much clear when you apply it to your lips, but after...

Clarins – HydraQuench Tinted Moisturizer

Clarins – HydraQuench Tinted Moisturizer

Today I am reviewing a new Clarins product, HydraQuench Tinted Moisturizer. I have combination skin with an oily nose and chin, but dry cheeks and forehead and I regularly use Clarins HydraQuench Lotion SPF15 (now called Hydra Essential Milky Lotion) as it suits my skin perfectly – you can read my review of that here. So when I was asked if I would like to try this Tinted Moisturizer from the HydraQuench family I didn’t need to think twice about it. I’ve been a huge fan of Clarins skincare and make-up for many years, in fact it was the first premium skincare brand that I bought from as I liked the fact that you could easily get samples to try at home first before you had to spend your hard-earned money on a full size product. I have been using the Sand shade which is the second lightest shade, a pale tan with a pinky undertone. It would be too dark for my pale skin in the Winter, but...

Tesco Soleil – Bronzing Protection Sun Lotion & Tinted Bronzing Lotion

Tesco Soleil – Bronzing Protection Sun Lotion & Tinted Bronzing Lotion

Last Bank Holiday weekend here in York the weather was lovely and sunny, so it was a perfect time for me to review this Bronzing Protection Sun Lotion* and Tinted Bronzing Lotion* from the Tesco Soleil range. I do find that the Tesco own-brand suncare products are great value for money and it’s always really convenient to be able to pick up beauty and skincare products whilst you are doing your weekly grocery shop. Soleil Bronzing Protection Sun Lotion – this sun lotion is very similar to any other standard sun lotion but much better value than brands like Nivea, etc. It has a medium SPF protection of 15, which is generally around the coverage that I like to use (I have fair skin but it tans quite easily without burning). It is a medium consistency lotion with a feint coconutty scent and it sinks into the skin fairly quickly. I have to point out that this lotion really isn’t sticky at all, which is one of the things...

Bobbi Brown – SPF 15 Tinted Moisturizer

Bobbi Brown – SPF 15 Tinted Moisturizer

Today I am reviewing SPF 15 Tinted Moisturizer from Bobbi Brown. I use this product a lot, it’s my go-to tinted moisturiser and I wear it most days. I’ve had this tube a while now and it’s almost empty. This tube is the old style, it has had a redesign to a slightly longer flatter tube, but other than that it has remained the same. The shade of SPF 15 Tinted Moisturizer that I wear is Light Tint, this is a pale creamy beige colour. There are 6 other shades available. The texture of this tinted moisturiser is really creamy and nice, and it gives a soft sheer finish on the skin. I rub a blob (about the size of a large pea!) between my fingers and then apply it to my face like I would with a regular moisturiser, but being careful to avoid my eyes, eyebrows and hairline. It gives a nice even coverage, but not too thick – it’s a great choice if you already have...

e.l.f. – Tinted Moisturiser SPF 15

e.l.f. – Tinted Moisturiser SPF 15

I have recently been testing out a few goodies from New York budget make-up brand e.l.f. (stands for Eyes Lips Face), and I have been fairly impressed with this little tube of tinted moisturiser. I do have to say it is a VERY little tube, just 12g! But it’s a great size for tucking inside a make-up bag or handbag and it’s great value too. It comes in a cardboard blister pack (pictured below) which I kind of like, it gives it an accessible ‘available to everyone’ kind of feel. If you’re a regular reader of Beauty Best Friend you will know that I like to protect my face from the sun during the day and this tinted moisturiser contains SPF15 which is enough to protect your face from the average everyday sunshine. e.l.f. Tinted Moisturiser SPF 15 is available in a choice of 7 shades, I chose ‘Rosy Beige’ which is a tanned beige colour with a hint of rosy pink. It does have quite an orangey tan to...
