Sweet treats from Patisserie De Bain

Sweet treats from Patisserie De Bain

How tempting does this selection of sweet treats from Patisserie de Bain look!? Patisserie de Bain (translated from French as ‘confectionery for the bath’) is a new brand from Rose & Co – a traditional British apothecary in the Yorkshire village of Haworth. Each piece is lovingly handmade in the UK from ingredients such as shea butter and almond oil and finished off with traditional English floral fragrances. I was lucky enough to receive this hamper full of pretty Patisserie de Bain bath goodies* to try out, plus a selection of scented handcreams which I’ll talk about later in the post. The first thing to strike me was the packaging, the pale pastel colours and doily decorations really make the products look like something you’d find in a sweet shop. Plus the products themselves look good enough to eat! Particularly this Cranberries & Cream Cupcake Soap, I think it looks like a real cake and with a warm berry fragrance it’s perfect for Winter. Actually this might be too pretty to...

Valley Mill – Soy Wax Melts & Natural Soap

Valley Mill – Soy Wax Melts & Natural Soap

I love natural bodycare and room fragrance, and if it’s handmade in the UK then all the better! Valley Mill make a wide range of natural products in Wales and they also sell a selection of quality homeware products from other like-minded Welsh manufacturers. They sent me this Natural Soap* and a pack of their Natural Soy Wax Melts* to try out… Valley Mill Natural Soap with Grapefruit & Fennel – these soaps are made with 100% natural Shea Butter and Coconut Oil in Wales. I chose the Grapefruit & Fennel one as I thought it sounded lovely and zesty, there are 5 other variations including Orange & Cinnamon which would be great for Christmas time. The soap is very rustic looking with rough edges and blemished surface but this adds to the handmade charm. It’s made in a block of two colours – dark brown at the top and green on the bottom. I think it looks a bit like a huge piece of fudge! It has a...

The Body Shop – Red Musk Perfume Oil & Vanilla Brulee Soap

The Body Shop – Red Musk Perfume Oil & Vanilla Brulee Soap

I love it when a brand brings out lots of new seasonal products for Christmas and that’s just what The Body Shop® have done. This is Red Musk Perfume Oil* and Vanilla Brulee Soap*, part of their new Christmas range. Both of these products have warm Wintery scents and are perfect for either using yourself whilst getting ready for the Christmas festivities or to give as a gift. Red Musk Perfume Oil – OK, who remembers The Body Shop® 1990s classic fragrance White Musk®? Well this time they’ve created an updated musk fragrance with hot notes of cinnamon and tobacco, it is rich and heady with a warming scent, a bit like mulled wine. It’s not too musky but there’s definitely an undertone of spicy musk which lasts on the skin well after the other notes have worn off. I really love the colour graduated glass bottle and the red box. Attached inside the lid is a little plastic spatula that you use to dip into the perfume oil...

Radox – Uplifting Pink Grapefruit & Basil Handwash

Radox – Uplifting Pink Grapefruit & Basil Handwash

Just a quick review for you today of Radox Uplifting Pink Grapefruit & Basil Handwash. I picked this up from the supermarket recently, to keep on the side of the sink in our bathroom. Pink grapefruit is one of my favourite scents (check out my reviews of Burt’s Bees Lip Balm with Pink Grapefruit and The Body Shop Pink Grapefruit Eau de Toilette if you like the scent too!). The product itself is a transparent pinky coloured gel, it looks a really pretty colour in the bottle. The handwash lathers up really quickly but has quite a spicy fragrance rather than the usual sweet citrussy scent that I was expecting. I couldn’t pick out the basil in the fragrance either. This Radox handwash is pleasant but I have to say it’s not my favourite pink grapefruit beauty product that I’ve tried. Plus it contains sodium laureth sulfate – the ingredient which makes most soaping products lather – which can be quite harsh and I usually try to avoid it....

Somerset Toiletry Company – Website Relaunch

Somerset Toiletry Company – Website Relaunch

To celebrate the relaunch of their website Somerset Toiletry Company were kind enough to send me a trio of bodycare products to try out. Somerset Toiletry Company is the home of 5 brands – Gardener’s Therapy, Aromas Artesanales De Antigua, Greenscape, Tropical Fruits and Naturally European. Regular readers of Beauty Best Friend may remember that I have previously reviewed Greenscape Organic Cocoa Butter Foaming Hand Wash and a couple of the Naturally European Luxury Hand Wash range – Rose Petal and my favourite Ginger & Lime. The Naturally European, Gardener’s Therapy and Greenscape ranges are all completely free from SLS and Parabens and all use natural ingredients. My favourite of the three products is Naturally European Verbena Luxury Hand Cream*. This thick, rich white hand cream contains 20% shea butter and has a heavenly citrusy lemon scent – it really reminds me of L’Occitane Verbena Moisturising Hand Lotion, except this one is much richer (and cheaper!). As the Verbena Luxury Hand Cream is so rich you only need a...

Janjira – Thai Lime & Ginger Hand Wash

Janjira – Thai Lime & Ginger Hand Wash

I always try to use hand washes made from natural ingredients that don’t contain sodium laureth sulfate (SLS) and this Thai Lime & Ginger Hand Wash from Janjira fits the bill. The Janjira brand was born in Thailand, hence the exotic sounding name, and none of their products contains parabens, paraffins or sulphates – neither are they tested on animals. The Janjira philosophy is all about experiencing spa-inspired products in your own home. The product that I have been using is a small sample size tube of Thai Lime & Ginger Hand Wash that I recently received in my Dream Box (a collaboration beauty box between Latest In Beauty and British Beauty Blogger) but the full size product is a rather handsome tall dark green pump bottle, as you can see from the image above. The hand wash itself is a thick, clear gel which foams fairly easily when added to water but does still feel quite thick in your hands and needs a thorough rinsing. It has a...

Naturally European – Ginger & Lime Luxury Hand Wash

Naturally European – Ginger & Lime Luxury Hand Wash

I recently purchased this Ginger & Lime Luxury Hand Wash from Naturally European to put by the sink in my kitchen. I have previously used their Rose Petal Luxury Hand Wash (you can read my review of that here) and really loved it, plus Naturally European’s products do not contain any parabens or SLS and are not tested on animals which is great. Naturally European’s products are all based on traditional fragrances, and include rose petal, lavender, milk and verbena. I think their bottles look really nice and classy too, I love the traditional style of the labels. It’s a nice big 500ml bottle too so it will last for ages. A squirt of this hand wash is quite generous and it also gives a really good slippery soapy lather which can be quite rare with SLS-free products. The fragrance is lovely and citrussy when you’re actually using it and I struggled to detect the scent of ginger…. but after your hands have been dried it leaves behind a...

Shave your legs without using shaving gel

Shave your legs without using shaving gel

This Wilkinson Sword Intuition razor came in my December Glossybox. I was a bit surprised as it wasn’t the sort of thing I expected to find in a subscription box, but we all need a razor right? The first thought that struck me is that it is rather large – this is because it is a 3-in-1 product that has a big solid soap around the razor that lathers and moisturises while you shave. This means you can shave without the need to apply shaving foam or shower gel first, and the solid soap contains Natural Aloe and is enriched with Vitamin E to help care for your skin. The Intuition Naturals razor is really easy to use, just wet the end of the razor (or your legs) and then use. The razor glides along the skin really easily and gives a nice close shave. I did find it a bit cumbersome though as it is so big, and a bit difficult to manoeuvre around bony areas such as knees...
