In the image above the silver grey cream on the left is Truffle Noir and the beige cream on the right is Skin Truffle. Skin Truffle is an award-winning moisturiser with some seriously impressive ingredients – including diamond powder, silk, grape seed champagne and black truffle! Can this treatment really cure your acne?

Can this treatment really cure your acne?

I suffered from severe acne in my teens and have suffered on and off from mild acne for the rest of my adult life. In some ways it can be more embarrassing as an adult as everyone assumes that it’s a teenage affliction and that you grow out of it, but not always so. I’ve visited the doctor many times and received several different treatments – none of which have worked for any length of time. Thankfully I have managed to find ways of coping with my acne and hiding it to some extent and I have found that using natural skincare products improves my skin slightly. I was asked a few weeks ago if I would be interested in trying out this Acne Gel from Gladskin, the Acne Gel contains the active ingredient Staphefekt which kills only the bad bacteria that often cause infections during acne. Killing this bacteria can prevent and reduce symptoms such as redness and pimples. The Gladskin website reports that 84% of people who have tried Acne...

Living Nature – Sensitive Day Moisture

Living Nature – Sensitive Day Moisture

It’s been a while since I did a post about natural skincare, but it’s something that I’m really passionate about as I think it’s important we know exactly what ingredients we are putting onto our skin. If you’ve not heard of Living Nature before it was launched in 1987 in New Zealand. Their products contain no synthetics, use only 100% natural ingredients, preservatives and fragrances and are never tested on animals. Their full range of cosmetics and skincare is Certified Natural by BDIH Germany, and their policy is ‘if there is any doubt about the safety of an ingredient, we don’t use it’. I love their philosophy! They also harness a lot of New Zealand’s native botanicals like Manuka Oil, Hallo Clay and Kelp and use these within their products. I’ve been using new Sensitive Day Moisture cream for almost two weeks now, part of Living Nature’s new Sensitive range. It’s a perfectly pH balanced, gentle daytime moisturiser that contains Organic Virgin Coconut Oil, Harakeke Flax Extract and Avocado Oil. The Harakeke...

Botanicals – Hydrating Mist With Rose & Camellia

Botanicals – Hydrating Mist With Rose & Camellia

Botanicals is one of my favourite skincare brands and I have previously reviewed a few of their products including Radiance Serum and Cleansing Melt. All of Botanicals’ skincare products are natural and organic, plus they aren’t tested on animals and are suitable for vegans. It quite often scares me when I read through the list of ingredients on many skincare products to see all the chemicals that are included and I imagine what these could be doing to my body (many of the chemicals included within regular products are preservatives, colourings and fragrances that don’t add any benefit to our skin). So I find it really refreshing and reassuring when I read the list of ingredients on a Botanicals product and I recognise so many of them as being natural. Hydrating Mist With Rose & Camellia is 100% organic and natural and is certified by The Soil Association. Its ingredients include Rose oil and Camellia Extract, and it’s suitable for all skin types but particularly dry or mature skins. Botanicals also...

Is Sebamed Clear Face skincare the answer for acne?

Is Sebamed Clear Face skincare the answer for acne?

I’d never heard of Sebamed when I was approached by them to see if I would try out some of their products. Their Clear Face collection is a range of products developed for acne prone skin, it reminds me of the sort of thing I would have used back when I was a teenager when there seemed to be loads of this sort of thing around (anyone remember Biactol!?). I was sent a Sebamed Clear Face 3-step skincare regime to try, consisting of Cleansing Bar, Deep Cleansing Facial Toner and Care Gel and I was asked to use them for a month to see what effect they had on my skin. I have combination skin with an oily chin and nose, and I am very prone to spots particularly on my chin, along my jawline and just under my cheekbones. The Clear Face range has been developed to restore skin’s pH level to 5.5 – that of a healthy skin. Sebamed Clear Face Cleansing Bar – I just LOVE a...

Dibi Milano – Pure Perfection Sebo-Balance Cream & Cleansing Gel

Dibi Milano – Pure Perfection Sebo-Balance Cream & Cleansing Gel

I’d never heard of Dibi Milano before a couple of weeks ago, but I have a feeling they’re going to be big news over the coming months. It’s one of Italy’s best-selling skincare brands and they’ve recently launched here in the UK. Their products are split into seven product lines, each one targeting a specific skin issue including sensitive skin, dull skin and wrinkles. I was sent two products from the Pure Perfection range, aimed at oily and problem skin, which help to balance the production of sebum (oil) and fight bacterial growth. Pure Perfection Sebo-Balance Cleansing Gel* – this is a translucent pale golden cleansing gel that you can use morning and night to cleanse the skin. I found it a bit strange because you expect it to foam when you apply it but it doesn’t, it works a bit more like a cream cleanser in that you massage it into the skin then rinse it off with warm water. The bottle is very rigid and I found...

Are your feet ready for Summer?

Are your feet ready for Summer?

Not a very glamorous review for you today, but a necessary one nonetheless! With only a few weeks to go until Summer, and the British weather already dishing up several days of sunshine, it’s time to start getting your feet ready for those Summer sandals. I was lucky enough to be sent this footcare kit by Premier Healthcare so that I could explain to my readers the steps to take to help get feet Summer-ready. Premier Healthcare supply healthcare products and medical aids online, so all these products are medically proved to have great results. First up is Gehwol Fußpuder* – translated as Foot Powder! It’s just like talcum powder but it’s been specially developed for use on the feet and it has ingredients that deodorise and help to prevent fungal infections. The powder is really fine and it has a nice light lemony scent. Just sprinkle a little onto the feet and between the toes after having a shower, or if your feet are feeling hot, and it...

Why you shouldn’t be afraid of using oils on your skin

Why you shouldn’t be afraid of using oils on your skin

The skincare shelves are full of oils these days…. oils for cleansing, oils for moisturising, oils to be used as serums…. but a lot of people are still a bit scared of using an oil product on their skin, particularly if they have oily skin as they believe that these products will exacerbate the problem. I have combination skin, with a very oily nose and chin and dry, flaky forehead and cheeks, and have been using oil products on my skin for around 2 years now with great results. When I was younger I was very scared of using rich moisturisers and oils on my chin, convinced they would make the oiliness worse and cause spots. As a result I often didn’t apply enough moisturiser and the oiliness started to get worse – this was my skin over-compensating for the lack of moisture I was giving it. Now I understand a lot better how the skin works and I am able to treat it much more kindly. Firstly I...
