Roger & Gallet – Precious Revitalizing Balm

Roger & Gallet – Precious Revitalizing Balm

Roger & Gallet are really good at taking one of their fragrances and then developing lots of bodycare products around it. They’ve recently released a new collection of moisturising body balms in three of their bestselling fragrances – Fleur d’Osmanthus, Fleur de Figuier and Rose. This trio of balms has been created to nourish and cocoon the skin in comfort whilst adding a gentle scent. I was sent the Precious Revitalizing Balm in the Fleur d’Osmanthus* to try out. Roger & Gallet suggest that the Fleur d’Osmanthus fragrance ‘transports you into a Chinese Garden of Eden’, it’s made up of the scent of the Osmanthus flower plus mandarin, grapefruit and benzoin essential oils. It’s quite a floral bouquet with a note of white tea. Personally it’s not my favourite of Roger & Gallet’s scents, it’s a bit too floral and Summery for me. My first observation was that the fragrance is quite strong with this body balm so it’s perfect for layering with the other products in this collection – including the Sorbet...

Christmas treats from Roger & Gallet

Christmas treats from Roger & Gallet

Well, it’s December so we’re officially allowed to think about Christmas! And when we think about Christmas we have to talk about one of the brands that does gifts so well – Roger & Gallet. I’ve reviewed several of their products in the past, in particular their fragrances and hand creams, and they all make perfect gifts as their packaging is so beautiful. Today I’m reviewing two items from the Bois d’Orange fragrance collection: Bois d’Orange Eau Fraiche Parfumee* – I’d expected this Fragrant Water to smell really fruity and orangey but it doesn’t. The scent is supposed to encompass the leaves, flowers and wood of the orange tree as well as the fruit, so it’s more woody and musky than just an orange fragrance. I think it smells quite classic and traditional. The scent is quite light as this is a fragrant water rather than a perfume, and it’s unisex so suitable for both men and women. The smooth glass bottle with its yellow and gold label doesn’t...

Roger & Gallet – Gingembre Rouge Sorbet Body Lotion

Roger & Gallet – Gingembre Rouge Sorbet Body Lotion

I’ve got another Roger & Gallet product review for you today, it’s Sorbet Body Lotion* from the Gingembre Rouge collection. I previously reviewed the citrusy Cedrat Sorbet Body Lotion last Christmas and really liked it, so I was really looking forward to trying out this candy pink variety. The Body Lotion itself is a pearlised white cream – it’s just the bottle that is pink – but it’s actually nice that it doesn’t have any colourings added. ‘Gingembre Rouge’ translates from French as ‘red ginger’, although personally I don’t think that the fragrance is at all gingery, it’s more fruity with a sweet spicy undertone. The ingredients do include extract of Ginger Root though, plus nourishing Aloe Vera and Pomegranate Oil which is probably where the fruitiness comes from. The Sorbet Body Lotion feels light and refreshing on the skin, perfect for the warmer Summer months, and the tiny pearl flecks within the lotion leave a radiance on the surface of the skin. To build up the fragrance you...

Roger & Gallet – Bienfaits Invigorating Shower Gel

Roger & Gallet – Bienfaits Invigorating Shower Gel

‘Bienfaits’ is French for ‘benefits’, and this shower gel from Roger & Gallet has been designed to give your skin just that. I’ve already tried their Bienfaits Hand & Nail Cream and really liked it so I was looking forward to trying this Bienfaits Invigorating Shower Gel*. The product itself is a clear gel with a nice sharp citrusy scent, it contains essences of blood orange, mandarin and lemon which is where the zingy scent comes from and it’s the perfect shower gel to use in a morning to help wake you up in the shower. Not only is this Roger & Gallet shower gel invigorating, it also contains soothing aloe vera to help moisturise skin naturally. The formula is soap-free and also free of sulphates, parabens and colours – I always try to avoid sulphates in shower products if I can as I have a rather sensitive scalp which reacts to certain sulphate ingredients. Despite being soap-free and sulphate-free the Bienfaits Invigorating Shower Gel gives quite a good lather...

Perfume Of The Day – Roger & Gallet Fleur de Figuier Eau de Parfum

Perfume Of The Day – Roger & Gallet Fleur de Figuier Eau de Parfum

You may have guessed by now that I’m a bit obsessed with the Fleur de Figuier fragrance from French brand Roger & Gallet, this is the fourth product in the range that I’ve reviewed now! I first fell in love with the fruity scent last year when I tried out the Huile Gourmande (it was one of my favourite products of 2014) and now I’m using the Eau de Parfum*. The Fleur de Figuier range encompasses both the fruit and the flower of the fig, plus mandarin flowers. It’s quite fruity and reminds me a bit of The Body Shop’s 1980s favourite fragrance Dewberry, I could just sit and sniff it all day! Being an Eau de Parfum this product is much stronger than the Eau Fraiche that I reviewed a few weeks ago, as this one contains more alcohol. The Eau de Parfum also smells slightly more floral and less fruity than the other products in the range. The angular glass bottle looks a bit more old fashioned than...

Perfume Of The Day – Roger & Gallet Fleur de Figuier Eau Fraiche

Perfume Of The Day – Roger & Gallet Fleur de Figuier Eau Fraiche

My favourite fragrance at the moment is this Fleur de Figuier Eau Fraiche* from Roger & Gallet. I fell in love with the fig scent last year when I first tried out their Huile Gourmande in the same fragrance (it was one of my favourite products of 2014) and now I can spritz away in the form of this Fresh Fragrant Water spray. The Fleur de Figuier range encompasses both the fruit and the flower of the fig, plus mandarin flowers. It’s quite fruity and reminds me a bit of The Body Shop’s 1980s favourite fragrance Dewberry, I could just sit and sniff it all day! The fragrance is much lighter than the oil, and being a fragrant water it can wear off quite quickly, but it’s perfect for Summer and the warmer weather when you don’t want an overpowering fragrance. It would also be amazing spritzed onto cotton wool balls and then hidden in a wardrobe or underwear drawers to give clothes and linen a pretty fragrance. The tall...

Roger & Gallet – Hand & Nail Balms

Roger & Gallet – Hand & Nail Balms

I’ve only had these new Roger & Gallet Hand & Nail Balms* for just over a week, but I’ve used them every day and I just couldn’t wait any longer to tell you about them! I love French brand Roger & Gallet – created in 1862 they’ve been around a long time – their products are both traditional and modern at the same time and they make lovely gifts. Only recently launched, the Hand & Nail Balms are available in two fragrances – Bienfaits and Fleur de Figuier. My absolute favourite is Fleur de Figuier, I love this scent and you may remember that last Summer I reviewed the matching Fleur de Figuier Huile Gourmande, a fruity body oil. The fragrance reminds me a bit of The Body Shop’s 1980s favourite fragrance Dewberry, it’s rich and fruity – good enough to eat! The Fleur de Figuier scent is so uplifting, perfect for Summer, and just smelling it makes me feel happy! The product itself is a pale pink thick cream that sinks into the...

Roger & Gallet – Christmas Bodycare Selection

Roger & Gallet – Christmas Bodycare Selection

I love Roger & Gallet, their products look so pretty and traditional but with a modern edge, and they have a great range of gifts. Today I am looking at some of their new Christmas bodycare goodies. The Roger & Gallet range of Sorbet Body Lotions would look simply beautiful all lined up next to one another in their pretty pastel colours. I have been trying out the Citron (Cedrat) Sorbet Body Lotion* which comes in a pastel yellow pump bottle. It has a strong scent with overriding notes of citrus and mint, but I can also easily smell the more woody fragrances of cedar and white amber. The product itself is a white lotion, it’s fairly light and sinks in quickly leaving a lovely sheen on the surface of the skin. The scent is a little overpowering for me, I wouldn’t be able to apply a lot of it at once or I would feel overwhelmed, but it really is beautiful. The other fragrances in the Sorbet Body...
