Janjira – Thai Lime & Ginger Hand Wash

Janjira – Thai Lime & Ginger Hand Wash

I always try to use hand washes made from natural ingredients that don’t contain sodium laureth sulfate (SLS) and this Thai Lime & Ginger Hand Wash from Janjira fits the bill. The Janjira brand was born in Thailand, hence the exotic sounding name, and none of their products contains parabens, paraffins or sulphates – neither are they tested on animals. The Janjira philosophy is all about experiencing spa-inspired products in your own home. The product that I have been using is a small sample size tube of Thai Lime & Ginger Hand Wash that I recently received in my Dream Box (a collaboration beauty box between Latest In Beauty and British Beauty Blogger) but the full size product is a rather handsome tall dark green pump bottle, as you can see from the image above. The hand wash itself is a thick, clear gel which foams fairly easily when added to water but does still feel quite thick in your hands and needs a thorough rinsing. It has a...

Naturally European – Ginger & Lime Luxury Hand Wash

Naturally European – Ginger & Lime Luxury Hand Wash

I recently purchased this Ginger & Lime Luxury Hand Wash from Naturally European to put by the sink in my kitchen. I have previously used their Rose Petal Luxury Hand Wash (you can read my review of that here) and really loved it, plus Naturally European’s products do not contain any parabens or SLS and are not tested on animals which is great. Naturally European’s products are all based on traditional fragrances, and include rose petal, lavender, milk and verbena. I think their bottles look really nice and classy too, I love the traditional style of the labels. It’s a nice big 500ml bottle too so it will last for ages. A squirt of this hand wash is quite generous and it also gives a really good slippery soapy lather which can be quite rare with SLS-free products. The fragrance is lovely and citrussy when you’re actually using it and I struggled to detect the scent of ginger…. but after your hands have been dried it leaves behind a...

Living Nature – Hydrating Toning Gel

Living Nature – Hydrating Toning Gel

You may have read my reviews of other Living Nature products on Beauty Best Friend, if so you may know that Living Nature is a certified natural skincare and cosmetic brand based in New Zealand and all of their products are made from 100% natural ingredients. I think it’s really important to know what we are actually putting onto and into our skin. I was recently offered the chance to try out this Hydrating Toning Gel* from Living Nature. I usually use a liquid toner from Organic Surge so this toning gel was something a bit different. Developed for oily and problematic skin, the aim of this toning gel is to restore the natural pH levels of the skin, and to help prevent oil overproduction, whilst naturally firming and toning the skin. It is a clear gel with a sweet floral scent and it should be applied after cleansing in both the morning and the evening. I wasn’t sure whether to apply it with my fingers or a cotton...

Living Nature – Thickening Mascara in Jet Black

Living Nature – Thickening Mascara in Jet Black

I noticed the other day that I haven’t done many mascara reviews recently, so today I am reviewing Thickening Mascara in Jet Black* from natural cosmetics experts Living Nature. Living Nature is a New Zealand beauty brand that uses only 100% natural ingredients, preservatives and fragrances in all of its products. You may have already read my review of their Precious pink lipstick, you can read that here if you missed it. The mascara brush is nothing fancy, just a regular traditional round brush with lots of bristles. The mascara itself is quite thick, and contains Halloysite clay to help thicken lashes, and prevent clumps. I do find it a little difficult to get plenty of mascara on the brush, and have to pump the brush in and out of the tube to get a good coating of the mascara on it (this can lead to the product drying out). Because of this it is easiest with this product to apply lots of thin coats and build up the...

Soap & Glory – Peaches and Clean 3-in-1 Wash-Off Deep Purifying Cleanser

Soap & Glory – Peaches and Clean 3-in-1 Wash-Off Deep Purifying Cleanser

Some eagle-eyed readers may have noticed that I already reviewed Peaches And Clean Cleanser a few months ago, but Soap & Glory have recently redeveloped their skincare range so I wanted to weigh up how the new version of Peaches And Clean performs against the old one. The old Peaches And Clean was one of my favourite cleansers (and could also double up as an exfoliating mask) so I was nervous to try out the new version and had my fingers crossed that it wouldn’t have changed too much. Soap & Glory have added OXYGINSENG Technology™ (their special oxygen boosting complex) to this product to re-energize and stimulate the skin, plus PEACH & GOJUICE™ Extracts (Peach Extract and Goji Berry extract) that are rich in Vitamin A, C and anti oxidants. They have also removed parabens from the cleanser which I think is a great move. The old product was described as a ‘4-in-1 Wash-Off Deep Cleansing Milk’ whereas the new one is a ‘3-in-1 Wash-Off Deep Purifying Cleanser’. The...

The hunt for the perfect pink lipstick #5

The hunt for the perfect pink lipstick #5

Welcome to the fifth episode of ‘The hunt for the perfect pink lipstick’! I am on the hunt… the hunt for the perfect pink lipstick that is ‘MLBB’ or ‘my lips but better’. You know, the sort of colour that looks from a distance like you’re not wearing lipstick, like you just have naturally pink, plump perfect lips. The sort of colour you can just slick on from the tube and doesn’t need painstaking application with liner and lipbrush. The sort of colour that looks like ‘my lips, but better’. Did you know that the average woman ingests 2.4 kilos of lipstick in her lifetime? Ewwww! Some lipsticks contain small amounts of lead which is poisonous, and other chemicals, so today I am reviewing Living Nature lipstick in Precious* that contains only 100% natural ingredients. Living Nature is a New Zealand beauty brand that uses only 100% natural ingredients, preservatives and fragrances in all of its products. This is the fifth lipstick that I have tested as part of...

Dr. Lipp – Original Nipple Balm For Lips

Dr. Lipp – Original Nipple Balm For Lips

Firstly, I just have to say that I hate the name of this product! It was originally formulated for breastfeeding women, which is where the name comes from, and contains 100% natural ingredients including lanolin. Original Nipple Balm For Lips probably isn’t a product that I would have purchased myself, it arrived in my September Glossybox, but I love natural products and I like the stylish grey and pink packaging so I was looking forward to trying it out. This product is the very definition of ‘multi-tasking’ – not only can it be used on lips (and nipples!) but also on dry skin, cuticles and sunburn. It can also be used with your make-up, to add gloss to the eyelids, highlight cheek bones or neaten eyebrows. You can see from the image above (apologies for the chipped paint job on the thumbnail!) how thick this balm is, I would describe it as more of a thick wax, and you only need a tiny bit for the lips. Personally I...

Origins – Starting Over & Clear Improvement

Origins – Starting Over & Clear Improvement

The last time I ordered online from Origins I received these 2 free samples of Starting Over Age-Erasing Moisturiser and Clear Improvement Active Charcoal Mask. Origins are really good like that and often offer free samples or free delivery if you spend over a certain amount, and these little mini-replica tubes are the perfect size to stash in an overnight bag or suitcase when you are going away. The Starting Over moisturiser is a thick white cream with a floral scent. The scent is a little bit strong for my liking but it isn’t unpleasant. The ingredients include Mimosa, Argan Leaf Extract and Green Algae and the product aims to improve the appearance of lines and wrinkles. Starting Over can be used morning and evening but I have just been using it in the evening as it doesn’t contain an SPF. It is actually a great moisturiser to apply at night as it is very thick and moisturising and gives your skin a real moisture boost while you are...
