Yogandha – Balance Roll-On Body Oil

Yogandha – Balance Roll-On Body Oil

If you’re a regular reader of Beauty Best Friend blog you may have noticed that I’ve been AWOL for a few days – that’s because I’ve been busy with other things… Two weeks ago I gave birth to a beautiful baby daughter, so blogging has had to take a back seat for a few days whilst I take care of her and we try to get into a routine. I was also struck down by a kidney infection which was the last thing I needed, but luckily I’m feeling much better now and we’re starting to get into some kind of a routine. A few days before I gave birth I was sent this Roll-On Body Oil* from Yogandha and it couldn’t have come at a better time! Available in three scents I chose the Balance variety to help balance and normalise my hormones after having a baby – the other two fragrances are stress relieving Ground and uplifting Salute. All of Yogandha’s wellness oils are 100% natural, vegan and...

Broadway Nails – imPRESS Press-On Manicure

Broadway Nails – imPRESS Press-On Manicure

My experiences with false nails in the past have not been good ones – I hate the state they leave my nails in after you’ve pulled them off, the glue is just too strong and harsh on the nails in my opinion. So when I was asked to try an imPRESS Press-On Manicure* from Broadway Nails I wasn’t too sure what to expect. imPRESS is a new range of false nails, created to look like a gel manicure and quick and easy to apply using the sticky tabs that are already on the back of each nail. There’s no nail glue required and you don’t need to cure them or wait for polish to dry – just apply them and you’re ready to go. Sound too good to be true? I was sent two pairs of imPRESS Press-On Manicure nails to try – the mottled blue nail art effect ones are called ‘Dancing Queen’ and the crimson ones are called ‘Call My Agent’. I decided to try out Call...

The Body Shop – Brush On Sunlight

The Body Shop – Brush On Sunlight

I just love these little shimmery highlighter beads from The Body Shop! I used to have the bronzing equivalent back when The Body Shop make-up was called ‘Colourings’ and I used them every day, there’s just something quite luxurious about using a highlighter or bronzer powder in pearl format. Brush On Sunlight* from The Body Shop is a highlighter described as an ‘apricot bronze’ shade. I’m not sure I agree, I can’t see much bronze in there, but there is lots of apricot and pale peach iridescent shimmer and it’s perfect for those with pale skin. The pot contains three different shades of powder pearls – apricot, rose gold and peachy-pink. This product is best used as a highlighter, applied with a very soft brush (I use the Bobbi Brown Blender Brush) – just lightly sweep the brush over the pearls to pick up the colour then sweep it over the parts of your face where you want a gentle iridescent shimmer. I have been applying it over my...

Cruelty Free Beauty

Cruelty Free Beauty

Back in the 1980s there were very few well-known cosmetic brands that didn’t test their products or ingredients on animals in some way. Fast forward to the 2000s and things had come a long way… awareness about cruelty free cosmetic was high, many high street brands had become cruelty free, many other brands professed to be cruelty free (even if sometimes their parent companies did still test ingredients on animals) and lots of small independent brands had sprung up offering natural, organic and cruelty free products. On 11th March 2013 a European Union (EU) ban on animal testing for cosmetics products and ingredients came into force. This means that companies are not able to animal test new cosmetic products and ingredients that will be on sale in the EU, however they can still sell products in the EU that have been tested on animals in the past. Companies can also still animal test cosmetics that are sold outside the EU (and the animal testing must be done outside the...

Ted Baker – Sweet On You Nail Duo

Ted Baker – Sweet On You Nail Duo

This Sweet On You Nail Duo from Ted Baker was a birthday gift from a good friend way back in March. The two nail polishes come packaged in a cute little box designed to look like an old fashioned sweet shop. The first polish is called Sweet On You and it’s a lovely peachy pink colour which looks really glossy when used on its own – take a look at the top photo, you can see how shiny it is and I haven’t even used a top coat. It only needs a couple of coats for a good coverage and applies really easily although the brush is very thin and the lid is quite big so it’s a bit tricky to apply it carefully and needs patience. The second polish is called Champagne Sundays and it’s a dusky rose coloured glitter suspended in a clear polish. There are two sizes of glitter – large hexagons and tiny flecks – both the same colour. You can either use Champagne Sundays...

Urban Decay – 24/7 Glide-On Eye Pencil in Covet

Urban Decay – 24/7 Glide-On Eye Pencil in Covet

I am a massive fan of Urban Decay cosmetics, they have funky packaging, great palettes and I love the use of sparkle, glimmer and glitter within their products. Plus Urban Decay is a member of Cruelty Free International, meaning that they have acquired the ‘Leaping Bunny’ stamp and their products are not tested on animals. 24/7 Glide-On Eye Pencils come in such a wide range of bright colours, and they can also sometimes be purchased in limited edition colour-coordinated mini collections. This review is just looking at the shade called Covet (more recently re-named Junkie), a brilliant emerald green colour with a lovely shimmer. If you want to find out more about the other colours available then check out my other review of these amazing eye pencils. I really love the green colour and I think it goes well with my blue eyes. 24/7 Glide-On Eye Pencils all have a lovely velvety soft texture meaning they are really easy to apply, plus they are waterproof and really long lasting,...

The amazing eye pencil you NEED in your life!

The amazing eye pencil you NEED in your life!

One of my absolute favourite Urban Decay products (and possibly one of my favourite ever make-up products of all time!) is 24/7 Glide-On Eye Pencils. 24/7 Glide-On Eye Pencils come in over 40 different shades and I love that so many of them are really bright. There really is a colour to suit everyone, whether you prefer something understated or you love to experiment with a rainbow of shades. This is only a small selection of the shades that are available and I’ve tried quite a few of them over the past few years. Just look at the turquoise (Deep End), blue (Chaos) and Purple (Asphyxia), they’re simply stunning! The pencils have a lovely soft...
