Chanel – Precision Lip Definer in Natural

Chanel – Precision Lip Definer in Natural

I love a good lip liner pencil but I think they’re getting a bit overlooked these days in favour of other more trendy make-up products such as brow pencils. When it comes to lip pencils I think there are some great ones out there and there’s something to suit every budget. I’ve always had a bit of a thing for Chanel lip pencils, they last for ages and they have a cute little lip brush on the other end. My latest purchase is Chanel Precision Lip Definer pencil in the shade 34 Natural. It’s a nude brown shade, not too pale and not too dark. Nude lips have been such a thing for ages now and they work so well when you’re wearing a look where the focus is on the eyes. This pencil works with both pinky-toned and browny-toned lipsticks, my favourite at the moment is Japanese Maple from Mac that I reviewed last year. You can see from the swatch image above that Natural does have pinky...

Bourjois – Cream Blush in Nude Velvet

Bourjois – Cream Blush in Nude Velvet

I’ve had this Cream Blush from Bourjois in my list of products to review for absolutely ages, but just never got round to it. I think it’s because I tend to shy away from cream products, preferring powder options as I find them easier to apply. Anyway, I thought it was about time I bit the bullet and got my review written up… The Cream Blush comes in one of Bourjois’ iconic ‘Little Round Pots’ which are instantly distinguishable. There’s a mirror inside the lid too which is small but does the job. Bourjois Cream Blush is available in six shades, I’ve been testing out Nude Velvet (shade 01) which is a peachy shade perfect for paler skintones. The texture of the Cream Blush is a cream-to-powder formula, it feels creamy in the pot but once you apply it to your skin it feels much drier, almost like a powder consistency. I quite like this as I don’t like applying anything too wet over the top of my foundation and powder....

Collection – Volume Sensation Lipstick in Satin Bow

Collection – Volume Sensation Lipstick in Satin Bow

Whilst I was doing the weekly shop in Tesco a couple of weeks ago I picked up this Volume Sensation Lipstick from budget make-up experts Collection (formerly Collection 2000). The Volume Sensation range contains plumping ingredients which are supposed to make your lips look fuller. First, let me start with the packaging. I’m not actually too keen on the reddy-pink tube as I think it looks a bit cheap, but it certainly does look different to all of the other budget lipsticks that are out there, most of which have black tubes. The tube is quite thick and chunky and doesn’t feel flimsy at all, it’s good and strong and the twist function works well. I was looking for something creamy and nude so I went for the Satin Bow shade. It’s a peachy nude shade, with a warm tone – perfect for Spring. It’s quite sheer and it has the most amazing taste and scent of vanilla. The texture feels creamy on the lips, it feels much more...

I ♡ Makeup – Lipstick in Rising Pulse

I ♡ Makeup – Lipstick in Rising Pulse

If you’ve not heard of I ♡ Makeup before it’s the little sister of budget brand Makeup Revolution, and it’s just as reasonably priced. Before I started blogging I had a dim view of budget make-up brands and thought that you got what you paid for (you certainly used to) but in recent years a number of great quality budget make-up brands have taken the beauty industry by storm. This is I ♡ My Lips Lipstick in Rising Pulse, and the reason I was drawn to it is because the lipstick is in the shape of a heart! (I’m very easily pleased!). I thought it was a great novelty, but wasn’t sure whether the heart-shape would make the lipstick difficult to apply. Rising Pulse is a pale nude shade, it has a creamy texture but looks quite matt on the lips. The vanilla flavour is pleasant, and doesn’t taste/smell artificial like some lipsticks do. In the image above you can clearly see the heart shaped lipstick. I don’t find that it’s difficult to...

NYC – Expert Last Lip Color in Creamy Caramel

NYC – Expert Last Lip Color in Creamy Caramel

I have to admit I’m not too clued up on budget make-up brand NYC. You can pick up their products in most Superdrug stores for a few pounds, and last year I reviewed their Appleicious Glossy Lip Balms which I really liked. I have to admit I’m a bit put off by NYC’s packaging, I think it looks quite cheap and there are other budget beauty brands who do packaging much better. I love nude and brown lipsticks (almost as much as I love pink lipsticks!) and this one is NYC’s offering – Expert Last Lip Color in Creamy Caramel. There are around 15 different shades of Expert Last Lip Color available, and at just £1.99 each you really can’t afford not to try one! Creamy Caramel is a nutty brown shade, with a creamy texture. It’s quite a pigmented shade but it’s definitely not matt as it has a subtle sheen to it. It has a lovely creamy soft luxurious feeling when it is on the lips and...

Blue Sparkle & Nude Nails

Blue Sparkle & Nude Nails

I created this Blue Sparkle & Nude nail look using one of my favourite nail polishes and a brand new one. Barry M’s Gelly Nail Paint in Lychee is a nail polish that I love and I use it over and over again, both on it’s own which looks really classy or incorporated in nail art and I have used it here as the nude base underneath the blue sparkly tips. The glittery blue polish is part of the Essence Effect Nail Polish* range and it’s called ‘Party In A Bottle’ which I think is a fun name. If you’ve not heard of Essence before this is because they’ve only recently launched in the UK, you might want to have a read of my post about the UK launch of Essence make-up to find out more. First I painted 2 coats of the Barry M Gelly Nail Paint in Lychee over my nails and left to dry. It works really well as a base colour underneath glitters and nail art as...

Beautiful Movements – Lip Gloss in Nude

Beautiful Movements – Lip Gloss in Nude

I’m already a big fan of natural make-up brand Beautiful Movements, so when I received this Nude Mineral Lip Gloss in my December Glossybox I was over the moon! Beautiful Movements used to be known as BM Beauty and one of their co-founders is stunning ex-Pussycat Doll Kimberley Wyatt. Beautiful Movements are a natural cosmetic brand and their products are free from parabens, animal products, synthetic dyes & fragrances, neither are they tested on animals. Kimberley explains in the December Glossybox magazine that this is her favourite lip gloss, the Nude colour can be worn with any make-up look and suits all skin types… and she isn’t wrong! You can see from the swatch image above that this Nude Mineral Lip Gloss from Beautiful Movements is an orangey-based neutral coloured gloss. It is fairly glossy, but not too shiny that it looks unnatural on your lips. I have been wearing it on its own, but it would also be really useful to add a bit of gloss over the...

Clarins – Instant Light Natural Lip Perfectors

Clarins – Instant Light Natural Lip Perfectors

Yes, it’s another Clarins review for you today. I know I have reviewed quite a few Clarins products lately but they’ve got so many great make-up products and they’re such good quality, and these Instant Light Natural Lip Perfectors* are perfect for the party season (they’d make lovely stocking fillers for friends too). Instant Light Natural Lip Perfectors come packaged in Clarins’ signature red boxes. They are a softly textured lip gloss with a lovely vanilla fragrance, and make lips look naturally soft, shiny and plump. The colours are sheer and can be worn alone or to give a bit of shine to another lip shade. I have been testing out 2 shades – Nude Shimmer and Rosewood Shimmer. Nude Shimmer is a pale creamy beige colour, and Rosewood Shimmer is a slightly darker brown colour, but both are extremely sheer and look much darker when you squeeze them out of the nozzle than when they have been applied on the lips. You can see from the swatch image...
