GIVEAWAY – Look Fantastic 1st Birthday Beauty Box

GIVEAWAY – Look Fantastic 1st Birthday Beauty Box

THE GIVEAWAY HAS NOW ENDED. Wow, look at the contents of this Look Fantastic 1st Birthday Beauty Box*! Look Fantastic is one of the leading online British beauty retailers and they produce a monthly beauty box full of goodies. I was lucky enough to receive one of their September 1st Birthday boxes full of amazing skincare and haircare products worth £55. Read on to discover what was inside, and find out how you could WIN your very own 1st Birthday Beauty Box as I have one to give away… The Beauty Box is a thing of beauty, it’s a white cardboard box with bright sparkly hundreds and thousands printed onto it and lined with blue tissue paper. It contains 8 (yes, 8!) products, which is at least 2 or 3 more than most beauty boxes that are available at the moment. This month they were a selection of skincare and haircare products from leading brands. I would have maybe liked to see a make-up item or two to mix...

Blogger Beauty Box – September 2015

Blogger Beauty Box – September 2015

The Blogger Beauty Box was set up in June 2015 when blogger Vix Meldrew decided to bring together a way of connecting beauty bloggers with brands by way of a monthly product box. Available to bloggers throughout the UK the box offers a range of skincare and make-up products and showcases brands both popular and little known. I like the fact that there is no subscription needed to take part, unlike most other beauty box schemes, and neither is there a ‘theme’ each month which I think can hold some box schemes back sometimes. September 2015 was my first Blogger Beauty Box, and here’s a sneak peek to see what was inside: My first impression was that there was a good ratio of skincare to make-up products, and whilst the box itself is a rather simple plain white cardboard affair with a sticky label on top I wasn’t made to feel like I’d just shelled out hard earned cash on a pretty cardboard box. I was also really pleased...

Rimmel London – 60 Seconds Nail Polish Lucky Lilac

Rimmel London – 60 Seconds Nail Polish Lucky Lilac

Lucky Lilac (670) is part of Rimmel’s 60 Seconds fast-drying nail polish collection, it’s a bright pinky-fuchsia shade that’s perfect for Summer. It looks quite glossy when it’s first dried but after a day or two it starts to look a bit duller, although you could add a coat or two of clear top coat for a glossy finish. I really like this bright shade, although I do think purple nails could be considered a bit old-fashioned these days now there are so many other unusual colours available. The nail polish brush is nice and wide, a bit like you get with an Essie polish, so you can quickly apply the colour to each nail with only 2 or 3 strokes. It lives up to its 60 Seconds name too and dries fairly quickly, I applied two coats of Lucky Lilac just before I got in the car and after driving for about five minutes it had completely dried. The colour is quite opaque, 2 coats is adequate to completely cover each nail,...

Organise your life with Busy B stationery

Organise your life with Busy B stationery

I’ve got something a bit different for you today… being a beauty blogger it’s really important that I keep organised, and I find it really important to be organised in other areas of my life too – running a home, being self employed, keeping up with friends, etc. This selection of stationery from Busy B has been designed to help make life simpler, and I’ve been using these items to help plan my blog posts. I have to admit I’m also a complete sucker for stationery, I have rather a collection of notebooks that are all too cute to write in, a collection of animal erasers and anything kawaii always takes my fancy too. The first Busy B product was created in 1997 from a cereal packet and a pair of nail scissors by a busy mum of three, and the products now line the shelves of John Lewis, Lakeland and Hobbycraft thanks to the nifty designs. As well as the usual notebooks and post it notes there are also baby...

Glossybox – December 2013

Glossybox – December 2013

December’s Glossybox came in a beautiful Christmas-themed red box (I will be re-using this for make-up storage) and the theme of the box was ‘Festive Treasures’. I have voiced my opinions before about Glossybox’s monthly themes, I think they let the whole thing down a bit as I often find that the products don’t really fit in with the theme very well, and this month was no exception. For Christmas time I would have liked to see more sparkle and glitz with jewel-like colours, and something really luxurious and pampering. When I opened my box there was a problem with the Seche Nail Lacquer inside so I had to contact Glossybox customer service to arrange for a replacement to be sent out. I have read bad reviews about the way that Glossybox deal with problems, however I have to say that the service I received was first class, and I must say a big thank you to Kayleigh for arranging to send out a replacement so quickly. Apologies for...

Glossybox – November 2013

Glossybox – November 2013

The theme of this month’s Glossybox is ‘The Glossy Wishlist’, I think the idea is that these are products you might want to add to your Christmas list (although if you’ve just received them in your Glossybox then there’s no need!). There are four full-sized products this month which is great, although in my opinion the choices aren’t particularly luxurious, and another Glossybox magazine too… So, now onto the products…. The first product is a full-sized Cocoa & Pistachio Nut Hand Cream from Yves Rocher. I tried this out as soon as I opened my Glossybox and it has a lovely rich, creamy scent perfect for Winter. It’s pretty much a budget product though and is priced at £1.95 for a 75ml tube. The next product is a full-sized tube of Dry Skin Exfoliator from footcare specialists Scholl. I’m not generally into footcare products and this certainly isn’t the luxurious sort of beauty product I would be adding to my Christmas list! I would have perhaps expected to see...

Glossybox – October 2013

Glossybox – October 2013

The theme of this month’s Glossybox is Dark Romance, with a focus on dark berry lips and illuminated skin, to help get recipients into the Halloween spirit. There’s a focus on skincare products this month which I am fairly pleased about, and another Glossybox magazine too which I enjoyed reading more than last month’s. So, now onto the products…. The first product is a small 20ml bottle of Illuminating Primer SPF 15 from natural skincare brand Monu. I received a moisturiser from Monu in one of the Glossyboxes over the Summer and I was really pleased with it, plus I love the fact that this primer contains sun protection SPF, so I am hoping that this product will be a good one. It can be used on its own for a flawless illuminating finish to skin, or as a base for make-up. A full size 50ml tube of Illuminating Primer SPF 15 from Monu is priced at £22. The next product is a small 20ml bottle of Moisturising Smoothie...
