KOREAN BEAUTY It’s not for dogs…

KOREAN BEAUTY It’s not for dogs…

“Is it for dogs?” was my husband’s first question when I showed him this Homme Terrior* All In One product from Korea! Obviously the name shows more than a slight resemblance to a type of dog here in the UK, but it’s definitely a product for men! I am currently taking part in an initiative working with BNT News International, a global beauty/fashion/lifestyle and entertainment source based in Seoul, South Korea. I am helping BNT to promote a selection of new and exciting Korean beauty products to a UK audience, these are products that you probably won’t have seen before and some of them are really different and unique. You may have already seen some of my previous Korean beauty reviews, such as this post about 3CE Long Wear Eye Crayon. This Homme Terrior All In One reminds me a bit of an aftershave from the 1970s with its strong black bottle and golden lion on the lid. I was actually a bit surprised when I received it from...

Roger & Gallet – Precious Revitalizing Balm

Roger & Gallet – Precious Revitalizing Balm

Roger & Gallet are really good at taking one of their fragrances and then developing lots of bodycare products around it. They’ve recently released a new collection of moisturising body balms in three of their bestselling fragrances – Fleur d’Osmanthus, Fleur de Figuier and Rose. This trio of balms has been created to nourish and cocoon the skin in comfort whilst adding a gentle scent. I was sent the Precious Revitalizing Balm in the Fleur d’Osmanthus* to try out. Roger & Gallet suggest that the Fleur d’Osmanthus fragrance ‘transports you into a Chinese Garden of Eden’, it’s made up of the scent of the Osmanthus flower plus mandarin, grapefruit and benzoin essential oils. It’s quite a floral bouquet with a note of white tea. Personally it’s not my favourite of Roger & Gallet’s scents, it’s a bit too floral and Summery for me. My first observation was that the fragrance is quite strong with this body balm so it’s perfect for layering with the other products in this collection – including the Sorbet...

Temple Spa – Double Truffle

Temple Spa – Double Truffle

With Valentines Day just around the corner Temple Spa are having a ‘loved up month’ and have launched this exclusive product for one month only! This special pot contains two of Temple Spa’s bestselling moisturisers – Skin Truffle and Truffle Noir – and it’s called Double Truffle. UPDATE – this product is no longer available in the double pot, but both Skin Truffle and Truffle Noir are available separately, so read on to find out more about them!! In the image above the silver grey cream on the left is Truffle Noir and the beige cream on the right is Skin Truffle. Skin Truffle is an award-winning moisturiser with some seriously impressive ingredients – including diamond powder, silk, grape seed champagne and black truffle! The cream aims to revive dull and tired skin, prevent ageing and regulate moisture levels whilst adding radiance. I’ve only been using it for a few days but I’ve definitely noticed the radiance which occurs as soon as I apply it to my skin, it makes my...

Embryolisse – Lait-Creme Concentre

Embryolisse – Lait-Creme Concentre

So who doesn’t love a multi-tasking beauty product? I certainly do and Lait-Creme Concentre from Embryolisse is one of those products with multiple uses. Actually it’s a bit of a cult product with a celebrity following – Emma Willis, Ariana Grande and Scarlett Johansen are all said to use this multi-tasking moisturising cream, and one is sold every 60 seconds! Unfortunately the ingredients include Paraffinum Liquidum which is sometimes known as Mineral Oil, and is a by-product of paraffin production present in a lot of moisturising products. I try to avoid this ingredient where I can and I’d love to see Embryolisse replace this with a more natural oil ingredient. Lait-Creme Concentre is a white cream and it has a traditional scent that reminds me of old-fashioned cold cream. The tube is metallic and you have to pierce the foil seal with the spike inside the end of the lid, the same as you do with Savlon and other medicated creams and gels. I quite like this touch, it...

Olay – 2 in 1 Hydration Moisturisers

Olay – 2 in 1 Hydration Moisturisers

Olay is a well-trusted brand that seems to have been around forever… back in the day it was known as Oil Of Ulay – anyone else remember that? So I’m embarrassed to admit that these are the first of their products that I’ve actually ever tried! I think Olay used to have a bit of an old-fashioned reputation, the sort of skincare that your auntie might use… but not any more, over the past decade they’ve stepped up their game and offer products for every age group. I’ve been trying out two of their new 2 in 1 Hydration moisturisers, promising 24 hour hydration, that are currently exclusive to Superdrug. Olay 2 in 1 Hydration & Flawless Blur* – this 2 in 1 moisturising cream not only hydrates the skin but also contains light-diffusing particles that aim to smooth the look of fine lines and make skin look smoother. It also provides a smooth base for effective make-up application, reducing the need for a primer. The cream itself is...

Natural skincare from MooGoo

Natural skincare from MooGoo

MooGoo is a brand that I first came across at The City Girls blogger event a couple of weeks ago in Leeds. MooGoo is an Australian natural skincare brand that was first made when the founder adapted a cream used in dairy farms to help a family member with a skin problem. Their products contain lots of natural oils and are not tested on animals – well, apart from the very first of their products that was created for cows! I was lucky enough to receive this Full Cream Moisturiser, Milk Wash sample and Dusty Girls Natural Mineral Lip Gloss in my goodie bag at the event and I’ve been testing them out… MooGoo Full Cream Moisturiser – what can I say, I love this product! Whilst the packaging looks a bit gimmicky with the cows on it, and the cardboard box has been designed to look like a milk carton, the contents are really great. Containing Sweet Almond Oil, Coconut Oil and Milk Protein which helps to increase...

Living Nature – Sensitive Day Moisture

Living Nature – Sensitive Day Moisture

It’s been a while since I did a post about natural skincare, but it’s something that I’m really passionate about as I think it’s important we know exactly what ingredients we are putting onto our skin. If you’ve not heard of Living Nature before it was launched in 1987 in New Zealand. Their products contain no synthetics, use only 100% natural ingredients, preservatives and fragrances and are never tested on animals. Their full range of cosmetics and skincare is Certified Natural by BDIH Germany, and their policy is ‘if there is any doubt about the safety of an ingredient, we don’t use it’. I love their philosophy! They also harness a lot of New Zealand’s native botanicals like Manuka Oil, Hallo Clay and Kelp and use these within their products. I’ve been using new Sensitive Day Moisture cream for almost two weeks now, part of Living Nature’s new Sensitive range. It’s a perfectly pH balanced, gentle daytime moisturiser that contains Organic Virgin Coconut Oil, Harakeke Flax Extract and Avocado Oil. The Harakeke...

Flint Plus Flint – Skincare Range

Flint Plus Flint – Skincare Range

I was sent this selection of products, it’s the Flint Plus Flint (or Flint+Flint) new range of skincare. You may not have heard of Flint+Flint, they’re a UK-based family run business – founders Max and Adam have run a chain of cosmetic clinics across England for some time, and after recommending skincare products to their clients for the past 10 years decided to create their own. I really like the sleek, grey unisex packaging with the bright coloured crosses, the products look very different from anything else you’d see on the shelf. Once you open a box too, the corresponding colour greets you inside… So I was sent a selection of 4 Flint+Flint skincare products to try out, and here’s what I thought of them: Glycolic Cleanser* – this is a glycolic wash that uses 12% glycolic acid to gently exfoliate the skin and remove dead cells. You apply the gel to your face then leave for 2 minutes before rinsing off. The product is a clear gel with a...
