I’m changing my toothpaste to JASON Powersmile

I’m changing my toothpaste to JASON Powersmile

As regular readers of Beauty Best Friend will know I’m a big fan of natural beauty products, but I’ve never actually tried a natural toothpaste. When you think about it it’s really important that we know what ingredients are in our toothpastes as they go in our mouths and therefore a small percentage will end up in our stomachs – imagine just how much toothpaste you actually swallow throughout your whole lifetime! I was sent this Powersmile Toothpaste* from natural care brand JASON to try out. The word ‘jason’ means ‘healer’ in Greek and the brand only selects wholesome natural ingredients for its products. Their range is free from parabens, mineral oils and sodium laureth sulfates, plus the toothpaste is fluoride-free too. Did you know that ingesting fluoride has been linked to neurological disorders and IQ deficiencies in children? And yet it is in our toothpastes and added to our drinking water! Many believe that the benefits of fluoride far outweigh the dangers, but if you want to try and...

Jason – Apricot Scrubble Face Scrub

Jason – Apricot Scrubble Face Scrub

Brightening Apricot Scrubble face scrub is the last of the Jason skincare products that I have been trying over the past couple of weeks and it gets a bit of a mixed reaction from me. The face scrub is a pale beige colour and it has a lovely gentle Summery apricot scent. The grains of ‘triple refined Walnut Powder’ are very large compared with the grains in most of the other face exfoliators that I have tried and feel rather harsh and scratchy on the skin. It does leave my skin feeling lovely and soft after use, but then a couple of hours later I get an oily breakout which I can only think must be caused by over-stimulation from the harsh walnut grains. Although my experiences of using Jason Apricot Scrubble have been mixed I am continuing to use it once a week as it does leave my skin feeling smooth, but I definitely wouldn’t use it any more often due to the harshness of the grains. It would probably...

Jason – Rosewater Hand & Body Lotion

Jason – Rosewater Hand & Body Lotion

Today’s review is Jason Invigorating Rosewater Pure Natural Hand & Body Lotion (a bit of a mouthful), thankfully I have got on better with this than I did with the Jason Pure Natural Deodorant Stick that I reviewed last week. Firstly I’m not too keen on the packaging, it looks a bit old fashioned, although it does say on their website that Jason do use all recyclable/recycled bio-degradable packaging which is great. I do think that a lot of natural beauty brands scrimp on their packaging and it would be great to see something that rivals the sleek packaging of the premium beauty brands. I have been applying this Rosewater Hand & Body Lotion daily to my skin after a shower. The white lotion rubs in to the skin nicely and brings out the tan really nicely on my arms (guess who was sat in the sun last weekend!). It has a pleasant scent although personally I’m not a big fan of rose (it reminds me of old ladies’ pot pourri) but the fragrance does...

Jason – Pure Natural Deodorant Stick

Jason – Pure Natural Deodorant Stick

For a while now I have been reading about the benefits of all-natural beauty products (or rather the pitfalls and risks of the chemical nasties that are in our everyday skincare products) and my aim is to gradually replace my regular skincare with products that contain natural ingredients. So when I came across Jason Natural I decided to try out some of their products, the first is this ‘Naturally Fresh’ unscented Pure Natural Deodorant Stick (other fragrances are available). Firstly I just want to say how much I WANTED this to be great. In my mind I would try it for a few days, it would be just as effective as my regular Dove deodorant stick, and so I would throw away my old deodorant and use this natural replacement forever….. simples! Unfortunately it wasn’t that simple(s). The Jason deodorant looks great at first glance – it is a wind-up stick type, the packaging and labelling are nice and clear, and it has a very feint fragrance which can...
