Is this the best budget highlighter ever?

Is this the best budget highlighter ever?

Highlighters have been my favourite product of 2016, and if there’s one product that I’ve wanted to try over all the rest it’s Vivid Baked Highlighter from Makeup Revolution. Makeup Revolution is the budget beauty brand that really made a splash when it was introduced a couple of years ago, and I’ve read so many amazing reviews of their pressed powder highlighter that costs just £3 that I couldn’t resist trying it. This is a real beauty bloggers favourite product, I haven’t met anyone that hasn’t liked it! There are 4 shades in the Vivid Baked Highlighter range, I opted for Golden Lights. It’s a multi-use baked highlighting powder in white lustre with a golden shimmer. Of course you can use it to light up the cheekbones, but it’s also great for using as an eyeshadow (just smudge a tad under the brow arch using the ring finger), highlighting collarbones or shoulders in Summer, dusting over the décolleté area or using sparingly for contouring to highlight temples, cheekbones, the tip...

Nip + Fab – Shimmer Leg Fix

Nip + Fab – Shimmer Leg Fix

Where did our lovely sunny weather go? I’ve really missed it this past week, I needed it to try out this Shimmer Leg Fix* from Nip + Fab! I’ve never tried anything like this before, it’s like a cross between make-up for the legs and a temporary fake tan. The product itself is a slightly translucent pale golden gel with millions of tiny golden particles that shimmer when they catch the light. It has a pretty floral rose fragrance too, not overpowering, which makes it really pleasant to apply. You apply Shimmer Leg Fix to the legs (funnily enough) to give them a gentle golden glow, just apply a little to the hands then gently massage into the legs and feet. You don’t need to use a tanning mitt as it will just wash straight off the hands really easily. The effect is only really subtle, and rather difficult to catch on camera! I’ve swatched a little on my arm in the image above and haven’t rubbed it...

Barry M – Textured Glitter Nail Paint in Majesty

Barry M – Textured Glitter Nail Paint in Majesty

I absolutely adore a good glitter nail polish, and I rate them on how dense the glitter is. Some glittery polishes look amazing in the bottle, but then when you paint them onto the nails they look sad and washed out, and you need at least 4 coats to get a good glittery coverage… not so with this Textured Glitter Nail Paint in Majesty from nail polish gurus Barry M! I think this gold glitter polish has possibly the densest ‘glitter to polish’ ratio I have ever experienced, after just one coat the nail is covered with glitter and it’s so sparkly. I’m in love! In the photo above I have only applied 2 coats and you can see that the nails are completely covered in golden glittery loveliness! Majesty is part of Barry M’s Royal Textured Glitter Collection, there are 5 colours available in total. The golden glitter particles are very small and densely packed into the clear matt varnish, and the polish gives a rough textured feel...

Clarins – Ombre Minerale Eye Shadows

Clarins – Ombre Minerale Eye Shadows

I just had to get this review of Clarins Ombre Minerale Eye Shadows* in before Christmas, as these little jewels would make the perfect stocking filler gift. The cute palettes look like little bars of gold! Ombre Minerale Eye Shadows contain mineral pigments and have been developed to deliver a smooth, long-lasting, intense colour and they can be applied dry or wet for a more intense colour. The three shades I have been testing are Golden Rose, Platinum and Aubergine. Golden Rose – this is a beautiful pale rose colour, it’s quite matt but with a very subtle golden shimmer undertone. It’s a good base colour that looks good applied all over the eye area before adding darker colours, and it works well paired with grey shadows. Platinum – this dark grey shade looks quite sparkly in the palette but applies with only a subtle shimmer. However it is a lovely dark grey colour and looks great smudged into the eye socket or used wet as eyeliner. Aubergine –...
