The Body Shop – Shimmer Cube Palette in Green & Smudger Brush

The Body Shop – Shimmer Cube Palette in Green & Smudger Brush

A duo from The Body Shop for you today, it’s Shimmer Cube Palette in Green and the Smudger Brush. Shimmer Cube Palette in Green – I used to have one of these Shimmer Cubes in a browny/gold shade years ago and found that it was a bit crumbly, but The Body Shop have definitely improved the formula of these since then. Available in 7 shades, the Shimmer Cube Palette contains 4 little cube blocks of eyeshadow – each one in it’s own removable lidded perspex box so you can take them out of the palette, rearrange them, or take them out with you. Three of the green shades are iridescent and shimmery, perfect for highlighting the whole of the eye area or smudging into the crease of the eye socket. The darkest jade green shade has more of a matt finish which makes it great for contouring the outer corner of the eye for a dark, smokey look. The shadows are pretty much crease resistant, just don’t apply too...

Somerset Toiletry Company – Website Relaunch

Somerset Toiletry Company – Website Relaunch

To celebrate the relaunch of their website Somerset Toiletry Company were kind enough to send me a trio of bodycare products to try out. Somerset Toiletry Company is the home of 5 brands – Gardener’s Therapy, Aromas Artesanales De Antigua, Greenscape, Tropical Fruits and Naturally European. Regular readers of Beauty Best Friend may remember that I have previously reviewed Greenscape Organic Cocoa Butter Foaming Hand Wash and a couple of the Naturally European Luxury Hand Wash range – Rose Petal and my favourite Ginger & Lime. The Naturally European, Gardener’s Therapy and Greenscape ranges are all completely free from SLS and Parabens and all use natural ingredients. My favourite of the three products is Naturally European Verbena Luxury Hand Cream*. This thick, rich white hand cream contains 20% shea butter and has a heavenly citrusy lemon scent – it really reminds me of L’Occitane Verbena Moisturising Hand Lotion, except this one is much richer (and cheaper!). As the Verbena Luxury Hand Cream is so rich you only need a...

Tanworx – Self Tanning Foam

Tanworx – Self Tanning Foam

I was recently asked to try out this new Tanworx Self Tanning Foam that has been developed by natural skincare specialists Monu Skincare. Monu is an ethical skincare brand, they are against animal testing and their products contain no synthetic perfumes or colours. You may have already read my review of Monu Hydrating Moisturiser SPF15. This product came at a perfect time for me as only a couple of weeks ago I was thinking that I was looking rather pale and could do with a nice tan… and hey presto Tanworx Self Tanning Foam popped through my letterbox! I am a big fan of fake tan as it’s so much better for our bodies than tanning via a sunbed, but it’s still really important to make sure you use a good quality product that doesn’t contain lots of nasty ingredients. Did you know that parabens are thought by some people to contribute to cancer? So this Tanworx product from Monu Skincare is perfect as it doesn’t contain these nasty...

RazorPit – Bump Foam

RazorPit – Bump Foam

I was recently offered the chance to try out Bump Foam* from shaving experts RazorPit. Bump Foam is different to other shaving foams and gels as it promises to prevent razor burn, bumps and ingrown hairs, plus it contains no perfumes, parabens or colourants. It is suitable for all parts of the body – face, legs, armpits and intimate areas (it refers to these as ‘private areas’ on the bottle!). The first thing I noticed about Bump Foam is that it is much more runny than regular shaving foam, almost like the creamy lather from soap, this means that it spreads onto the skin really easily. Bump Foam does have quite a clinical smell, probably due to it containing anti-bacterial properties that not only help to cleanse the skin but also keep your razor bacteria free. It’s not an unpleasant smell though. I was a bit cynical before actually shaving with it as to whether this thin foam would provide enough lubrication for the razor, but it does give...
