What’s my favourite ever fake tan?

What’s my favourite ever fake tan?

Just a quick review today, but I thought with this sunny weather it’s a perfect time to tell you about my favourite fake tan ever! So many of the fake tans available today need preparation with scrubbing, then buffing with a mitt before finally showering off – making fake tanning almost a full time job. So what if there were a quicker, easier way? Meet Ambre Solaire No Streaks Bronzer Self Tanning Body Mist from Garnier! I’ve been using this fake tan for years, it’s a body mist that you spray over your skin, it doesn’t need any buffing or rubbing as long as you spray it fairly evenly, which isn’t hard to do as the spray comes out quite finely. It sprays on to the skin clear, then develops in around 2-3 hours, and it has a nice apricot scent – there’s nothing of the usual biscuit-y scent you get with most fake tans. It also dries fairly quickly, I usually leave it around 15 minutes after applying...

St. Moriz – Instant Self Tanning Mist

St. Moriz – Instant Self Tanning Mist

I actually had a bit of a self tanning fail whilst using this St. Moriz Instant Self Tanning Mist, but through no fault of the product, just my own stupidity! I’m a big fan of spray-on fake tans, my favourite is Garnier Ambre Solaire No Streaks Bronzer (which I’ll be reviewing soon) as you don’t even need to rub it in – just spray, leave to dry a few minutes, then go. I like anything that is easy and quick and can’t always be bothered with all the scrubbing and buffing that is associated with fake tanning. So I assumed that this product would be a similar type of self tan spray, where you quickly spray the skin then let the tan develop…. however it’s not! It sprays a dark brown liquid onto your skin that then needs spreading and applying with a mitt like regular self tans… so after spraying it onto one leg I quickly had to sprint into the bathroom and find my fake tan mitt...

Get ‘Beach Body Ready’ with Temple Spa

Get ‘Beach Body Ready’ with Temple Spa

There’s been uproar in the press and on social media recently about the phrase ‘beach body ready’ and the pressure put on women to lose weight, tone up, and look good in a bikini. Everyone should be allowed to feel comfortable in swimwear no matter what their size or shape and there should be no pressure on women to conform to a certain body shape. Having said that, no one wants to step out onto the beach looking un-groomed and there are lots of bodycare tips and tricks that anyone can do to give them that little extra piece of confidence when stepping out in a bikini or swimming costume for the first time. I’ve been trying out a selection of bodycare products from Temple Spa that are perfect for Summer bodies and promise to make everyone look great on the beach (or just in your back garden!). Sugar Buff – the first product in my ‘get beach body ready’ regime is Sugar Buff, a Mediterranean body scrub that includes...

Cocoa Brown – Lovely Legs Spray & Tough Stuff

Cocoa Brown – Lovely Legs Spray & Tough Stuff

I was recently sent these Cocoa Brown by Marissa Carter tanning goodies to try out – the package included Lovely Legs Spray*, a sachet of Tough Stuff* scrub and a Self Tan Applicator Mitt*. Lovely Legs Spray is an instant wash-off tan, and I have to admit I’ve always been nervous about using wash-off tan products – I always have nightmares about getting stuck in a rain shower and ending up with tan streaked legs! However, this product is labelled as water-resistant so I was interested to see how well it held up. Lovely Legs Spray – as I’ve already mentioned Lovely Legs Spray is a spray-on instant wash-off tan ‘make-up’. It is marketed as being perfect for legs but I guess it could be used on any area of your body – I have also been using it on my arms – but just be careful to avoid any area that could be rubbed by clothing as it could come off. The best way to use it is...

Tesco Soleil – Bronzing Protection Sun Lotion & Tinted Bronzing Lotion

Tesco Soleil – Bronzing Protection Sun Lotion & Tinted Bronzing Lotion

Last Bank Holiday weekend here in York the weather was lovely and sunny, so it was a perfect time for me to review this Bronzing Protection Sun Lotion* and Tinted Bronzing Lotion* from the Tesco Soleil range. I do find that the Tesco own-brand suncare products are great value for money and it’s always really convenient to be able to pick up beauty and skincare products whilst you are doing your weekly grocery shop. Soleil Bronzing Protection Sun Lotion – this sun lotion is very similar to any other standard sun lotion but much better value than brands like Nivea, etc. It has a medium SPF protection of 15, which is generally around the coverage that I like to use (I have fair skin but it tans quite easily without burning). It is a medium consistency lotion with a feint coconutty scent and it sinks into the skin fairly quickly. I have to point out that this lotion really isn’t sticky at all, which is one of the things...

Tanworx – Tan Maintainer

Tanworx – Tan Maintainer

A couple of weeks ago I reviewed the new Tanworx Self Tanning Foam from Monu Skincare (you can read that review here) and they have since sent me their Tanworx Tan Maintainer* to try out. The aim of Tan Maintainer is to apply it to your skin a couple of days after applying the Self Tanning Foam, so that it helps to moisturise your skin and ensure that your tan is maintained for longer. The first thing that I noticed when using Tan Maintainer was its colour. It is a rather scary bright yellow colour, not what I was expecting! The ingredients include carrot oil (which fights against cellular damage caused by the sun), so perhaps this is why it is yellow? Other ingredients include Coconut Oil and Sunflower Oil to moisturise the skin, plus Hyaluronic Acid and Seaweed. It should only be used on the body and not the face as the tub states that it should not be used around the eye area. Tanworx Tan Maintainer is...

Tanworx – Self Tanning Foam

Tanworx – Self Tanning Foam

I was recently asked to try out this new Tanworx Self Tanning Foam that has been developed by natural skincare specialists Monu Skincare. Monu is an ethical skincare brand, they are against animal testing and their products contain no synthetic perfumes or colours. You may have already read my review of Monu Hydrating Moisturiser SPF15. This product came at a perfect time for me as only a couple of weeks ago I was thinking that I was looking rather pale and could do with a nice tan… and hey presto Tanworx Self Tanning Foam popped through my letterbox! I am a big fan of fake tan as it’s so much better for our bodies than tanning via a sunbed, but it’s still really important to make sure you use a good quality product that doesn’t contain lots of nasty ingredients. Did you know that parabens are thought by some people to contribute to cancer? So this Tanworx product from Monu Skincare is perfect as it doesn’t contain these nasty...

Claire’s – Synthetic Clip-On Hair Extensions

Claire’s – Synthetic Clip-On Hair Extensions

A few weeks ago I was thinking about doing something drastically different with my hair as I was getting fed up with my shoulder length blonde hair, wishing I had never had it cut shorter last April and just fancying a real change colourwise. After several minutes (or perhaps that should be hours….) checking out different styles and colours on Pinterest I came to the conclusion that pink is the way to go… pink is the future! Anyway, having had several home-colouring nightmares when I was a teenager I didn’t want to rush into doing something myself and decided that I would try out something temporary whilst I was waiting for my next hair appointment to come around. So I noticed these Synthetic Clip-On Hair Extensions in Claire’s and thought I would try them out, and I’m very glad I did! Synthetic Clip-On Hair Extensions come in a pack of two and they are really easy to use. I love the fact that you can put them in and...
