Chase the glitter rainbow with Moondust from Urban Decay

Chase the glitter rainbow with Moondust from Urban Decay

For a long time now I’ve been searching for a seriously glittery eyeshadow. Not just one that shimmers and shines, but one that actually glitters, containing tiny particles of glitter that give serious twinkle when they hit the light. I’ve experimented with actual cosmetic glitter like the fabulous budget range of cosmetic glitters from Stargazer. and had fantastic results using Urban Decay Heavy Metal Glitter Eyeliners but I had struggled to find an actual eyeshadow that fitted the bill….. that is until now! This is the stunning Moondust eyeshadow palette from Urban Decay. Urban Decay do palettes so well, and I’d lusted after this one as soon as it was released but sadly it was sold out for ages (as is usual with so many of Urban Decay’s new releases). I finally got my hands on it last month and the wait was worth it! Firstly can we just take a moment to take in the sheer beauty of the Moondust palette…….. The hard case with mirrored word ‘moondust’ on the lid...

Charlotte Tilbury – Luxury Palette and K.I.S.S.I.N.G. Lipstick

Charlotte Tilbury – Luxury Palette and K.I.S.S.I.N.G. Lipstick

So welcome to the next big thing in luxury make-up…. it’s Charlotte Tilbury! Products that have been designed to look as good in your handbag as they do on your face, you’ll never be ashamed to get these out in public for a quick make-up touch-up! I treated myself to this Luxury Palette and K.I.S.S.I.N.G. Lipstick with some money that I received for Christmas and I haven’t been disappointed. Read on to find out what I think… Luxury Palette in The Uptown Girl – in each Luxury Palette there are 4 co-ordinating eyeshadows that can take you from desk, through to dusk and on to the disco! There’s a short video on the Charlotte Tilbury website that shows how to apply the eyeshadows to create three different looks – a subtle one for daytime, a slightly smokier look for evening and then a full-on sparkle-fest for the nightclub. To be honest I’m a sucker for sparkle so I usually go for this last one no matter what time of day it...

Budget eye make-up from W7

Budget eye make-up from W7

I love discovering great budget make-up products and W7 is one of my favourite brands for this. A couple of months ago I reviewed a selection of their affordable lip products, and today I’m going to be telling you about some of their eye make-up… W7 Pearl Eyes pencils* – first up are these chunky eye pencils in Park Lane and Easy Does It. Park Lane is a dark chestnut brown and Easy Does It is a reddy bronze. Both shades have a pearlised shimmer to them and smudge nicely with a cotton bud. In the swatch image below, from left to right – Park Lane, Easy Does It. Park Lane is easily my favourite and has replaced my trusty black eyeliner for a while now. I just draw on a little at the outer corners of both my upper and lower lash lines then smudge with a cotton bud for a low key look. You could also use them all over the eyelid as a shadow, they’re long...

The Body Shop Christmas 2015 Collection

The Body Shop Christmas 2015 Collection

I love The Body Shop® at Christmas as they have such amazing products and this year is no exception. I was lucky enough to be sent a selection of new products to try out, and I can honestly say that I love each and every one! I really think that The Body Shop® has stepped up its game over the last few years, they now have some fantastic make-up and their Christmas fragrances are second to none – plus it’s so affordable! This is my first of a two-part review of The Body Shop® Christmas range, as I attended a special blogger evening at my local store in York on Friday evening – so keep an eye out for my second post later this week to find out what we got up to! Glazed Apple Shimmer Mist* – Shimmer Mist is a completely new product for Christmas 2015 and apparently it’s selling like hot cakes – so if you want one you’ll need to get in quick! Available in all three...

Blogger Beauty Box – October 2015

Blogger Beauty Box – October 2015

The Blogger Beauty Box was set up in June 2015 when blogger Vix Meldrew decided to bring together a way of connecting beauty bloggers with brands by way of a monthly product box. Available to bloggers throughout the UK the box offers a range of skincare and make-up products and showcases brands both popular and little known. I like the fact that there is no subscription needed to take part, unlike most other beauty box schemes, and neither is there a ‘theme’ each month which I think can hold some box schemes back sometimes. October 2015 was my second Blogger Beauty Box (you can read all about the September 2015 Blogger Beauty Box here) and here’s a sneak peek to see what was inside: My first impression was that this box was rather skincare heavy with only one make-up item and I would have liked to see another make-up product in there. The first skincare product, and my absolute favourite, is a small sample bottle of Organic Facial Cleansing Oil from...

MUA – Spring Break Eyeshadow Palette

MUA – Spring Break Eyeshadow Palette

A few months ago all the beauty blogs were full of reviews of MUA make-up, but following the launch of several other similar budget beauty brands they seem to have fallen off the radar a little bit. Stocked in most Superdrug stores MUA is a great affordable high-street brand and when I saw this Spring Break Eyeshadow Palette in the York store a couple of weeks back I was immediately drawn to its bright Spring pastel shades and I had to have it. The Spring Break palette contains 12 round eyeshadows in a range of nude pinks, browns and zingy pastels (most of which have a shimmery finish) and a small double ended sponge applicator. The shadows are named on the base of the palette, although the label is a bit blurred and it’s a bit difficult to read the names of some of the shades (no, it’s not just my dodgy photographer skills!). My overall opinion on this palette is that the shades look great in the palette, but when applying...

MeMeMe – Lip Glide in English Rose

MeMeMe – Lip Glide in English Rose

It’s only a couple of weeks ago that I reviewed a selection of eye and brow make-up from MeMeMe, today I bring you their new Lip Glide chubby pencil in English Rose*. Available in 5 different shades Lip Glide is a long lasting, ultra-high pigment lip pencil with a matte-velvet finish. English Rose is a pretty rose mid-pink shade, I really like it as it’s not too bright or sugary. The colour feels soft and smooth on the lips, it’s not as sheer and glossy as I usually like, but it certainly doesn’t make the lips feel dry or wrinkled like some matt lipsticks can do after a couple of hours. You can see from the swatch image above that the finish is quite matt, and it is very highly pigmented, but being quite a natural shade of pink it doesn’t look too bright when it’s on the lips. I really like this lip colour, and being in a chubby pencil format it’s much easier to apply than a...

Miners – Eye Make-Up Selection

Miners – Eye Make-Up Selection

A few weeks ago I was sent this eye make-up selection from budget make-up brand Miners, but given the excitement of Christmas and New Year it’s taken me a while to get around to reviewing them. When I think of the brand Miners it reminds me of the very first eyeshadow palette I had as a little girl (a cast-off from my Mum!), it was a pale blue duo and I used it when I was dressing up. I’d forgotten about the brand to be honest, as I’d not seen anything from them for years, but 2014 was the year I was to rediscover Miners and their new, modern cosmetics. This is Define & Line Liquid Eyeliner, the shade is called Blue but to be honest it’s very dark – more of a navy. The applicator is a hard wand which makes it quite easy to apply an even straight line along the lashes. The product is fairly liquid, I thought it was quite watery at first, but the colour is...
