Chase the glitter rainbow with Moondust from Urban Decay

Chase the glitter rainbow with Moondust from Urban Decay

For a long time now I’ve been searching for a seriously glittery eyeshadow. Not just one that shimmers and shines, but one that actually glitters, containing tiny particles of glitter that give serious twinkle when they hit the light. I’ve experimented with actual cosmetic glitter like the fabulous budget range of cosmetic glitters from Stargazer. and had fantastic results using Urban Decay Heavy Metal Glitter Eyeliners but I had struggled to find an actual eyeshadow that fitted the bill….. that is until now! This is the stunning Moondust eyeshadow palette from Urban Decay. Urban Decay do palettes so well, and I’d lusted after this one as soon as it was released but sadly it was sold out for ages (as is usual with so many of Urban Decay’s new releases). I finally got my hands on it last month and the wait was worth it! Firstly can we just take a moment to take in the sheer beauty of the Moondust palette…….. The hard case with mirrored word ‘moondust’ on the lid...

Budget eye make-up from W7

Budget eye make-up from W7

I love discovering great budget make-up products and W7 is one of my favourite brands for this. A couple of months ago I reviewed a selection of their affordable lip products, and today I’m going to be telling you about some of their eye make-up… W7 Pearl Eyes pencils* – first up are these chunky eye pencils in Park Lane and Easy Does It. Park Lane is a dark chestnut brown and Easy Does It is a reddy bronze. Both shades have a pearlised shimmer to them and smudge nicely with a cotton bud. In the swatch image below, from left to right – Park Lane, Easy Does It. Park Lane is easily my favourite and has replaced my trusty black eyeliner for a while now. I just draw on a little at the outer corners of both my upper and lower lash lines then smudge with a cotton bud for a low key look. You could also use them all over the eyelid as a shadow, they’re long...

KOREAN BEAUTY 3 Concept Eyes – Long Wear Eye Crayon

KOREAN BEAUTY 3 Concept Eyes – Long Wear Eye Crayon

I am currently taking part in an initiative working with BNT News International, a global beauty/fashion/lifestyle and entertainment source based in Seoul, South Korea. I am helping BNT to promote a selection of new and exciting Korean beauty products to a UK audience, these are products that you probably won’t have seen before and some of them are really different and unique. You might have already read some of my previous Korean beauty special reviews, like this one of Artclass by Rodin contouring powder compact from Too Cool For School. Today I am reviewing Long Wear Eye Crayon* from 3 Concept Eyes. The Long Wear Eye Crayon is available in 7 different shades, each of them is shimmery and lustrous. I have been using the shade called Fallen, it’s a dark bronze brown shade with a great shimmer. The eye colour applies straight from the crayon and you can either leave it as it is or blend it with a brush or cotton bud to give a more gentle...

L.A.B.2 – Strokes Of Genius Brush Kit

L.A.B.2 – Strokes Of Genius Brush Kit

If you’ve never heard of L.A.B.2 it stands for ‘Live And Breathe Beauty’, and their philosophy is to provide ‘Luxe For Less’ which I for one am all in favour of! The L.A.B.2 range of brushes encompasses FiberLuxe™ Technology, synthetic bristles specially designed with the softest and highest quality filaments that enable superior pigment pick-up and release for even colour distribution. I was sent this great little eye make-up brush kit to try out, I’ve been using the brushes for around two weeks now to create various eye looks. The Strokes Of Genius Brush Kit* contains five eye make-up brushes, here’s a brief description of each brush and what it’s for (from top to bottom): Eyeshadow Brush – distributes colour evenly all over the lids, crease and brow bone. Brow & Eyeliner Brush – fills in brows and lines eyes for extra definition. Pointed Eyeliner Brush –  delivers a precise, firm, even line for either upper or lower lashline. Crease Brush – accentuates the crease and blends colours seamlessly together...

New Autumn 2015 make-up from Clarins

New Autumn 2015 make-up from Clarins

I can’t believe we’re talking about Autumn already! This year is just flying by, before we know it it’ll be Christmas! Clarins have recently launched their new Autumn 2015 make-up range, a seductive collection focusing on the eyes. The new products allow you to easily transform from soft beige and fresh pink daytime shades to sultry evening looks with purples and carbon blacks. I’ve been lucky enough to try out three of their new products: Clarins Ombre Matte Eyeshadows* – these two eyeshadows have a unique cream-to-powder formula, so they apply smoothly like a cream but then have the hold of a powder. One of the ingredients is Bamboo Powder and this helps to give the shadows a matte and even finish. The shades are called Carbon and Heather – Carbon is a dark shade, almost black, and should be used sparingly or smudged to give a sultry look, whereas Heather is a smoky purple shade and can be used all over the eyelid or stippled into the crease of the eye. Unfortunately...

MUA – Spring Break Eyeshadow Palette

MUA – Spring Break Eyeshadow Palette

A few months ago all the beauty blogs were full of reviews of MUA make-up, but following the launch of several other similar budget beauty brands they seem to have fallen off the radar a little bit. Stocked in most Superdrug stores MUA is a great affordable high-street brand and when I saw this Spring Break Eyeshadow Palette in the York store a couple of weeks back I was immediately drawn to its bright Spring pastel shades and I had to have it. The Spring Break palette contains 12 round eyeshadows in a range of nude pinks, browns and zingy pastels (most of which have a shimmery finish) and a small double ended sponge applicator. The shadows are named on the base of the palette, although the label is a bit blurred and it’s a bit difficult to read the names of some of the shades (no, it’s not just my dodgy photographer skills!). My overall opinion on this palette is that the shades look great in the palette, but when applying...

MeMeMe – Lip Glide in English Rose

MeMeMe – Lip Glide in English Rose

It’s only a couple of weeks ago that I reviewed a selection of eye and brow make-up from MeMeMe, today I bring you their new Lip Glide chubby pencil in English Rose*. Available in 5 different shades Lip Glide is a long lasting, ultra-high pigment lip pencil with a matte-velvet finish. English Rose is a pretty rose mid-pink shade, I really like it as it’s not too bright or sugary. The colour feels soft and smooth on the lips, it’s not as sheer and glossy as I usually like, but it certainly doesn’t make the lips feel dry or wrinkled like some matt lipsticks can do after a couple of hours. You can see from the swatch image above that the finish is quite matt, and it is very highly pigmented, but being quite a natural shade of pink it doesn’t look too bright when it’s on the lips. I really like this lip colour, and being in a chubby pencil format it’s much easier to apply than a...

MeMeMe Cosmetics – Eye & Brow Make-Up

MeMeMe Cosmetics – Eye & Brow Make-Up

My experience of MeMeMe Cosmetics in the past had been a bit hit and miss… I really liked the Eye Inspire Mono Eyeshadow in Mirage that I reviewed in 2013, but I wasn’t keen on their Cherub’s Blush Cheek & Lip Tint and found it messy and difficult to use. But when I was awakened by the postman on my birthday in March, I was very happy to find that MeMeMe had sent me a selection of eye and brow make-up for my birthday! A very welcome treat indeed and totally unexpected. So, what did I think? Read on to find out, there were 3 products: MeMeMe Dark & Divine Mascara* – it’s very rare that I find a mascara that I love so I didn’t have very high hopes with this one, but I’m pleased to say that it’s really great. The brush is very thin with tiny plastic ‘bristles’ and it’s so easy to get it right down into the roots of the lashes, to coat the...
