Soft & Gentle bring out a new paraben free deodorant

Soft & Gentle bring out a new paraben free deodorant

You may have read some of the scary research recently that links parabens (a preservative ingredient found in loads of health and beauty products) with breast cancer, and whilst there is no evidence yet to prove that using parabens causes breast cancer more and more people are choosing to ditch parabens in favour of something more natural. I’m gradually trying to replace all of my old skincare and bodycare products with natural alternatives so that my body comes into contact with less parabens and other nasty chemicals. One of the types of products which seems to be very late to the natural table is deodorant, there isn’t a wide variety of paraben-free products available yet but I was really pleased to see that Soft & Gentle, a well-known household brand, had brought out this new 0% Aluminium Dry Deodorant. It’s free from parabens, allergens and aluminium and uses astringent plant extracts that shrink the sweat pores to reduce perspiration whilst natural herb sage acts as a deodoriser. Available in three...

Botanicals – Hydrating Mist With Rose & Camellia

Botanicals – Hydrating Mist With Rose & Camellia

Botanicals is one of my favourite skincare brands and I have previously reviewed a few of their products including Radiance Serum and Cleansing Melt. All of Botanicals’ skincare products are natural and organic, plus they aren’t tested on animals and are suitable for vegans. It quite often scares me when I read through the list of ingredients on many skincare products to see all the chemicals that are included and I imagine what these could be doing to my body (many of the chemicals included within regular products are preservatives, colourings and fragrances that don’t add any benefit to our skin). So I find it really refreshing and reassuring when I read the list of ingredients on a Botanicals product and I recognise so many of them as being natural. Hydrating Mist With Rose & Camellia is 100% organic and natural and is certified by The Soil Association. Its ingredients include Rose oil and Camellia Extract, and it’s suitable for all skin types but particularly dry or mature skins. Botanicals also...

Are your feet ready for Summer?

Are your feet ready for Summer?

Not a very glamorous review for you today, but a necessary one nonetheless! With only a few weeks to go until Summer, and the British weather already dishing up several days of sunshine, it’s time to start getting your feet ready for those Summer sandals. I was lucky enough to be sent this footcare kit by Premier Healthcare so that I could explain to my readers the steps to take to help get feet Summer-ready. Premier Healthcare supply healthcare products and medical aids online, so all these products are medically proved to have great results. First up is Gehwol Fußpuder* – translated as Foot Powder! It’s just like talcum powder but it’s been specially developed for use on the feet and it has ingredients that deodorise and help to prevent fungal infections. The powder is really fine and it has a nice light lemony scent. Just sprinkle a little onto the feet and between the toes after having a shower, or if your feet are feeling hot, and it...

La Roche-Posay – Anthelios XL Suncream

La Roche-Posay – Anthelios XL Suncream

Haven’t we been having the loveliest sunny weather recently here in the UK? I’ve loved waking up to sunshine, and it’s also given me a great opportunity to test out these 50+ SPF suncreams from La Roche-Posay. Designed for sensitive and sun intolerant skin these Anthelios XL products contain very high protection from both UVA and UVB rays (UVA rays are the ones that age our skin, and UVB rays are the ones that burn us). La Roche-Posay Anthelios XL Tinted Fluid* was the first of the two suncream products that I tried out. It’s really light, almost like a liquid so you have to be careful you don’t drip any when you’re applying it, plus it’s tinted a dark brown colour although the colour doesn’t look quite so dark once you’ve applied it. It feels a bit like a BB Cream (Beauty Balm Cream) once you’ve applied it to your face, although with it being so light in texture you would still need to apply a foundation product...

Vichy – Aqualia Thermal Power Serum

Vichy – Aqualia Thermal Power Serum

I’m quite partial to a serum, especially when it promises super hydration. I have combination skin, and my forehead and cheeks can get very dry particularly in cold weather, so I’m always on the lookout for something that will rehydrate my skin. This Aqualia Thermal Power Serum from Vichy contains three hydrating sugars which helps to hold water inside the skin for up to 48 hours, thus helping prevent dehydration. Skin is composed of 70% water and it’s the body’s barrier between you and the environment. Over the course of the day your skin can lose water, and dehydration can cause small wrinkles to appear and make skin start to look dull. I’ve been using Vichy Aqualia Thermal Power Serum for around 2 weeks now, applying it at night before I go to bed. It’s a white milky serum with a gentle floral scent and you only need one squirt to cover the whole face. You apply it before your regular moisturiser and it feels silky on your skin, it’s...

Batiste Dry Shampoo – Tropical

Batiste Dry Shampoo – Tropical

I’ve reviewed a few of the different ‘flavours’ of Batiste Dry Shampoo over the past couple of years, including the Light & Blonde variety. Dry Shampoo really is a lifesaver product and I’m never without a can on my dressing table – and I always go for Batiste as it’s the original, traditional dry shampoo. If you’ve never tried dry shampoo before it absorbs grease from the surface of your hair, helping to remove the shiny look of hair that could do with a wash, and it also adds texture and volume to freshly washed hair ideal if you want to create an up-do. In my opinion Batiste is the only brand of dry shampoo to buy, it’s been around forever and there’s a variety to suit everyone. I decided to choose the Tropical scented option last week when I purchased my latest can of Batiste Dry Shampoo. It’s described as ‘coconut & exotic’ and it certainly is that! It’s very highly perfumed with coconut and smells just like a desert island!...

Salcura – Face Wash & Face Hydrator

Salcura – Face Wash & Face Hydrator

I’ve reviewed, and loved, quite a few skincare and bodycare products from natural skincare brand Salcura now, you may have previously read my reviews of their Antiac products for acne-prone skin. Today I am reviewing their Face Wash* and Face Hydrator* for sensitive and dry skin. Salcura’s products are 100% natural and many of them contain sea buckthorn as one of their main ingredients, which helps to reduce inflammation and soothe skin, making them great for sensitive and problem skins. Salcura Face Wash is a bright orange lightly foaming cleanser with a gentle citrusy orange fragrance. It dispenses easily from the pump bottle and feels quite thick in your hands until you add a drop of water. It feels a bit like a cream cleanser when you apply it to your face as it’s so thick, but it does gently foam and rinses off easily. It feels really gentle on my skin and doesn’t leave it feeling tight like some soapy cleansers can do. I like to use a...

Batiste – Dry Shampoo in Cherry

Batiste – Dry Shampoo in Cherry

I’m a massive fan of the lifesaver product that is Batiste Dry Shampoo. I have already reviewed the ‘Clean and Classic Original’ variety and the Light & Blonde variant. Today I am reviewing the fruity and cheeky Cherry fragranced version. Batiste Dry Shampoo works by absorbing the oil on the surface of the hair, you just spray it sparingly over dry hair and then style as normal – only make sure you don’t apply too much as it can leave hair looking a bit ‘talcy’. The Cherry is the same as the original one except that it has the lovely fragrance of cherries – the fragrance is fairly strong when you first spray it, but it fades quickly leaving a gentle sweet scent in your hair. The only downside with Batiste Dry Shampoo is that the spray is rather violent and loud (and scares my cats!), I would prefer a more gentle spray like you get from a hairspray can. I love the retro design on the can and the logo. Batiste Dry...
