Burt’s Bees – Lip Balm with Blueberry & Dark Chocolate

Burt’s Bees – Lip Balm with Blueberry & Dark Chocolate

Burt’s Bees was one of the very first natural skincare brands that I fell in love with, and since then I’ve reviewed a few of their products including this Lip Shimmer in Guava. Their lip balms are my absolute favourite, they’re made with 100% natural ingredients such as beeswax and natural oils and don’t make my lips feel sticky. I was recently sent this Burt’s Bees Revitalizing Lip Balm with Blueberry & Dark Chocolate* to try out and I absolutely love it! The chocolatey fragrance really comes through and it actually makes me want to eat chocolate when I apply it (not sure if that’s a good thing or a bad thing!). I love to go walking and this lip balm really prevents my lips from chapping in this wet and windy weather that we’ve been having recently. Burt’s Bees Revitalizing Lip Balm with Blueberry & Dark Chocolate is the perfect low-calorie chocolatey treat and at just £3.99 each a Burt’s Bees Lip Balm in any flavour would make a perfect stocking...

MeMeMe Cosmetics – Eye & Brow Make-Up

MeMeMe Cosmetics – Eye & Brow Make-Up

My experience of MeMeMe Cosmetics in the past had been a bit hit and miss… I really liked the Eye Inspire Mono Eyeshadow in Mirage that I reviewed in 2013, but I wasn’t keen on their Cherub’s Blush Cheek & Lip Tint and found it messy and difficult to use. But when I was awakened by the postman on my birthday in March, I was very happy to find that MeMeMe had sent me a selection of eye and brow make-up for my birthday! A very welcome treat indeed and totally unexpected. So, what did I think? Read on to find out, there were 3 products: MeMeMe Dark & Divine Mascara* – it’s very rare that I find a mascara that I love so I didn’t have very high hopes with this one, but I’m pleased to say that it’s really great. The brush is very thin with tiny plastic ‘bristles’ and it’s so easy to get it right down into the roots of the lashes, to coat the...

Chanel – Nail Colour in Rouge Noir

Chanel – Nail Colour in Rouge Noir

I can’t believe I haven’t reviewed Chanel’s iconic Rouge Noir nail colour before on Beauty Best Friend! It’s my favourite ever nail shade and one that I go back to time and time again. I particularly love wearing it in the Winter and at Christmas. Launched in 1994 the launch of this dark blood red shade sent women crazy trying to get their hands on it, and it was made even more famous when it was worn by Uma Thurman in the film Pulp Fiction. In its first year sales of Rouge Noir nail polish reached $1 million and a nail legend was born! I know that Chanel nail polishes sometimes get a hard rap from bloggers – they’re expensive and some people have a bad time with them chipping – but I don’t seem to have this problem with mine although I do always use a base coat and a top coat which will help. Rouge Noir looks best worn on its own on short nails – it’s...

Elite Serum for eyes

Elite Serum for eyes

Most of the beauty products that I review have pretty instant effects – such as make-up – or begin to show their effects after 1-2 weeks – such as moisturisers and skin treatments. I’ve been using Elite Serum* around my eyes for 2 months now as it takes 45-60 days to start to show benefits and will show maximum benefits to the skin around the eyes following 6 months of regular application. Elite Serum is an eye serum which aims to increase elasticity on the eyelids and below the eye within days, reduces dark circles, performs a lightening around the eyes and minimises puffiness within a few weeks plus it continues to reduce fine lines after that for up to 6 months. Elite Serum is stored in a precision airless syringe which is really easy to use. Just remove the plastic cap and rubber tip, then unlock the syringe by twisting the end and press to dispense a dose enough for both eyes. I did find that my syringe...

Sleek – True Colour Lipstick in Vamp

Sleek – True Colour Lipstick in Vamp

I usually stick to the same pink and nude colours of lipstick so when I was given this Sleek True Colour Lipstick in Vamp by a friend I was a bit nervous of trying it. I have quite pale skin and I wasn’t too sure if this dark red would be too bold for me. I’ve absolutely loved the other Sleek products that I’ve tried (you can read my reviews of their Blush By 3 in Pink Lemonade and iDivine Eyeshadow Palette in Storm). I think their packaging is great too, matt black plastic and beautifully printed boxes, every time I see a Sleek palette it always makes me want to see what is inside. This True Colour Lipstick is no exception, it’s a matt black bullet tube with the Sleek logo standing out in gloss (you can just about make this out in the image above). Vamp is a dark maroony red with a matt finish, and the name ‘Vamp’ describes it perfectly. As it is a matt...

Maybelline – Brow Drama in Dark Brown

Maybelline – Brow Drama in Dark Brown

Despite having blonde hair I do like to keep my eyebrows fairly dark, and my eyebrow product of choice is usually Chanel’s Sculpting Eyebrow Pencil in Noir Cendre (you can read my review of that product here). I like to use a pencil as it’s easy to control and you can either rub it lightly on the hairs for a subtle colour or use more pressure and actually draw the colour onto the skin. So when I saw this new product from Maybelline which is actually a mascara for the eyebrows I was intrigued as to whether it would be better than a pencil or not. The Maybelline Brow Drama looks just like any normal mascara, except that the brush has a large bulbous end which you use to brush through the eyebrow hairs and deposit the mascara onto them. The brush is very stiff and spiky too, and I did find it quite difficult to just apply the product to the hairs and not smudge it all around...

The amazing eye pencil you NEED in your life!

The amazing eye pencil you NEED in your life!

I am a massive fan of Urban Decay cosmetics, they have funky packaging, great palettes and I love the use of sparkle, glimmer and glitter within their products. Plus Urban Decay is a member of Cruelty Free International, meaning that they have acquired the ‘Leaping Bunny’ stamp and their products are not tested on animals. One of my absolute favourite Urban Decay products (and possibly one of my favourite ever make-up products of all time!) is 24/7 Glide-On Eye Pencils. 24/7 Glide-On Eye Pencils come in over 40 different shades and I love that so many of them are really bright. There really is a colour to suit everyone, whether you prefer something understated or you love to experiment with a rainbow of shades. This is only a small selection of the shades that are available and I’ve tried quite a few of them over the past few years. Just look at the turquoise (Deep End), blue (Chaos) and Purple (Asphyxia), they’re simply stunning! The pencils have a lovely soft...

Glossybox – October 2013

Glossybox – October 2013

The theme of this month’s Glossybox is Dark Romance, with a focus on dark berry lips and illuminated skin, to help get recipients into the Halloween spirit. There’s a focus on skincare products this month which I am fairly pleased about, and another Glossybox magazine too which I enjoyed reading more than last month’s. So, now onto the products…. The first product is a small 20ml bottle of Illuminating Primer SPF 15 from natural skincare brand Monu. I received a moisturiser from Monu in one of the Glossyboxes over the Summer and I was really pleased with it, plus I love the fact that this primer contains sun protection SPF, so I am hoping that this product will be a good one. It can be used on its own for a flawless illuminating finish to skin, or as a base for make-up. A full size 50ml tube of Illuminating Primer SPF 15 from Monu is priced at £22. The next product is a small 20ml bottle of Moisturising Smoothie...
