New launches from Kiehl’s

New launches from Kiehl’s

Summer seems to be the time when a lot of skincare brands launch new products, and Kiehl’s is no exception. I have a great relationship with my local Kiehl’s store in York and Laura, the manager there, sent me samples of these two new products to try. If you don’t know much about Kiehl’s it was originally one old world New York pharmacy that was opened in 1851 by a Mr Kiehl and a Mr Morse (poor Mr Morse, he never got his name included in the brand). It offered its customers herbal remedies, over-the-counter drugs, essential oils and the very first Kiehl’s branded products. Fast forward over 150 years and it’s many stores now offer a wide range of skincare and bodycare products that make use of natural ingredients and benefit from Kiehl’s’ medicinal knowledge that has been developed over many years. Kiehl’s Daily Reviving Concentrate* – I absolutely love skincare oils, they feel so gentle and natural on the skin. This Daily Reviving Concentrate is the daytime equivalent of Kiehl’s’...

Salcura – Antiac Daily Face Wipes & Activ Gel Serum

Salcura – Antiac Daily Face Wipes & Activ Gel Serum

I was recently sent a selection of skincare products from natural skincare specialists Salcura, amongst it was this duo of Antiac products aimed at those with problem skin or acne. Antiac is a range of 100% natural acne treatment that contains no harsh chemicals, only plant-based ingredients such as sea buckthorn, tea tree and sandalwood oils. Antiac was recently rated the best acne treatment on Channel 4′s Embarrassing Bodies programme. You may have already read my review of Salcura’s Antiac Daily Face Wash and Activ Liquid Spray (read that here). I have had problems with my skin for many years, often experiencing bad breakouts, and I did find that the other Antiac products helped with that for a while, so I was looking forward to trying out this pack of Antiac Daily Face Wipes* and Activ Gel Serum*. Antiac Daily Face Wipes – If you’re a regular reader of my blog then you’ll know that I’m not a big fan of face wipes. In my opinion they don’t cleanse...

Organic Surge – Blissful Daily Moisturiser & Overnight Sensation Night Cream

Organic Surge – Blissful Daily Moisturiser & Overnight Sensation Night Cream

I’ve been struggling to find a good moisturiser recently, so I decided to treat myself to this duo from Organic Surge. Organic Surge products contain no parabens, sodium lauryl sulphate, no artificial fragrances or colourants and no genetically modified ingredients, neither are they tested on animals. If you’re a regular reader of Beauty Best Friend then you’ll know that I’m a big fan of organic skincare, and you may have already read my previous review of Organic Surge Orange Flower Toner (you can read that review here). I find that organic products are gentle on the skin and don’t over-stimulate it into producing lots of oil. Blissful Daily Moisturiser – this is a thick white cream with very little scent and it does take quite a while to completely sink into the skin. Ingredients include lemon essential oil and aloe vera. You only need to apply a tiny pea-sized blob of the cream and then wait a while after applying it before applying make-up or your foundation won’t ‘stick’...

Salcura – Antiac Daily Face Wash and ACTIV Liquid Spray & FREE samples

Salcura – Antiac Daily Face Wash and ACTIV Liquid Spray & FREE samples

I was recently contacted by Salcura to ask if I would like to try out some of their specialist natural skincare products. I was sent a real haul of products to test including these 2 Antiac products developed to help reduce and treat the symptoms of acne. Antiac is a range of 100% natural acne treatment that contains no harsh chemicals, only plant-based ingredients such as sea buckthorn, tea tree and sandalwood oils. Antiac was recently rated the best acne treatment on Channel 4’s Embarrassing Bodies programme. Antiac Daily Face Wash* – this is a ph neutral foaming facial wash with a translucent amber colour, and it lathers and foams fairly well. It should be used morning and evening. It removes face make-up really well, but it’s not too good at removing eye make-up so you may need to use a separate eye make-up remover beforehand. It has a pleasant scent that doesn’t smell medicated or clinical in any way and it’s totally free from parabens, SLS, perfumes, steroids,...

Organic Surge – Refreshing Toner

Organic Surge – Refreshing Toner

I have read so many good things about Organic Surge recently, so when I needed a new toner I decided I wanted to go natural and chose Organic Surge Refreshing Toner. Organic Surge products contain no parabens, sodium lauryl sulphate, no artificial fragrances or colourants and no genetically modified ingredients, neither are they tested on animals. I really wanted this toner to be great and it hasn’t disappointed. Refreshing Toner is a fairly simple product, it is a cooling toner with a lovely subtle lemony scent, and it really does feel refreshing on the skin (hence its name – Refreshing Toner!). It contains organic lemon and rosemary essential oils as well as other natural ingredients. I have been applying it at night with a cotton wool pad after cleansing to help refresh my skin and remove every last trace of cleanser. After use my skin feels nice and cool, and it doesn’t make my skin feel tight like other toners sometimes do. I am really enjoying using this product...
