Say “Yes” to carrots!

Say “Yes” to carrots!

Just a quick review today to talk about these haircare and bodycare products from Yes to… Regular readers of Beauty Best Friend will know that I’m always looking out for new natural skincare and bodycare ranges as I’m passionate about products that don’t contain lots of nasty chemicals. Yes to… is one of these natural brands, based in California their products are always made from at least 95% natural ingredients, are free of parabens, phthalates and SLS, and made with recyclable materials. There are 6 collections, each involves saying ‘Yes to’ a different fruit or vegetable. The products I’ve been trying out are Yes to Grapefruit Rejuvenating Body Wash* and Yes to Carrots Nourishing Shampoo and Pampering Conditioner*. Yes to Grapefruit Rejuvenating Body Wash – the grapefruit range is aimed at those with uneven or dull skintone. This pearlised white shower gel has a gentle zingy grapefruit scent to wake you up in the morning and exfoliating fruit acids help to remove dead skin cells leaving your skin glowing and...

Kerastase – Cristalliste Lait Cristal Conditioner

Kerastase – Cristalliste Lait Cristal Conditioner

This Kerastase Cristalliste Lait Cristal hair conditioner came in my March 2015 My Little Box. I wasn’t too impressed when I first discovered it as I’m not a big tryer of different hair products, I suffer from a sensitive scalp so usually when I find something that works I stick with it. But in the interests of blogging I tried out the Cristalliste Lait Cristal and I was really glad that I did! Cristalliste Lait Cristal is a creamy textured pale pink conditioner with a matching pretty scent. It has been developed specifically for those with long dry hair, or dry ends and contains no silicones or parabens. You just apply it to your hair like a regular conditioner after shampooing, focusing particularly on the ends of the hair, and leave it for 2-3 minutes then rinse off. I’ve only used it a couple of times so far but I’m really pleased with the results. My hair feels soft and silky right down to the ends, and the pretty scent stays...

Naked – Rescue Shampoo & Conditioner

Naked – Rescue Shampoo & Conditioner

Those of you who are regular readers of Beauty Best Friend will know that I suffer from a very sensitive, itchy scalp and I am constantly on the hunt for haircare products that are natural and non-irritating but that also treat my hair well and leave it feeling soft, shiny and clean. So far my experience has generally shown me that natural, SLS-free shampoos and conditioners do not irritate the scalp as much as their chemical filled cousins, but that they do not always clean the hair as well and can leave it looking and feeling greasy, sad and lifeless. One of the first SLS-free shampoo and conditioners that I tried, back in 2013, was Mild Shampoo and Gentle Conditioner from Naked. The relief that I got from my itchy scalp was almost instant, but I did find that it didn’t remove grease and oil from my hair too well, and I had to wash my hair a lot more often. Since then I’ve tried lots of different SLS-free haircare...

Salcura – Sensitive & Dry Scalp Shampoo & Conditioner

Salcura – Sensitive & Dry Scalp Shampoo & Conditioner

I was recently sent a whole host of skincare and haircare products from natural skincare specialists Salcura – you may have already read my review of their Antiac Daily Facial Wash and Activ Liquid Spray. Included in the package was this haircare duo of Shampoo and Conditioner* for sensitive and dry scalps, the aim of which is to ‘deal with a problem scalp and leave hair looking full of vitality’. I have had problems with a dry itchy scalp for about 3 years now, at its worst I visited the doctor who gave me a steroid liquid to apply to my scalp every night before bed. At first it did soothe the itching, but after a couple of weeks it started making my scalp sting and the dry flakes got worse and I vowed then I would treat it myself using gentle natural products. I have found that using sodium laureth sulphate free shampoos do help and the itching isn’t as bad as it used to be, but my...

Leo Bancroft – Blissfully Bouncy Volumising Shampoo & Conditioner

Leo Bancroft – Blissfully Bouncy Volumising Shampoo & Conditioner

You may have seen that last week I reviewed the new Moroccan Miracle Argan Oil from Leo Bancroft (you can read that review here). Well today I am reviewing Blissfully Bouncy Volumising Shampoo and Conditioner* also from Leo Bancroft. Leo Bancroft products are available exclusively at Tesco supermarkets and online at Tesco.com, and I think it’s great to be able to browse beauty products whilst you are doing your weekly food shop. These Blissfully Bouncy hair products are aimed at those with ‘fine hair that needs some oomph’ and have been developed to give volume at the roots and to help your hair ‘bounce’ as you walk. The shampoo is a clear gel with no fragrance and it lathers fairly well, and the directions on the tube say that you should focus on the roots when massaging the shampoo into the hair and scalp. Blissfully Bouncy Conditioner is a thick white cream with a gentle scent. To me it has the thickness of a moisturising hair mask rather than...

Neal & Wolf – Glow & Harmony

Neal & Wolf – Glow & Harmony

When I was asked to try out hair styling products Glow* and Harmony* from Neal & Wolf I was very excited as it’s a brand I have read a lot about recently but have never tried. The brand is all about enjoying a little indulgence every day and this is reflected in their beautiful shimmery premium packaging. Neal & Wolf, the brainchild of Neil Capstick who has worked in the hair industry for over 20 years, has concentrated on bringing out just a small number of products but with the very best ingredients and they are only sold in specially picked salons. The first of the two products that I tested out was Harmony Intensive Hair Treatment which is a conditioner suitable for all hair types. This product has been developed without containing any parabens or sulfates and has not been tested on animals, and I think it’s really great to see more haircare brands shunning some of the nasty ingredients that we find in our cosmetic products. Harmony...

Boots – Natural Collection Mango & Papaya Hi-Shine Conditioner

Boots – Natural Collection Mango & Papaya Hi-Shine Conditioner

I bought this sachet of Natural Collection Mango & Papaya Hi-Shine Conditioner from Boots ages ago and then put it in the bathroom cupboard and forgot about it. I found it last week and thought I would try it out as my hair was in need of a little bit of TLC after being out in the cold weather. I don’t really think that sachets are a cost-effective way of buying beauty products (this one cost £1 for just 10ml) but they are a good way of trying new products. Plus I really like putting together a little pamper box as a gift, made up of lots of different bodycare and haircare sachets (Sanctuary do a good range) plus a mini bottle of wine. Mango & Papaya Hi-Shine Conditioner is an intensive conditioner that contains revitalising extracts of mango & papaya to help leave hair shiny, smooth and healthy. You just apply it to hair after shampooing like you would with a regular conditioner then leave it for 5-10...

John Frieda – Full Repair Hydrate & Rescue Shampoo & Conditioner

John Frieda – Full Repair Hydrate & Rescue Shampoo & Conditioner

I wouldn’t describe my hair as damaged, but it is coloured and the ends get very dry and flyaway, so anything that promises to hydrate and rescue hair is welcome! I was recently asked to try out this duo from John Frieda’s Full Repair range – Hydrate & Rescue Shampoo and Conditioner and have been using them for just over a week. The Full Repair range promises to ‘reverse damage with every use’ and I wasn’t sure what to expect from these products, as I know it’s not possible to actually repair damage to hair such as split ends, etc, so I was looking forward to seeing what benefits this John Frieda shampoo and condtioner brought. Both products have a hydrating formula, and the ingredients include Inca Inchi Oil which is rich in omega-3, this helps to rescue hair from the look and feel of damage as it nourishes. The Full Repair range is safe for chemically treated or coloured hair. Both the Full Repair shampoo and conditioner are...
