KOREAN BEAUTY I-MIIX – Magic Capsule Silky Make Up Base

KOREAN BEAUTY I-MIIX – Magic Capsule Silky Make Up Base

I am currently taking part in an initiative working with BNT News International, a global beauty/fashion/lifestyle and entertainment source based in Seoul, South Korea. I am helping BNT to promote a selection of new and exciting Korean beauty products to a UK audience, these are products that you probably won’t have seen before and some of them are really different and unique. You may have already seen some of my previous Korean beauty reviews, such as this post about Artclass by Rodin contour palette from Too Cool For School. I’ve got another Korean make-up review for you today, this is Magic Capsule Silky Make Up Base from i-MIIX, it’s a colour correcting primer that you apply underneath your foundation to help even out skintone. Available in five different colours I was sent the green one which promises to tone down any red or pink undertones in the skin. I get quite rosy cheeks, particularly in cold weather, so this was the ideal choice for me. The other product colours...

Stila – Color Balm Lipstick in Isabelle

Stila – Color Balm Lipstick in Isabelle

I’ve been desperate to try some make-up from Stila for ages, their packaging makes their products look so tempting, so on Black Friday I put in a cheeky online order. One of the items I ordered was this Color Balm Lipstick in Isabelle, I liked the idea that this has the nourishing properties of a balm but is still fairly pigmented. First, let me start with the packaging. The Color Balm Lipstick comes in a rustic brown cardboard box which shows off the silver bullet tube really well. The lid of the tube has the word ‘Stila’ cut out of it and showing through is the same colour as the lipstick – a good way to see which colour you are choosing if you have a few of these without removing the lids. The best part of the tube is that it has a small round mirror on the end of the lid, it’s not very big, granted, but it’s enough to do an emergency touch-up or to check that...

NYC – Expert Last Lip Color in Creamy Caramel

NYC – Expert Last Lip Color in Creamy Caramel

I have to admit I’m not too clued up on budget make-up brand NYC. You can pick up their products in most Superdrug stores for a few pounds, and last year I reviewed their Appleicious Glossy Lip Balms which I really liked. I have to admit I’m a bit put off by NYC’s packaging, I think it looks quite cheap and there are other budget beauty brands who do packaging much better. I love nude and brown lipsticks (almost as much as I love pink lipsticks!) and this one is NYC’s offering – Expert Last Lip Color in Creamy Caramel. There are around 15 different shades of Expert Last Lip Color available, and at just £1.99 each you really can’t afford not to try one! Creamy Caramel is a nutty brown shade, with a creamy texture. It’s quite a pigmented shade but it’s definitely not matt as it has a subtle sheen to it. It has a lovely creamy soft luxurious feeling when it is on the lips and...

Ciate – Paint Pots in Pocket Money

Ciate – Paint Pots in Pocket Money

How stunning do Ciate Paint Pots look with their unique bottle shape and little black bow?! This is Pocket Money, and it’s the first Ciate nail polish that I ever purchased. Ciate (pronounced ‘See-are-tey’) is a London brand and they’re always bringing out innovative new nail products including their recent Shell Manicure whereby you sprinkle a layer of shimmery crushed shells directly onto a layer of wet nail polish. Check out the Ciate website to view their full range of nail polishes and special effects. Pocket Money is a creamy caramel colour with quite a glossy finish – very chic, it’s one of my favourites and I always receive nice comments when I’m wearing it. The brush is made up of 250 bristles and is flat and wide which means that it takes less strokes to apply the polish across the whole nail and makes it quicker and easier to get a neat finish. As I’ve already mentioned I love Ciate’s packaging, the uniquely shaped bottles are set off...

My 3 favourite….. Lipcare Products

My 3 favourite….. Lipcare Products

This is the second in my occasional feature ‘My 3 favourite…..’ in which I choose my 3 favourite products from a particular category. Today I will be discussing my 3 favourite lipcare products and explaining why I like them so much. I’m a bit of a sucker for lip balms, particularly if they’re in cute packaging, but they don’t always live up to their claims so I have picked 3 lipcare products that actually work and have different benefits for the lips. The first lipcare product that really makes the grade is Lip Glow Color Reviver Balm from Dior. I’ve been using this for a couple of years now and absolutely love it! It’s sort of a cross between a lip balm and a lipstick – it has been designed to enhance the lips’ natural colour, and it reacts with your lips’ own ‘chemistry’ to make lips look pinker, fuller and radiant. The pale pink balm looks pretty much clear when you apply it to your lips, but after...

Sleek – True Colour Lipstick in Vamp

Sleek – True Colour Lipstick in Vamp

I usually stick to the same pink and nude colours of lipstick so when I was given this Sleek True Colour Lipstick in Vamp by a friend I was a bit nervous of trying it. I have quite pale skin and I wasn’t too sure if this dark red would be too bold for me. I’ve absolutely loved the other Sleek products that I’ve tried (you can read my reviews of their Blush By 3 in Pink Lemonade and iDivine Eyeshadow Palette in Storm). I think their packaging is great too, matt black plastic and beautifully printed boxes, every time I see a Sleek palette it always makes me want to see what is inside. This True Colour Lipstick is no exception, it’s a matt black bullet tube with the Sleek logo standing out in gloss (you can just about make this out in the image above). Vamp is a dark maroony red with a matt finish, and the name ‘Vamp’ describes it perfectly. As it is a matt...

Zoya – Nail Polish in Elodie

Zoya – Nail Polish in Elodie

It’s been raining non-stop today so I decided to paint my nails in this bright zingy Zoya Nail Polish in Elodie* to cheer myself up. Zoya offers a huge range of toxin-free nail polishes (there are over 300 shades to choose from) free of the top 5 toxins usually found in nail polishes – formaldehyde, formaldehyde resin, toluene, dibutyl phthalate and camphor – that are thought to cause cancer and birth defects. Elodie is a bright cheerful orangey-red colour, it looks more orange in the bottle but when on the nails it darkens to the orangey-red shade you can see in the image above. My first thought when applying this Zoya nail polish was that the consistency is fairly watery and you need 2-3 good thick coats to get a good colour, however it does apply really easily and I suspect it won’t dry up or go ‘blobby’ like a lot of other nail polishes. The finish is quite shiny and reminds me a bit of an orange jelly...
