L’Occitane – Immortelle Divine Lotion

L’Occitane – Immortelle Divine Lotion

Today’s review is of a rather unique product – Immortelle Divine Lotion from French skincare experts L’Occitane. The aim of the lotion is to prepare skin in order for it to receive benefits from other daily skincare products – the Divine Lotion should be applied to the face before your usual moisturiser or serum and it will help the skin to absorb these other products and benefit from their nutrients. I’m pretty sure I’ve never come across a product with benefits like this before! With 3 patents, Immortelle Divine Lotion helps accelerate cellular renewal, firms and smoothes the skin, and aids it in retaining its elasticity. I have been applying the lotion to my face both morning and evening, in place of toner in between cleansing and moisturising. You can either apply it with a cotton wool pad and wipe it all over the face or with your fingers. The white cloudy lotion is extremely thin and runny, and is absorbed straight into a cotton wool pad so I...

Salcura – Face Wash & Face Hydrator

Salcura – Face Wash & Face Hydrator

I’ve reviewed, and loved, quite a few skincare and bodycare products from natural skincare brand Salcura now, you may have previously read my reviews of their Antiac products for acne-prone skin. Today I am reviewing their Face Wash* and Face Hydrator* for sensitive and dry skin. Salcura’s products are 100% natural and many of them contain sea buckthorn as one of their main ingredients, which helps to reduce inflammation and soothe skin, making them great for sensitive and problem skins. Salcura Face Wash is a bright orange lightly foaming cleanser with a gentle citrusy orange fragrance. It dispenses easily from the pump bottle and feels quite thick in your hands until you add a drop of water. It feels a bit like a cream cleanser when you apply it to your face as it’s so thick, but it does gently foam and rinses off easily. It feels really gentle on my skin and doesn’t leave it feeling tight like some soapy cleansers can do. I like to use a...

Thea – Face Renew Skin Brightening System

Thea – Face Renew Skin Brightening System

I was recently sent a sample of Face Renew Fruit Enzyme Creme Cleanser and Creme Moisturiser from organic skincare brand Thea, these are from their Skin Brightening System range which aims to brighten and revive dull skin using a blend of fruit enzyme extracts. The fruit enzymes gently exfoliate the skin without the need for exfoliating scrubs or other harsh products. The samples I got to try were quite small, just 15ml each. Both of the products are a thick off-white cream with a strong lemony scent – they felt a bit like rubbing lemon cheesecake over your face! I love the citrusy scent but it might not be for you if you’re not keen on strongly perfumed products. The Face Renew Fruit Enzyme Creme Cleanser removes foundation and other face make-up quite well, but isn’t so good at removing eye make-up so I did have to use a make-up remover first. The Face Renew Fruit Enzyme Creme Moisturiser feels quite rich on the skin, and whilst I have...

Every day can be a good hair day with Alchemy

Every day can be a good hair day with Alchemy

I’ve been raving about this Grapefruit Hair Remedy from Alchemy Oils on Twitter for days now, this is an all natural product that helps nourish and condition your hair. The Grapefruit Hair Remedy is a blend of 5 natural oils – Coconut, Avocado, Almond, Castor oils which all work to promote growth, thicken hair and add a lustrous shine, plus citrusy Grapefruit oil which fights dandruff and helps keep the scalp healthy. I have thick wavy blonde hair which can get quite dry and frizzy due to over-straightening, so I like to treat it every now and again to some kind of treatment. This one sounded perfect as it only contains natural ingredients. You shouldn’t be scared of using oils, they’re great for every bit of your body and I love to use an oil on my face too, you can read all about one of my favourites here. As you can see from the ingredients list above there’s nothing else added to this hair oil, and therefore it...

My 3 favourite….. Lipcare Products

My 3 favourite….. Lipcare Products

This is the second in my occasional feature ‘My 3 favourite…..’ in which I choose my 3 favourite products from a particular category. Today I will be discussing my 3 favourite lipcare products and explaining why I like them so much. I’m a bit of a sucker for lip balms, particularly if they’re in cute packaging, but they don’t always live up to their claims so I have picked 3 lipcare products that actually work and have different benefits for the lips. The first lipcare product that really makes the grade is Lip Glow Color Reviver Balm from Dior. I’ve been using this for a couple of years now and absolutely love it! It’s sort of a cross between a lip balm and a lipstick – it has been designed to enhance the lips’ natural colour, and it reacts with your lips’ own ‘chemistry’ to make lips look pinker, fuller and radiant. The pale pink balm looks pretty much clear when you apply it to your lips, but after...

Yves Rocher – Lifting Bio Anti-Wrinkle Night Care

Yves Rocher – Lifting Bio Anti-Wrinkle Night Care

For the past 2 weeks I’ve been using this Lifting Bio Anti-Wrinkle Night Care* moisturiser from traditional French cosmetics brand Yves Rocher. I was quite surprised when I found out that Yves Rocher had a small range of organic skincare products and I was really interested to compare this night cream with my favourite organic Overnight Sensation Night Cream from Organic Surge. The product itself is a rich thick white cream with a herby scent a bit like fennel or aniseed. I wasn’t too keen on the fragrance at first but it started to grow on me and now I quite like it, one of the ingredients is organic alfalfa so I think this must be what creates the scent. Other ingredients include sweet almond oil and shea butter, and it contains no parabens, petrochemicals or other nasties. I have been applying Lifting Bio Anti-Wrinkle Night Care every night before bed for the past two weeks. It does take a little while to sink into the skin as it...

miamoo – travel goodies

miamoo – travel goodies

Today I am reviewing a travel set of skincare goodies from miamoo, a natural skincare brand created by runner-up of the first ever Apprentice series, Saira Khan. Saira set up miamoo after years of suffering with extremely dry and sensitive skin, and all of the products in the range can be used by both adults and children. The miamoo range uses natural ingredients such as chamomile, orange flower water and cocoa butter – and there are no nasties, the full range is free of parabens, sulfates and other chemical nasties that can irritate the skin. This little kit of travel goodies* from miamoo contains 6 skincare products, plus a soft flannel, all gathered together in a clear pouch. The overall kit is quite small and would fit nicely in a suitcase without taking up much room. Each product is only very small (the bottles are 30ml and the pot is 10ml) and probably won’t last very long, but they’re enough for a week away and you can always refill...
