Embryolisse Complexion Correcting Care SPF20

Embryolisse Complexion Correcting Care SPF20

I very rarely wear foundation, it’s usually only reserved for a very occasional big night out as I don’t like the way it makes my skin feel – all caked on, thick and leaving my skin struggling to breathe. My preferred go-to bases include tinted moisturisers, mineral powders and CC creams, products that are light and airy, giving sufficient coverage but letting some of my skin’s natural ‘personality’ shine through. In addition they’re usually quick and easy to apply, and I don’t have a lot of time in the morning. I’ve been trying out a CC Cream from cult brand Embryolisse, which aims to improve and treat skin whilst you’re wearing it. Complexion Correcting Care SPF20 includes Hyaluronic Acid which re-plumps skin and Biosaccharide which is an anti-ageing ingredient, plus the cream is suitable for vegans. In addition, as the name suggests, it contains SPF20 to help protect skin from the sun’s damaging rays during the day, which is really important during Winter as well as Summer. Complexion Correcting Care SPF20 is...

NEW! TIGI Bed Head launches Joyride

NEW! TIGI Bed Head launches Joyride

Yesterday, 1st September 2015, marked the launch of Joyride – the new Powder Primer Balm (PP Balm) from TIGI’s Bed Head range. Joyride primes the hair with a fine, invisible powder that adds texture and grip, plus it also defrizzes and smoothes flyaway hair. Joyride can be used it on its own for styling, or as a primer before using other styling products. For best results it should be applied through the middle and lengths of damp hair to provide a soft texture, making the hair easier to style. I received a sample of Joyride* PP Balm a couple of weeks ago, you may have seen the teaser image I posted on Twitter as I wasn’t allowed to properly talk about the new product until after its launch… I have to admit I don’t normally use many styling products other than a bit of smoothing serum so I don’t have much to compare Joyride to, but after using my sample my hair did seem to resist frizz better than it would do usually after straightening....

Is Sebamed Clear Face skincare the answer for acne?

Is Sebamed Clear Face skincare the answer for acne?

I’d never heard of Sebamed when I was approached by them to see if I would try out some of their products. Their Clear Face collection is a range of products developed for acne prone skin, it reminds me of the sort of thing I would have used back when I was a teenager when there seemed to be loads of this sort of thing around (anyone remember Biactol!?). I was sent a Sebamed Clear Face 3-step skincare regime to try, consisting of Cleansing Bar, Deep Cleansing Facial Toner and Care Gel and I was asked to use them for a month to see what effect they had on my skin. I have combination skin with an oily chin and nose, and I am very prone to spots particularly on my chin, along my jawline and just under my cheekbones. The Clear Face range has been developed to restore skin’s pH level to 5.5 – that of a healthy skin. Sebamed Clear Face Cleansing Bar – I just LOVE a...

Luxurious Bodycare from London Butterflies

Luxurious Bodycare from London Butterflies

I’d never heard of London Butterflies before I was sent these luxurious bodycare products to try, but the first thing that impressed me was the beautiful packaging. From the pretty printed boxes with silver printing to the heavy glass jars inside, everything here has been thought about really well. The London Butterflies range is split into 4 distinct collections – Naturals, Florals, Fruits & Facial – and I have been lucky enough to try out products from 3 of these collections: Whipped Body Cream – this is from the florals collection and you will know why as soon as you smell it! The ingredients include Winter Jasmine and Starflower with Sweet Almond Oil. It’s a light white body cream with the perfect jasmine scent – I usually go for fruity fragrances over floral ones but this one is so delicate and pretty that I defy anyone not to like it! It feels really luxurious when you massage it into the skin and it sinks in really quickly leaving skin feeling silky...

Kerastase – Cristalliste Lait Cristal Conditioner

Kerastase – Cristalliste Lait Cristal Conditioner

This Kerastase Cristalliste Lait Cristal hair conditioner came in my March 2015 My Little Box. I wasn’t too impressed when I first discovered it as I’m not a big tryer of different hair products, I suffer from a sensitive scalp so usually when I find something that works I stick with it. But in the interests of blogging I tried out the Cristalliste Lait Cristal and I was really glad that I did! Cristalliste Lait Cristal is a creamy textured pale pink conditioner with a matching pretty scent. It has been developed specifically for those with long dry hair, or dry ends and contains no silicones or parabens. You just apply it to your hair like a regular conditioner after shampooing, focusing particularly on the ends of the hair, and leave it for 2-3 minutes then rinse off. I’ve only used it a couple of times so far but I’m really pleased with the results. My hair feels soft and silky right down to the ends, and the pretty scent stays...

Naked – Rescue Shampoo & Conditioner

Naked – Rescue Shampoo & Conditioner

Those of you who are regular readers of Beauty Best Friend will know that I suffer from a very sensitive, itchy scalp and I am constantly on the hunt for haircare products that are natural and non-irritating but that also treat my hair well and leave it feeling soft, shiny and clean. So far my experience has generally shown me that natural, SLS-free shampoos and conditioners do not irritate the scalp as much as their chemical filled cousins, but that they do not always clean the hair as well and can leave it looking and feeling greasy, sad and lifeless. One of the first SLS-free shampoo and conditioners that I tried, back in 2013, was Mild Shampoo and Gentle Conditioner from Naked. The relief that I got from my itchy scalp was almost instant, but I did find that it didn’t remove grease and oil from my hair too well, and I had to wash my hair a lot more often. Since then I’ve tried lots of different SLS-free haircare...

Batiste Dry Shampoo – Tropical

Batiste Dry Shampoo – Tropical

I’ve reviewed a few of the different ‘flavours’ of Batiste Dry Shampoo over the past couple of years, including the Light & Blonde variety. Dry Shampoo really is a lifesaver product and I’m never without a can on my dressing table – and I always go for Batiste as it’s the original, traditional dry shampoo. If you’ve never tried dry shampoo before it absorbs grease from the surface of your hair, helping to remove the shiny look of hair that could do with a wash, and it also adds texture and volume to freshly washed hair ideal if you want to create an up-do. In my opinion Batiste is the only brand of dry shampoo to buy, it’s been around forever and there’s a variety to suit everyone. I decided to choose the Tropical scented option last week when I purchased my latest can of Batiste Dry Shampoo. It’s described as ‘coconut & exotic’ and it certainly is that! It’s very highly perfumed with coconut and smells just like a desert island!...

Botanicals – Nourishing Face Balm

Botanicals – Nourishing Face Balm

Regular readers of Beauty Best Friend will know that I enjoy using natural and organic skincare, so I was overjoyed when I was chosen to review this Nourishing Face Balm* from natural organic skincare brand Botanicals. Botanicals say their aim is ‘to provide a range of personal care products which are as close to nature as possible’ and their products are approved by the Soil Association, are suitable for vegans and are never tested on animals. All of Botanicals’ products are blended by hand in rural England and contain no no petrochemicals or synthetic additives. Nourishing Face Balm is a deeply conditioning natural balm containing 89% organic ingredients. It is infused with wild rose and rose geranium, renowned for their nourishing and revitalising properties. The scent of the rose really comes through, it smells very heavenly. The texture of this product is a little odd, it feels very granulated when you first scoop a bit out on your fingers – a bit like it contains sugar – but the...
