NEW Brow Collection from Benefit

NEW Brow Collection from Benefit

Did you know… – we each spend £200 on average a year on products to groom our brows – there were 1.1 million brow products sold in the UK throughout 2015 – the two leading brow products are from Benefit – Benefit now run 1,100 brow bars across 46 different countries These were just some of the facts that I learned at the Leeds blogger launch of Benefit’s new brow range. I mean, I knew that brows were big business but I had no idea that brow products were selling on this scale. And that is the reason that Benefit have re-vamped and re-launched their brow range, offering a brow product for every one of us no matter what our colour or what sort of impact we want our brows to have. First up I want to tell you a little bit about the event. Benefit know how to throw a party, and they had invited around fifty Yorkshire bloggers to the White Cloth Gallery in Leeds. When we arrived we listened...

MeMeMe Cosmetics – Eye & Brow Make-Up

MeMeMe Cosmetics – Eye & Brow Make-Up

My experience of MeMeMe Cosmetics in the past had been a bit hit and miss… I really liked the Eye Inspire Mono Eyeshadow in Mirage that I reviewed in 2013, but I wasn’t keen on their Cherub’s Blush Cheek & Lip Tint and found it messy and difficult to use. But when I was awakened by the postman on my birthday in March, I was very happy to find that MeMeMe had sent me a selection of eye and brow make-up for my birthday! A very welcome treat indeed and totally unexpected. So, what did I think? Read on to find out, there were 3 products: MeMeMe Dark & Divine Mascara* – it’s very rare that I find a mascara that I love so I didn’t have very high hopes with this one, but I’m pleased to say that it’s really great. The brush is very thin with tiny plastic ‘bristles’ and it’s so easy to get it right down into the roots of the lashes, to coat the...

Makeup Revolution – Awesome Eyeshadow & Eyebrow Palette Lock & Load

Makeup Revolution – Awesome Eyeshadow & Eyebrow Palette Lock & Load

My Twitter feed has been full of comments and reviews on new budget make-up brand Makeup Revolution for a good few months now, so I’m a bit late to the party. I have to admit that my first impression of this Awesome Eyeshadow & Eyebrow Palette in Lock & Load was not a good one, as the first palette that I purchased arrived damaged in the post and it had to be replaced. The palette itself is quite flimsy and 2 of the eyeshadows had crumbled and come out of their pans completely making for a bit of a mess. I also find the fastening of the palette a bit odd, there is a ‘press stud’ type of contraption at one end that you have to prize apart, and the first time I tried opening it I broke my nail. Continuing on a negative theme, I also think that Lock & Load contains a strange collection of colours – although each shade is nice in itself they don’t really...

Maybelline – Brow Drama in Dark Brown

Maybelline – Brow Drama in Dark Brown

Despite having blonde hair I do like to keep my eyebrows fairly dark, and my eyebrow product of choice is usually Chanel’s Sculpting Eyebrow Pencil in Noir Cendre (you can read my review of that product here). I like to use a pencil as it’s easy to control and you can either rub it lightly on the hairs for a subtle colour or use more pressure and actually draw the colour onto the skin. So when I saw this new product from Maybelline which is actually a mascara for the eyebrows I was intrigued as to whether it would be better than a pencil or not. The Maybelline Brow Drama looks just like any normal mascara, except that the brush has a large bulbous end which you use to brush through the eyebrow hairs and deposit the mascara onto them. The brush is very stiff and spiky too, and I did find it quite difficult to just apply the product to the hairs and not smudge it all around...

Chanel – Sculpting Eyebrow Pencil in Noir Cendre

Chanel – Sculpting Eyebrow Pencil in Noir Cendre

I agree that eyebrow pencils aren’t really a very exciting product, but an essential one nonetheless. Chanel’s Sculpting Eyebrow Pencil is a really great product – it has the pencil at one end and a brush at the other end, both covered with a cap. I have been using Noir Cendre which translates from French as ‘black ash’ and it’s a good description of the colour. Although I have fair hair I do like to use a black eyebrow pencil, this useful Chanel pencil has a light powdery texture and it requires a lot of light feathery strokes to gradually build up the colour so it’s really easy to get a natural result – there’s nothing worse than thick black ‘drawn-on’ eyebrows. My only complaint that it is rather long and won’t fit in my makeup bag, I have had to sharpen the pencil end to make it a bit shorter! I do like cosmetics that double up and provide more than one function, and Chanel’s Sculpting Eyebrow Pencil is one of those products....
