The budget W7 Bronzer/Blusher/Highlighter palette you can’t live without!

The budget W7 Bronzer/Blusher/Highlighter palette you can’t live without!

I really love discovering new products from budget beauty brand W7, they’re so affordable and yet they so often produce amazing dupes for cult beauty items from other brands. You might have seen my review of W7 Night Glow liquid highlighter a couple of weeks ago which is a complete dupe for Benefit High Beam. I spotted the Cheeky Trio palette on Amazon it’s a pressed powder palette containing a bronzer, blusher and highlighter and it reminds me a bit of Sleek Face Form Contour Palettes (but this W7 option is much cheaper at under a fiver!) I’ve been looking for a good highlighting powder for ages so I thought I’d give it a go… The three powder shades are called Dream Machine (bronzer), 5th Avenue (blusher) and Hot Stuff (highlighter). The surfaces of the powders are rippled which look quite effective in the palette but I did find it made it a little bit difficult to swish your brush over them evenly! The image above shows swatches of the three...

Limited edition Summer 2015 products from Clarins

Limited edition Summer 2015 products from Clarins

I love a limited edition product, they always seem to have such a buzz around them and these two offerings from Clarins are no exception. They are Instant Light Radiance Boosting Complexion Base in Apricot* and Summer Bronzing Compact*, both part of the Clarins Aquatic Treasures Summer Make-Up Collection which was launched in May 2015. Aquatic Treasures is all about capturing the textures and shades of the ocean and all of the products within the limited edition collection aim to illuminate the skin and help give a glowing complexion. Instant Light Radiance Boosting Complexion Base in Apricot – I’ve actually reviewed this product before but in a different shade – Rose – you can read my review of that here. It’s quite a luxury product that you can use to add a bit of colour or shimmer to your complexion. This Apricot shade is a limited edition and can be used to give your skin a healthy warm glow and it also contains Clarins’ anti-pollution complex to help protect skin from...

Soap & Glory – Solar Powder

Soap & Glory – Solar Powder

I’ve read some really glowing reviews of Soap & Glory Solar Powder over the past few months so I thought I’d try it out for myself. Solar Powder is a pressed powder bronzer in two shades, perfect for using all over the body. I’ve been really impressed with the other products I’ve reviewed from Soap & Glory like Peaches & Clean Deep Cleansing Milk and The Fab Pore Mask & Peel so I was looking forward to seeing if this bronzer lived up to their other products. The left-hand shade is the darkest and is a matt bronzer. It actually looks darker in the palette than it does on the skin, it gives a natural tan to the skin and doesn’t look orange at all. It’s great to use for contouring and doesn’t leave the face looking stripy. The right-hand shade is the paler of the two and has a slight golden iridescence to it. I had imagined it would be much more of a highlighter than a bronzer, but...

UK Launch of Essence Make-Up

UK Launch of Essence Make-Up

Essence make-up has been around overseas since 2002 but has only recently been launched in the UK. Unfortunately I was unable to make it to their launch party but I was kindly sent a selection of Essence make-up to try. My first impressions of Essence is good, the products and packaging remind me a bit of Rimmel London and I feel they are aimed at girls aged 12-18 although they would suit anyone looking for make-up on a budget. I will be reviewing 3 Essence make-up products today, and I have another couple of items (including a glitter nail varnish) that I will be reviewing over the coming weeks. The first product that I tried was Essence Pureskin Anti-Spot Moisturizing Make-Up*, a light foundation designed to help fight spots and blackheads which contains Clearderm Complex that fights spots and also zinc and bisabolol which help speed up the healing process. The product is fairly light, a bit like a cross between a foundation and a tinted moisturiser and it...

Tesco Soleil – Bronzing Protection Sun Lotion & Tinted Bronzing Lotion

Tesco Soleil – Bronzing Protection Sun Lotion & Tinted Bronzing Lotion

Last Bank Holiday weekend here in York the weather was lovely and sunny, so it was a perfect time for me to review this Bronzing Protection Sun Lotion* and Tinted Bronzing Lotion* from the Tesco Soleil range. I do find that the Tesco own-brand suncare products are great value for money and it’s always really convenient to be able to pick up beauty and skincare products whilst you are doing your weekly grocery shop. Soleil Bronzing Protection Sun Lotion – this sun lotion is very similar to any other standard sun lotion but much better value than brands like Nivea, etc. It has a medium SPF protection of 15, which is generally around the coverage that I like to use (I have fair skin but it tans quite easily without burning). It is a medium consistency lotion with a feint coconutty scent and it sinks into the skin fairly quickly. I have to point out that this lotion really isn’t sticky at all, which is one of the things...

Living Nature – Summer Bronze Pressed Powder

Living Nature – Summer Bronze Pressed Powder

I was recently contacted by Living Nature to see if I was interested in trying out their Summer Bronze Pressed Powder*. I hadn’t heard of Living Nature before this, but being a brand that only uses natural ingredients I was really excited to try out this product as I am currently on a mission to replace all of my everyday skincare and make-up products with natural equivalents. Living Nature was launched in 1987 in New Zealand. Their products contain no synthetics, use only 100% natural ingredients, preservatives and fragrances and are never tested on animals. Their full range of cosmetics and skincare is Certified Natural by BDIH Germany, and their policy is ‘if there is any doubt about the safety of an ingredient, we don’t use it’.I love their philosophy! They also harness a lot of New Zealand’s native botanicals like Manuka Oil, Hallo Clay and Kelp and use these within their products. The Summer Bronze Pressed Powder is housed inside a nice black metal compact along with a small...

Bobbi Brown – Bronzer & Bronzer Brush

Bobbi Brown – Bronzer & Bronzer Brush

Bobbi Brown Bronzer is a product I wear all the time – you can see from my photos that the compact is well used! I originally purchased this when I visited the Bobbi Brown counter in Selfridges at The Trafford Centre, Manchester, to buy a different product. The assistant gave me a mini-makeover and applied this Bronzer to my cheeks and I was instantly converted, buying both the Bronzer and the Bronzer Brush. I went for the lightest shade, Golden Light. It is a really subtle matt colour with no shimmer that gives a natural sun-kissed look and isn’t orange at all. Use the Bobbi Brown Bronzer Brush to apply a thin dusting of the Bronzer all over the face, then gradually build up the colour on the cheekbones, bridge of the nose and forehead – the areas where you naturally catch the sun. I wear this all year round, but particularly in the Summer (I always wear a moisturiser that contains SPF so when I have a tan I use...
