Get firm skin with Trilogy Firming Body Lotion

Get firm skin with Trilogy Firming Body Lotion

It’s so important to know what you’re putting on your skin. Have you ever read the ingredient list of your favourite skincare product and wondered what everything is and what it does? When I’m choosing and purchasing my own skincare and bodycare products I always look for brands that contain natural or organic ingredients and Trilogy is one of those brands that I often choose. Voted New Zealand’s no 1 skincare brand the majority of their products are designed around rosehip, a super food for the skin that helps  cells to repair themselves. Trilogy Firming Body Lotion is a body moisturiser that helps to nourish, smooth and firm the skin and improve the skin’s natural elasticity. It contains rosehip, evening primrose (aids in the regeneration of skin cells) and caffeine (has a firming effect on the skin). I’ve been using Firming Body Lotion for 2 weeks now, applying it after a bath or shower. I find that the lotion leaves skin looking quite matt, but it does feel soft...

Relax with Botanicals organic body oil

Relax with Botanicals organic body oil

Regular readers of Beauty Best Friend will know that wherever possible I use organic bodycare products, and that I simply adore the organic brand Botanicals. A British brand whose aim is to create products ‘which are as close to nature as possible’, their bodycare and skincare is simply second to none and they’re certified by The Soil Association. Over the past couple of years I’ve tried several of their products including my favourite Cleansing Melt and I haven’t found anything that I don’t like yet! This month I’ve been trying their Deep Peace Aromatic Body Oil which arrived with me just at the right time – my husband had man flu, I had a cold and I was looking after our 16 month old toddler alone. Deep Peace was just what my body was craving!   I was sent a small glass bottle of the oil to try, but the full size product is a larger 100ml pump bottle (it also comes in 200ml and 1 litre bottles too). The directions...

What’s new from The Body Shop this Valentines Day?

What’s new from The Body Shop this Valentines Day?

You may have seen that a couple of weeks ago I featured the brand new Bowhanti perfume from The Body Shop® as my Perfume of The Day. Well today I’ve got a whole host of more brand news products from The Body Shop® to show you, and I think you’ll be impressed! First up is the new Almond Milk & Honey bodycare collection, newly released on Valentines Day! With almond milk from Spain and Community Trade honey from Ethiopia, this range is perfect if you suffer from sensitive or dry skin. Almond oil helps to nourish whilst honey soothes, and they both smell fantastic too! I’ve been trying out four different products from the range: Almond Milk & Honey Soothing & Caring Shower Cream is perfect for sensitive skin, it’s really light and much thinner and runnier than a shower gel. It has a texture similar to that of pouring cream, and it smells divine (in fact all these products smell amazing!). The scent is warm and comforting like...

Gentle skincare for you and your baby from Weleda

Gentle skincare for you and your baby from Weleda

So I’m very careful about what I use on a regular basis on my skin, and I’m even more careful about what I use on my baby daughter. OK, so she’s not really a baby any more (she’s pretty much a toddler at 16 months old) but ever since she was born I’ve checked the ingredients of all the products that I’ve used in her bath. For a long time we exclusively used Burt’s Bees products from their Baby Bee range which are great for young skin, but now I’m starting to branch out and try other products. I was sent this Calendula Shampoo & Body Wash from Weleda to try out, and the thing that got me most excited is that it doesn’t contain sodium laureth sulphate (SLS) which is the ingredient that causes a shampoo, shower gel or soap to lather. Instead of SLS this body wash uses coconut and sugar plant-based cleansers. SLS has always caused me a problem, making my skin dry and my scalp...

Make a difference with Body Butter from The Body Shop

Make a difference with Body Butter from The Body Shop

Did you know….. that The Body Shop® launched their iconic Body Butters 24 years ago with just three flavours? For almost a quarter of a century now, people have been moisturising with Body Butter, and there are now 17 fragrances to choose from. I remember discovering the Shea Body Butter when I was a teenager (I’m showing my age now!) and being really impressed with how soft and smooth my legs felt after applying it before a night out. And despite trying many other body moisturising products along the years I’ve regularly come back to the sheer richness of The Body Shop® Body Butters. Body Butters also contain natural ingredients that have been sourced through The Body Shop® unique Community Trade Programme, so each purchase helps to change the lives of communities around the world. For example, sourcing Shea Butter from Ghana has helped fund water pipes and wells, and the Argan Oil comes from co-operatives in Morocco providing their women with a fair and regular income enabling them...

Say “Yes” to carrots!

Say “Yes” to carrots!

Just a quick review today to talk about these haircare and bodycare products from Yes to… Regular readers of Beauty Best Friend will know that I’m always looking out for new natural skincare and bodycare ranges as I’m passionate about products that don’t contain lots of nasty chemicals. Yes to… is one of these natural brands, based in California their products are always made from at least 95% natural ingredients, are free of parabens, phthalates and SLS, and made with recyclable materials. There are 6 collections, each involves saying ‘Yes to’ a different fruit or vegetable. The products I’ve been trying out are Yes to Grapefruit Rejuvenating Body Wash* and Yes to Carrots Nourishing Shampoo and Pampering Conditioner*. Yes to Grapefruit Rejuvenating Body Wash – the grapefruit range is aimed at those with uneven or dull skintone. This pearlised white shower gel has a gentle zingy grapefruit scent to wake you up in the morning and exfoliating fruit acids help to remove dead skin cells leaving your skin glowing and...

Roger & Gallet – Precious Revitalizing Balm

Roger & Gallet – Precious Revitalizing Balm

Roger & Gallet are really good at taking one of their fragrances and then developing lots of bodycare products around it. They’ve recently released a new collection of moisturising body balms in three of their bestselling fragrances – Fleur d’Osmanthus, Fleur de Figuier and Rose. This trio of balms has been created to nourish and cocoon the skin in comfort whilst adding a gentle scent. I was sent the Precious Revitalizing Balm in the Fleur d’Osmanthus* to try out. Roger & Gallet suggest that the Fleur d’Osmanthus fragrance ‘transports you into a Chinese Garden of Eden’, it’s made up of the scent of the Osmanthus flower plus mandarin, grapefruit and benzoin essential oils. It’s quite a floral bouquet with a note of white tea. Personally it’s not my favourite of Roger & Gallet’s scents, it’s a bit too floral and Summery for me. My first observation was that the fragrance is quite strong with this body balm so it’s perfect for layering with the other products in this collection – including the Sorbet...

The Body Shop Christmas Blog Event

The Body Shop Christmas Blog Event

A week last Friday I was lucky enough to attend The Body Shop Christmas Blogger Event at my local store in Coppergate, York. There are few brands do Christmas as full-on as The Body Shop and their festive fragrances are amazing so I was looking forward to getting into the Christmas spirit and trying out some new products. We were welcomed into the store with a glass of bubbly and a festive cupcake, then the Store Manager started off by giving us a quick overview of how the evening would run and then told us about this year’s three Christmas fragrances – Frosted Plum, Frosted Cranberry and Glazed Apple. We were then split into two groups and given a tour of the latest new products from The Body Shop. The first range we looked at was the new Oils Of Life, I already reviewed these skincare products here when they launched. Next up we got to try out some of the new Christmas make-up. I think people often forget that The Body Shop...
