The Body Shop Autumn Blogger Event 2017

The Body Shop Autumn Blogger Event 2017

So a couple of weeks ago I was lucky enough to be invited to The Body Shop® blogger event at my local store in Coppergate, York. It had been organised by blogger Indigo Rosee, in collaboration with the store. The evening had been set up to showcase the new limited edition Christmas make-up collection and also promote the huge sale that the store had on. There were some amazing deals! We were welcomed with prosecco and nibbles and then had a few minutes to browse the store and take some photos. I received a great demonstration of the new make-up products which include 2 shades of cosmetic glitter in little star-shaped pots and a funky black eyeliner pen with a star stamp on one end which EVERYONE tried out! I always really love The Body Shop® Christmas make-up collections, and I think it’s a shame that it’s a brand that is sometimes forgotten when it comes to make-up. Then everyone was treated to a hand spa and massage using...

5 of the best… Hot Cloth Cleansers

5 of the best… Hot Cloth Cleansers

So today I’m starting a new feature called ‘5 of the best…’ where I’ll do a quick review of my 5 favourite items in a specific category and explain why I like them and who each one would suit. My first review in the ‘5 of the best’ series is Hot Cloth Cleansers. What is a Hot Cloth Cleanser? Hot Cloth Cleansers are a fairly new popular way of cleansing the face, whereby you apply the thick creamy cleanser to your skin and then remove it with warm water using a soft bamboo or cotton face cloth that is provided with the product. Why do I need a Hot Cloth Cleanser? The creamy cleanser removes all traces of dirt and make-up while the cloth gently exfoliates the skin to keep it looking fresh and bright. As the cloth is so soft it’s safe to use every day, compared with scratchy exfoliating creams and sponges which should only be used once or twice per week. A lot of them contain...

Get the lowdown now on emerging organic skincare brand

Get the lowdown now on emerging organic skincare brand

A few weeks ago I was contacted by new skincare brand Sapphire Organic Skincare asking if I’d try out their products. I’m such an advocate of independent natural & organic skincare brands, I don’t like using products that contain nasty chemicals – including parabens, mineral oil, sodium laureth sulphate (SLS) – these are all ingredients that I try to avoid where I can. The branding has a bit of a way to go I think. The name Sapphire doesn’t stand out,  and there are no directions on the labels explaining how to use the products. The printing on the labels smudges when you touch them with product on your hands too. What I do like though is that the ingredients are really clearly listed, and every one is natural and 100% organic. Rose Garden Soft Face Balm I love using natural moisturisers and this Rose Garden Soft Face Balm was the first Sapphire product I tried. Shea Butter is the main ingredient, plus it also contains Rosehip Oil which...

Why it’s time for change at Beauty Best Friend

Why it’s time for change at Beauty Best Friend

Change is in the air here at Beauty Best Friend HQ. Since having my daughter almost 2 years ago my blog has had to take a bit of a back seat while I learned how to be a mummy. I’ve been busy changing nappies, reading Peppa Pig and pureeing vegetables, and whilst it’s been enjoyable most of the time I’m looking forward to getting back to work when my little one starts pre-school in a couple of weeks. I’ve recently completed the Turn Your Dreams Into Money blog course from Emma Drew, which has been fantastically motivating. I think I’d lost sight of where I wanted Beauty Best Friend to go and was just plodding on writing the occasional product review, but the course has given me some direction and I’ve got lots of new things planned over the coming months. One thing I would like to know is what YOU, my readers, want from Beauty Best Friend? I’d love to hear from you to find out how often...

How to earn £100,000 from your blog

How to earn £100,000 from your blog

It may look like things have been pretty quiet here at Beauty Best Friend for the past few weeks, but actually big things are afoot! I’ve been taking Emma Drew’s Turn Your Dreams Into Money blogging course, and I have to say it’s really changed the way I look at blogging. I’ve been blogging for over 4 years now and whilst I know a little bit about lots of aspects of blogging I really wanted my blog to work a lot harder for me and…. well…. start earning me a bit of money. It sounds wrong to say it out loud. Ultimately I started writing Beauty Best Friend because I enjoy talking about make-up, but given all the time and effort that I put into it I thought it would be nice to start earning some real money from it. I’ve used affiliate links and Google AdSense for a good while now but never really put much thought into it and I’d only earned a few pounds here and...

Looking for an outstanding organic moisturiser with SPF?

Looking for an outstanding organic moisturiser with SPF?

Over the past year or so I’ve been trying to replace all of my everyday skincare and bodycare products with those that are more natural, choosing organic where I can. One area where I’ve struggled a bit is with moisturiser that contains an SPF, I always try to wear an SPF on my face, even in Winter. I have feint dark pigment marks around my eyes (these got worse when I was pregnant but have thankfully calmed down a lot now) and these get much darker when I’ve been in natural daylight. My old favourite moisturiser was Clarins HydraQuench Lotion which I reviewed back in 2013 and as much as it really suited my combination skin I felt it was time to look for something a bit more natural. It took quite a bit of searching to find something that I felt I was happy to try out, as there doesn’t seem to be a lot of natural moisturisers with SPF out there to choose from. Enter Green People Day...

3 steps to firmer skin with luxurious new products from The Body Shop

3 steps to firmer skin with luxurious new products from The Body Shop

So I’ve got a review today about some products that I know you’re going to be very excited about. When I posted a sneak peek of these new products on Twitter a couple of weeks ago things went crazy and my tweet had more likes and retweets than any I’d ever posted before! It’s the brand new Firming Ritual from The Body Shop® Spa Of The World™ collection and it was only launched in shops on 18th July 2017. I really love the new collections that The Body Shop® have brought out over the past couple of years, one of my favourites is Oils Of Life that launched in 2015. There are 4 new products in the Firming Ritual collection and I’ve been trying them out for the past couple of weeks. The products have been designed around a luxurious three-step ritual to help firm and tone the skin and all the products contain fantastic ingredients that are well known to stimulate and refine those areas that need a...
