Can this treatment really cure your acne?

Can this treatment really cure your acne?

I suffered from severe acne in my teens and have suffered on and off from mild acne for the rest of my adult life. In some ways it can be more embarrassing as an adult as everyone assumes that it’s a teenage affliction and that you grow out of it, but not always so. I’ve visited the doctor many times and received several different treatments – none of which have worked for any length of time. Thankfully I have managed to find ways of coping with my acne and hiding it to some extent and I have found that using natural skincare products improves my skin slightly. I was asked a few weeks ago if I would be interested in trying out this Acne Gel from Gladskin, the Acne Gel contains the active ingredient Staphefekt which kills only the bad bacteria that often cause infections during acne. Killing this bacteria can prevent and reduce symptoms such as redness and pimples. The Gladskin website reports that 84% of people who have tried Acne...

Is Sebamed Clear Face skincare the answer for acne?

Is Sebamed Clear Face skincare the answer for acne?

I’d never heard of Sebamed when I was approached by them to see if I would try out some of their products. Their Clear Face collection is a range of products developed for acne prone skin, it reminds me of the sort of thing I would have used back when I was a teenager when there seemed to be loads of this sort of thing around (anyone remember Biactol!?). I was sent a Sebamed Clear Face 3-step skincare regime to try, consisting of Cleansing Bar, Deep Cleansing Facial Toner and Care Gel and I was asked to use them for a month to see what effect they had on my skin. I have combination skin with an oily chin and nose, and I am very prone to spots particularly on my chin, along my jawline and just under my cheekbones. The Clear Face range has been developed to restore skin’s pH level to 5.5 – that of a healthy skin. Sebamed Clear Face Cleansing Bar – I just LOVE a...

Salcura – Antiac Daily Face Wipes & Activ Gel Serum

Salcura – Antiac Daily Face Wipes & Activ Gel Serum

I was recently sent a selection of skincare products from natural skincare specialists Salcura, amongst it was this duo of Antiac products aimed at those with problem skin or acne. Antiac is a range of 100% natural acne treatment that contains no harsh chemicals, only plant-based ingredients such as sea buckthorn, tea tree and sandalwood oils. Antiac was recently rated the best acne treatment on Channel 4′s Embarrassing Bodies programme. You may have already read my review of Salcura’s Antiac Daily Face Wash and Activ Liquid Spray (read that here). I have had problems with my skin for many years, often experiencing bad breakouts, and I did find that the other Antiac products helped with that for a while, so I was looking forward to trying out this pack of Antiac Daily Face Wipes* and Activ Gel Serum*. Antiac Daily Face Wipes – If you’re a regular reader of my blog then you’ll know that I’m not a big fan of face wipes. In my opinion they don’t cleanse...

Salcura – Antiac Daily Face Wash and ACTIV Liquid Spray & FREE samples

Salcura – Antiac Daily Face Wash and ACTIV Liquid Spray & FREE samples

I was recently contacted by Salcura to ask if I would like to try out some of their specialist natural skincare products. I was sent a real haul of products to test including these 2 Antiac products developed to help reduce and treat the symptoms of acne. Antiac is a range of 100% natural acne treatment that contains no harsh chemicals, only plant-based ingredients such as sea buckthorn, tea tree and sandalwood oils. Antiac was recently rated the best acne treatment on Channel 4’s Embarrassing Bodies programme. Antiac Daily Face Wash* – this is a ph neutral foaming facial wash with a translucent amber colour, and it lathers and foams fairly well. It should be used morning and evening. It removes face make-up really well, but it’s not too good at removing eye make-up so you may need to use a separate eye make-up remover beforehand. It has a pleasant scent that doesn’t smell medicated or clinical in any way and it’s totally free from parabens, SLS, perfumes, steroids,...

The essential facemask to help control your acne

The essential facemask to help control your acne

I have combination skin with a very oily chin that regularly experiences breakouts of spots and acne and it would be great to find a product that could keep my skin under control. This Clarifying Mask from Murad is aimed at skin that has acne, and contains a unique combination of clays which draw out impurities and absorb excess oil, leaving skin looking smooth and shine-free. The Murad brand was developed by Dr Howard Murad who has a 30-year legacy of research and clinical testing, and he believes that health can only be achieved by treating all cells of the body – by eating healthily, managing stress and nourishing skin with topical creams and treatments. This is a thick, white clay-based mask which contains kaolin and bentonite clays – these draw out and absorb pore-clogging dirt and oil from the skin, whilst liquorice extract comforts, calms and soothes irritated skin, reducing redness and inflammation. The mask has a clean slightly clay-y menthol fragrance and the skin tingles when it...

Witch – Blemish Stick

Witch – Blemish Stick

I often get oily patches on my combination skin and more often than not this leads to a breakout of spots. Generally these occur on my chin, but recently I have also had a breakout above my right eyebrow too. So in my bid to use more natural skincare products I have been trying out Witch Blemish Stick to see if it was up to the job. Witch is a skincare brand that I haven’t tried before, all of their products are based around the natural ingredient of Witch Hazel, a plant which grows wild in the USA. Witch Hazel is an astringent, which tightens the skin when applied helping to reduce re-infection and inflammation. It also helps to close damaged skin and encourages healing. Witch Blemish Stick is a little blue plastic bullet with a screw-off lid. Inside is a solid block of blue ‘gel’ which you push up from underneath and then apply to your skin. The packaging isn’t pretty or clever, this product is all about...
