Shave your legs without using shaving gel

Shave your legs without using shaving gel

This Wilkinson Sword Intuition razor came in my December Glossybox. I was a bit surprised as it wasn’t the sort of thing I expected to find in a subscription box, but we all need a razor right? The first thought that struck me is that it is rather large – this is because it is a 3-in-1 product that has a big solid soap around the razor that lathers and moisturises while you shave. This means you can shave without the need to apply shaving foam or shower gel first, and the solid soap contains Natural Aloe and is enriched with Vitamin E to help care for your skin. The Intuition Naturals razor is really easy to use, just wet the end of the razor (or your legs) and then use. The razor glides along the skin really easily and gives a nice close shave. I did find it a bit cumbersome though as it is so big, and a bit difficult to manoeuvre around bony areas such as knees...

Elegant Touch – Rapid Dry For Nails

Elegant Touch – Rapid Dry For Nails

I received this Rapid Dry For Nails in my November Glossybox and I first tried it out on New Years Eve, when (as usual) I had left it until the last minute to apply my nail varnish and I needed it to dry so that I could put my coat on and leave the house. Elegant Touch claim that Rapid Dry For Nails dries nail polish in 60 seconds, and I was really hoping this was true! It’s a really easy product to use, you just spray a fine mist over freshly painted nails – holding the can around 10cms from your nails. It reminded me a bit of a dry oil spray as it left my fingers looking nice and soft and shiny as if I had just applied handcream. A few minutes after applying the spray my nails did start to look rather dull, but this was just the effect of the Rapid Dry spray forming tiny drops of condensation on my nails, and this easily washed...

Selfridges Beauty Christmas Advent Calendar – The Review

Selfridges Beauty Christmas Advent Calendar – The Review

Last year I decided to treat myself to Selfridges Beauty Christmas Advent Calender. At £85 it certainly wasn’t cheap, but I knew that whatever Selfridges were offering  had to be great quality and I couldn’t wait for 1st December to come so that I could pop open that first door! The calendar itself was a box, hinged in the middle, and it was really sturdy. Each product was hidden behind a perforated door and each beauty item came out easily apart from a couple of the perfumes that had to be gouged out of the plastic casing using tweezers. The image above shows a selection of the beauty products that came out of the advent calendar. There was a really great selection of skincare products – mostly Lancome with a couple of Kiehl’s products – and some pretty miniature perfumes. Make-up products were limited to 2 Lancome mascaras and a couple of lip glosses, plus a mini black eye pencil. All of the beauty products that came out of...

Glossybox – December 2013

Glossybox – December 2013

December’s Glossybox came in a beautiful Christmas-themed red box (I will be re-using this for make-up storage) and the theme of the box was ‘Festive Treasures’. I have voiced my opinions before about Glossybox’s monthly themes, I think they let the whole thing down a bit as I often find that the products don’t really fit in with the theme very well, and this month was no exception. For Christmas time I would have liked to see more sparkle and glitz with jewel-like colours, and something really luxurious and pampering. When I opened my box there was a problem with the Seche Nail Lacquer inside so I had to contact Glossybox customer service to arrange for a replacement to be sent out. I have read bad reviews about the way that Glossybox deal with problems, however I have to say that the service I received was first class, and I must say a big thank you to Kayleigh for arranging to send out a replacement so quickly. Apologies for...

MeMeMe – Cherub’s Blush Cheek & Lip Tint

MeMeMe – Cherub’s Blush Cheek & Lip Tint

This full-size 12ml bottle of Cherub’s Blush Cheek & Lip Tint from Me Me Me Cosmetics came in my October Glossybox. I’m not one to use liquid tints generally, although I have used Benefit’s popular Bene-tint on occasions, but I was wondering if this product could convert me. Cherub’s Blush is a dark red liquid contained within a little bottle – it looks a bit like a nail varnish bottle and it has a brush attached inside the lid just like a nail varnish bottle too. The liquid tint can be used on both lips and cheeks to give a rosy tint, just by applying a dab with the brush and then blending it with the fingers. The swatch image below shows how the tint looks when it is first applied, and then after it has been blended. The first thing I noticed about this product after taking the swatch images is that it REALLY stains the fingers! This put me off Cherub’s Blush a lot – who wants...

Yves Rocher – Cocoa & Pistachio Nut Hand Cream

Yves Rocher – Cocoa & Pistachio Nut Hand Cream

I received this Cocoa & Pistachio Nut Hand Cream from Yves Rocher in my November Glossybox and tried it out straight away. It’s part of Yves Rocher’s ‘Collection Cacao’ range, which is made up of a variety of body and skincare products that all pair cocoa with another ingredient, for example Cocoa & Raspberry Sparkling Shower Gel. This Cocoa & Pistachio Nut Hand Cream is a lovely light white-coloured cream with a nice cocoa-y scent. It’s pretty much a budget product, but it doesn’t feel like it when you are massaging it into your hands. It leaves behind a lovely warm scent, if you like the fragrances of cocoa, vanilla or shea butter then I think you would love this. Being a jewellery designer my hands get a pretty tough time so I go through quite a lot of hand cream, and I have already been using this Yves Rocher product for a few days as it feels so nourishing. I think the packaging looks quite nice on this...

Glossybox – November 2013

Glossybox – November 2013

The theme of this month’s Glossybox is ‘The Glossy Wishlist’, I think the idea is that these are products you might want to add to your Christmas list (although if you’ve just received them in your Glossybox then there’s no need!). There are four full-sized products this month which is great, although in my opinion the choices aren’t particularly luxurious, and another Glossybox magazine too… So, now onto the products…. The first product is a full-sized Cocoa & Pistachio Nut Hand Cream from Yves Rocher. I tried this out as soon as I opened my Glossybox and it has a lovely rich, creamy scent perfect for Winter. It’s pretty much a budget product though and is priced at £1.95 for a 75ml tube. The next product is a full-sized tube of Dry Skin Exfoliator from footcare specialists Scholl. I’m not generally into footcare products and this certainly isn’t the luxurious sort of beauty product I would be adding to my Christmas list! I would have perhaps expected to see...

Emite – Professional Eyelash Curler

Emite – Professional Eyelash Curler

I have to admit that I have never tended to use eyelash curlers on a regular basis as I have never really seen much benefit from them, I prefer to use mascara to define and curl my lashes. This Professional Eyelash Curler arrived in my August Glossybox and I had already read some good reviews of it, so I was looking forward to trying it out. The curler has been designed so that it doesn’t touch your make-up base whilst you are using it, and it came with 3 spare red pads which is really great – this tool should last me a very long time. I think the design and the colours of this tool make it look really stylish too. I do find that this Professional Eyelash Curler is easy to use, but occasionally the edges do touch my eye make-up whilst I am using it. Also, it is made of metal so it does feel very cold when it touches your skin. The red band is...
