Olay – 2 in 1 Hydration Moisturisers

Olay – 2 in 1 Hydration Moisturisers

Olay is a well-trusted brand that seems to have been around forever… back in the day it was known as Oil Of Ulay – anyone else remember that? So I’m embarrassed to admit that these are the first of their products that I’ve actually ever tried! I think Olay used to have a bit of an old-fashioned reputation, the sort of skincare that your auntie might use… but not any more, over the past decade they’ve stepped up their game and offer products for every age group. I’ve been trying out two of their new 2 in 1 Hydration moisturisers, promising 24 hour hydration, that are currently exclusive to Superdrug. Olay 2 in 1 Hydration & Flawless Blur* – this 2 in 1 moisturising cream not only hydrates the skin but also contains light-diffusing particles that aim to smooth the look of fine lines and make skin look smoother. It also provides a smooth base for effective make-up application, reducing the need for a primer. The cream itself is...

Let’s Go Lashes – Strip Lashes in Tease 1

Let’s Go Lashes – Strip Lashes in Tease 1

I’m not someone who wears false lashes every day, but I do like them for a special occasion such as a wedding, birthday or big night out. I was lucky enough to be sent these Let’s Go Lashes in Tease 1 to try out, so I saved them for last Saturday night when we went out for my husband’s birthday meal with my family. Let’s Go Lashes, from Nouveau Lashes, are super-fast strip lashes available in a huge range of thickness, lengths and colour. There are 40 designs in all, split into four ranges – Flirt, Tease, Temptress and Heartbreaker – so there’s something to suit everyone. I have been using number 1 lashes from the Tease range – full length and full bodied, these aren’t for the faint hearted! Each set of Let’s Go Lashes comes with a tiny tube of latex eyelash glue so you don’t need any special equipment to apply them, it’s all in the box. I find the best way to apply lashes is...

Step-by-step guide to the perfect eyeliner

Step-by-step guide to the perfect eyeliner

You may have read my post recently about the launch of Essence make-up in the UK, a fantastically affordable range of make-up exclusive to Wilkinsons. Well here is another of their amazing budget make-up products – the 2in1 Eyeliner Pen. Currently only available in black, this liquid eyeliner pen has 2 felt-tip type nibs – one thin and pointed, and the other thick with a flat nib a bit like a calligraphy pen. I love anything that is multi-use and this liquid eyeliner doesn’t disappoint. The image below shows the thin nib: The image below shows the thick nib: You can use each nib to create a different eye look, or you can use them together to create a look. The thick nib would be perfect to create a dramatic 1960s style eye with no eyeshadow, just a thick line of black liner that wings up to a cats eye and lots of black mascara. The swatch image below shows clearly the line that each nib gives: The liner...

Bee Good – Honey & Wild Water Mint 3-in-1 Cleansing Water

Bee Good – Honey & Wild Water Mint 3-in-1 Cleansing Water

All things honey and bee-related are really popular at the moment, plus it has recently been highlighted that honey has wonderful properties that help to treat and improve skin. This Bee Good Honey & Water Mint 3-in-1 Cleansing Water is made in Hampshire, UK, from the honey of British bees and other natural ingredients and contains no synthetics or parabens. This 3-in-1 Cleansing Water is a clear liquid with hardly any scent and it really does have 3 benefits – it dissolves and removes make-up, cleanses the skin like a cleanser and then tones and refreshes the skin. It should be applied to a cotton wool pad then swept over the face, with no need to rinse afterwards, and can be used morning and night. Personally I don’t like products where there is no need to rinse as I don’t like the feeling of a product being left on the skin, so I have been using it as a pre-cleanse to remove make-up before using my usual Eucerin Dermo...

MUA – Pressed Powder in Shade 1

MUA – Pressed Powder in Shade 1

A quick review today of one of my new favourite products from MUA. I have used loose translucent powder to set my foundation for as long as I can remember, but I wanted a pressed powder that I could take with me in my handbag for touch ups. I was looking for a budget option, so I chose this Pressed Powder in Shade 1 from MUA (MUA stands for Make Up Academy, and it’s Superdrug’s own budget make-up brand). I’ve already reviewed a few products from MUA and found that they usually give great results despite their very reasonable prices. At just £1 this really is a budget product! I love the ‘MUA’ that has been imprinted into the powder, it reminds me of Cargo eyeshadow and powder products. The transparent palette doesn’t really match MUA’s other make-up products though, I think it would have looked better in black. I started off keeping this Pressed Powder palette in my handbag for touch-ups on the go. However it has now...

Pink Sparkle Nail Art

Pink Sparkle Nail Art

Welcome to another nail art post! I created this look using Barry M ‘Magenta Glitter’ Nail Paint and MUA Nail Polish in ‘Natural Days’. I just love Natural Days, it’s such a pretty, pale baby pink, if you want to see what it looks like on its own, have a look at my review here. Barry M’s Magenta Glitter is a very intense fuchsia pink colour, that contains mainly fine flecks of glitter but does have a few larger blobs of glitter in too. First I painted 2 thick coats of the Natural Days pale baby pink polish over my nails and left to dry. Then I painted a thin coat of Magenta Glitter at the base of my nail to about halfway up each nail. After this coat had dried I painted another coat of the glitter nail paint, this time from the base to only about one third of the way up each nail, this way it gives a gentle graded effect to the glitter. I finished with a...
