Roger & Gallet Hand And Nail Balms Review

I’ve only had these new Roger & Gallet Hand & Nail Balms* for just over a week, but I’ve used them every day and I just couldn’t wait any longer to tell you about them! I love French brand Roger & Gallet – created in 1862 they’ve been around a long time – their products are both traditional and modern at the same time and they make lovely gifts.

Only recently launched, the Hand & Nail Balms are available in two fragrances – Bienfaits and Fleur de Figuier. My absolute favourite is Fleur de Figuier, I love this scent and you may remember that last Summer I reviewed the matching Fleur de Figuier Huile Gourmande, a fruity body oil. The fragrance reminds me a bit of The Body Shop’s 1980s favourite fragrance Dewberry, it’s rich and fruity – good enough to eat! The Fleur de Figuier scent is so uplifting, perfect for Summer, and just smelling it makes me feel happy!

The product itself is a pale pink thick cream that sinks into the skin very quickly and doesn’t leave the hands feeling slimy or sticky. I’ve been using it every night when I get into bed, before reading a book, and I don’t have to wait a few minutes after applying for the cream to sink in before reading my book like I would with a regular hand cream. The balm leaves a soft matt feeling on the hands and doesn’t leave smudgy prints on the book!

The ingredients of both Hand & Nail Balms include glycerine, shea butter and aloe vera, all ingredients that are known to moisturise and nourish.

The Bienfaits scent (translates from French to English as ‘benefits’) is enriched with 5 red berries that have antioxidant properties – blueberries, pomegranates, cranberries, blackcurrants and cherries – to help slow down premature ageing. The scent of this one reminds me of a Summer evening after a light rainfall – warm, fresh and green. It doesn’t really smell fruity, despite containing extracts of all the berries, but the fragrance is still pleasant.

The brightly coloured little tubes are really cute, the perfect size for keeping in a handbag, and all of Roger & Gallet’s hand creams are paraben free.

Roger & Gallet Fleur de Figuier Hand & Nail Balm is priced at £6, available from Feel Unique.
