Queen – Shampoo for Sensitive Skin

Queen Shampoo Review

As I sometimes suffer from a senstive itchy scalp I have been trying out this Shampoo* from sensitive skin specialists Queen. Queen have been making hypo-allergenic products since 1927 and have never tested their products on animals. This mild shampoo is particularly suitable for sufferers of dandruff, seborrhoeic dermatitis and contact dermatitis.

I also recently tried out Queen’s Eye Make-Up Remover, you can read that review here.

The product is an orange colour with a regular shampoo-like gel consistency, and if you sniff it very closely it does have a very feint coconut scent, due to one of the ingredients being Coconut Diethanolomide. This shampoo contains very few ingredients, although I was surprised to read that it does contain sodium laureth sulphate (SLS) which can sometimes cause skin to be sensitive and can strip oils from skin.

The shampoo doesn’t lather very much on the first application, but gives much more bubbles and lather on the second application. It did make my hair feel a bit tangled straight after washing with it, before I applied conditioner, but once I did apply conditioner my hair was fine. After drying and straightening my hair was really lovely – smooth, sleek and straight – and it didn’t start to get greasy quickly either, something that is common with many other shampoos that have been formulated for sensitive skin (although I think this is due to them not containing SLS).

As this is a shampoo for sensitive skins and scalps I would have liked it to be clear, I’m not sure that the orange colour suggests ‘sensitive’! I like the shape of the simple square bottle, but I don’t think that the packaging makes the product look premium enough, and it’s not cheap at £10.50 per bottle.

I do really like this product as it gave great results for my hair but I’m not sure I would buy it again as I find it a little bit too expensive for what it is. I would also really like to see Queen replace the SLS with another more natural ingredient.

Queen’s Shampoo is priced at £10.50 for 250ml and is available from Queen Cosmetics.
