PhytoBronz Review

As we are having such lovely sunny weather today here in the UK I thought it would be a perfect time to post about the PhytoBronz* tanning capsules I have been testing out for the past few days. PhytoBronz is a natural healthfood supplement that claims to prepare the skin for tanning and also helps to prevent sunburn and prolong a healthy tan.

The pack contains 30 medium sized bronze coloured capsules, and you should take one capsule per day for 15 days before exposure to the sun, during exposure and for 15 days after. (Obviously if you were using these for a week away in the sun you would need to purchase more than 1 box, to ensure you took them for the full time quota).

PhytoBronz capsules contain a blend of oils, including the well-documented argan oil, that help to support and nourish the skin, plus antioxidants beta carotene and vitamin E to help protect against free radicals that activate the ageing process. The supplement has 3 main aims:

  • Helps to speed and increase sun-tanning
  • Helps to prevent sunburn and ageing and protects eyes
  • Significantly decreases “sun-tan fading”, thus making your tan last longer

I have quite fair skin but I do tan easily and go a lovely golden brown colour. Last weekend I was on a family trip to the Norfolk coast, and as the weather forecast was good I decided to use the PhytoBronz capsules. I should have taken the supplement for 15 days before my trip, however as I had only received them last week and for the purposes of a quick test I had only managed 4 days prior to my trip. The weather was fairly bright during my weekend away, however as it is still early in the season here in the UK I didn’t really manage to get a tan as the sun wasn’t strong enough. However a couple of the people I was with did catch the sun a little bit and had slightly burned, red foreheads after a long walk along the beach – I didn’t experience any problems so it could be that taking the PhytoBronz capsules prevented me from getting burned by the sun.

I’m not too sure if I would use these PhytoBronz capsules again, I’m not really one for taking health food supplements but I do think it’s really important to be careful and look after your skin in the sun. I think as long as this product is used alongside a good SPF suncream then it is OK. Please note – PhytoBronz should NOT be used as an alternative to suncream.

PhytoBronz is priced at £17.95 for 30 capsules and is available from Healthy2U and good health food stores.
