Perfume Of The Day – L’Occitane Cerisier Rouge

I got this L’Occitane Cerisier Rouge Eau Intense for Christmas and I’m so in love with it! I first spritzed it in their York shop in December, and then dropped enough hints to my husband that he bought me it.
Cerisier Rouge translates as ‘Red Cherry’ and it’s a beautiful sweet fragrance – as well as the scent of cherry it’s got hints of lemon, orange, blackcurrant, raspberry and Lily Of The Valley. It’s not too fruity though, the floral edge really does come through, and it is supposed to replicate the ‘changing beauty of cherry blossom announcing the arrival of Summer days’.
It’s my absolute favourite scent at the moment, I wear it every day. It’s so uplifting and fresh – probably more of a Spring/Summer scent than an Autumn/Winter one. It lasts all day, after a few hours the top notes start to disappear and it reduces down to a warming, fruity fragrance.
I was also lucky enough to receive a great free gift with my perfume. L’Occitane do some great ‘gift with purchase’ offers, if you’re thinking about treating yourself to something join their mailing list or keep an eye online and wait until there’s a special offer!
My free gift consisted of a cute orange make-up pouch plus 5 mini sample products:
The make-up pouch is quite small, but it’s perfect to go in a handbag with just a few products in it. The Verbena Extra Gentle Soap has a powerful lemony scent (it matches the L’Occitane Verbena Moisturizing Hand Lotion that I have in my bathroom) and it’s a good size for a sample product.
There’s also a mini sized Fleurs De Cerisier Eau De Toilette, this is the younger, fresher, floral younger sister to Cerisier Rouge Eau Intense. It’s much lighter with a more floral top note – I definitely prefer the Red Cherry variant, but this would make a nice alternative to take on holiday in the Summer.
The Roses Et Reines Hand & Nail Cream tube looks so cute too and is a perfect size for keeping in an overnight bag or handbag. It has a nice rose scent when you initially apply it but it does smell a bit artificial and processed once you’ve rubbed it into your hands. I’m not sure I’d buy the full size product of this.
The final 2 free miniature L’Occitane products are an Ultra Rich Shower Cream which I haven’t tried yet but it’s the perfect size to keep in my overnight toiletry bag (would be small enough to take on in hand luggage on a plane too), and a mini Precious Cream which is a moisturiser for normal to dry skin that helps reduce the appearance of lines and wrinkles. I haven’t tried this either yet, but I have read great reviews of it.
Overall I think I got a great Christmas gift here!
Cerisier Rouge Eau Intense is priced at £35 for 50ml, available from L’Occitane. As I mentioned earlier don’t forget to sign up for L’Occitane’s e-newsletter to keep up to date with their special offers and giveaways.
