New launches from Kiehl’s

Summer seems to be the time when a lot of skincare brands launch new products, and Kiehl’s is no exception. I have a great relationship with my local Kiehl’s store in York and Laura, the manager there, sent me samples of these two new products to try.
If you don’t know much about Kiehl’s it was originally one old world New York pharmacy that was opened in 1851 by a Mr Kiehl and a Mr Morse (poor Mr Morse, he never got his name included in the brand). It offered its customers herbal remedies, over-the-counter drugs, essential oils and the very first Kiehl’s branded products. Fast forward over 150 years and it’s many stores now offer a wide range of skincare and bodycare products that make use of natural ingredients and benefit from Kiehl’s’ medicinal knowledge that has been developed over many years.
Kiehl’s Daily Reviving Concentrate* – I absolutely love skincare oils, they feel so gentle and natural on the skin. This Daily Reviving Concentrate is the daytime equivalent of Kiehl’s’ popular Midnight Recovery Concentrate, and contains Ginger Root, Sunflower Oil & Tamanu Oil to encourage radiant & youthfully awakened skin and support the skin’s natural defence system.
Kiehl’s recommend you apply 4 drops of Daily Reviving Concentrate to the face each morning in between applying your regular serum and moisturiser. Personally I’ve been skipping the serum when I’ve been using this product as I think adding in an extra skincare step not only takes extra time but could be swamping the skin with too many different ingredients. The golden oil smells really nice and citrusy, and it soaks straight into freshly cleansed skin.
I was pleased to read that Daily Reviving Concentrate contains no mineral oil or parabens.
This product launched on 24th August so I haven’t really been using it long enough to see the long-term effects it has on my skin, but my first impressions are that it’s really pleasant to use, it smells really nice and my skin has been looking clear and fresh whilst using it.
Kiehl’s Iris Extract Activating Treatment Essence* – this skin treatment was launched by Kiehl’s in early Summer, it’s an essence that prepares skin for further treatments and should be applied after toning and before serum and moisturiser. The product is a clear thick liquid with no scent, you only need a couple of drops on the fingers then press onto the face and use upward motions to apply.
Iris Extract Activating Treatment Essence sinks into skin really quickly, but as with the previous product I do personally think that adding in yet another step to the skincare regime is overkill, so I’ve been skipping serum after this one too.
As per the product name the ingredients include Iris extract which is used as part of longstanding Asian beauty rituals.
Personally my favourite of the two skin treatment products is Daily Reviving Concentrate, I love the oil formulation and the citrusy scent – this is the one that I would buy. Both products cost the same price.
Obviously I’ve not been using either of the products for a long enough time yet to see the long term effects on my skin, but I’ll continue to use them and report any major changes.
Daily Reviving Concentrate is priced at £36 for 30ml, available from Kiehl’s.
Iris Extract Activating Treatment Essence is priced at £36 for 200ml, available from Kiehl’s.
