Well here I am, back at my blog! I had a lovely break over Christmas and New Year and it was made all the more special by it being my baby girl’s first Christmas. But as ever the festive period whizzed by far too fast and we’re now well into the first week in January.
For me January is about pampering and detoxing, and thinking about all the possibilities that the year ahead has in store. If pampering’s your thing too then look no further than Mothers Bath Oil from Neal’s Yard Remedies. I was given this by a friend after I gave birth to my daughter last September and it’s become a staple in my bathroom. Made from only organic ingredients it can safely be used during pregnancy, after the birth and then as your child gets older when you feel a bit ‘frazzled’! Of course you don’t have to be a mother to use it, everyone needs relaxation!
The main ingredients are organic Olive, Apricot and Almond oils, plus Bergamot, Lavender and Ylang Ylang oils which give it a gentle relaxing scent. In my opinion it’s the Lavender fragrance that comes through strongest although it’s not overpowering.
A tablespoon of Mothers Bath Oil should be poured under the running tap of a warm bath, the running water helps it to evenly distribute throughout the bath and not just sit on the top of the water. Then just lie back and relax! Not only does the fragrance soothe the mind and the body, but the oil also nourishes and conditions the skin, meaning that you don’t need to apply body lotion afterwards (perfect when you’re a new mum, you won’t have the time!).
I love the traditional style dark blue glass bottles that Neal’s Yard Remedies use, I think it’s a really classy brand and their ethics are great too. If you’re into natural skincare and aromatherapy then this is a company you should really look into. I’m planning to review some more of their products this year.
Mothers Bath Oil is priced at £15 for 100ml, available from Neal’s Yard Remedies.
