My Little Box – March 2015

After my foray with Glossybox last year I had all but given up on monthly beauty boxes, but then I read about My Little Box. Originally only available in France this quirky beauty box offers something a bit different, including their own range of make-up ‘My Little Beauty’, a proper readable mini magazine in each box, plus exciting little non-beauty extras – past examples have included stickers, stationery and T-shirts.
My March box arrived last month and I couldn’t wait to open it! So, what was inside….?
I have to admit that I had mixed feelings about my first My Little Box. The theme was ‘Superbox’, suggesting that every woman is a superwoman in her own way, and I think the contents suited this theme superbly (something that other beauty boxes struggle with). However I thought that one or two of the beauty products were a bit too mainstream for My Little Box and I would have preferred something a bit more quirky.
The beauty products were all nestled inside a pretty printed drawstring bag, and the first item that I took out was this cute Lip Balm from My Little Box’s own cosmetic range My Little Beauty. I think the packaging is really pretty, I love the pastel colours. However I was disappointed to find that the printing on the plastic tube is actually just a cellophane covering and it was extremely difficult to remove the lid without completely removing this cellophane and being left with a plain white boring lip balm tube.
The second product that I uncovered was this full size Miracle Sleeping Cream from skincare brand Garnier. Now don’t get me wrong, I love Garnier products, and I have high hopes for this night moisturiser (plus it smells delicious and fruity) but I did think that it was a bit mainstream for My Little Box and had hoped for something a bit more different in my first box.
I haven’t tried Sleeping Cream yet, but I will be reviewing it in full on Beauty Best Friend in the weeks to come.
The final beauty product in the drawstring bag was this Kerastase Cristalliste intensive hair conditioner from L’Oreal Paris. I was a bit disappointed with this too, but only because I don’t tend to use a lot of hair products, so personally for me this probably wouldn’t be something that I would normally use. However I will try it out… all in the name of blogging!
My favourite item in the March box was this grey T-shirt! I think it’s a genius idea to include a T-shirt inside a beauty box, it’s something a bit different. It’s fairly generous in size, I would estimate around a size 14, but obviously it wouldn’t fit everybody so there may be a fair few people that are a bit disappointed with this – but not me! It’s really soft, goes well with jeans and is ideal for wearing around the house or for going shopping on a weekend.
Also included in the Superbox were some Superwoman stickers and a proper mini magazine with actual articles! This is definitely the best beauty box magazine that I’ve read – take note other beauty boxes!
So overall there were some highs and some lows in my first My Little Box opening, but I definitely think it’s one of the best monthly beauty boxes around, really quirky and different and they work hard to ensure that every product inside fits with the theme of the box. I’m going to continue receiving it…. in fact my April box has already been despatched and I can’t wait for the postman to knock on my door.
My Little Box is priced at £11 plus £3 P&P per month, to subscribe visit My Little Box.
