Murad Invisiblur Perfecting Shield Review

At first I wasn’t sure what Murad Invisiblur Perfecting Shield* was – I assumed that as it has SPF30 it was some kind of moisturiser, or perhaps some kind of BB Cream. To be honest even after using it for over a week I’m still not sure how I’d describe it! Murad say it’s a ‘5 in 1 multi-benefit formula‘, I’d suggest it’s a moisturising priming treatment with sunscreen!

Invisiblur Perfecting Shield was a gold winner of Best New Premium Skincare Product at the 2015 Pure Beauty Magazine Awards and has also been recommended by Woman & Home magazine.

The product itself is a clear gel that’s super silky smooth. The long list of ingredients include lots of natural ones such as Barley, Sunflower and Cucumber Extracts, but there are also some not so natural looking ones too. The aim of Invisiblur is to soften and prime skin whilst blurring wrinkles and imperfections, plus with SPF 30 it protects skin from the harmful effects of the sun which is something I think we all need our everyday skincare to do.

The directions say to ‘apply to clean face’, I wasn’t sure whether I should apply moisturiser first or not so I have tried it both ways. I actually find that Invisiblur Perfecting Shield doesn’t moisturise that well so I prefer to apply my usual day moisturiser first and then wait until that has thoroughly sunk in before applying the product. You only need a tiny amount of the clear gel to cover the whole face as it really spreads out and feels silky smooth on the skin. I love the texture that it leaves on the surface of my skin, it feels velvet soft and it seems to soak up any shine too.

You can wear Murad Invisiblur on its own or underneath make-up as a primer. I find it works really well as a primer, my foundation goes on much quicker and needs less blending, it seems to ‘grip’ to the Invisiblur underneath. My foundation does end up looking a bit more matt than usual though, and if you prefer a dewy finish then this might not be for you.

This product is a little bit pricey, but it is a true multi-tasker and certainly helps keep make-up stay put. I’d prefer it if it moisturised a little bit better and also if it were a little less perfumed, but overall I’d say it’s a pleasant product that has several benefits.

Murad Invisiblur Perfecting Shield is priced at £55 for 30ml, available from Beauty Expert.
